  1. I got mine in a big box with the 3 rod rod tubes in it. All were in good condition. But the stone cold spook and trap was wrong. I ordered a MH and the label on the box said MH but the rod is a H. Not anyone there's fault as im sure the Irod was loaded into the wrong tube at the factory. But same issues as you. No phone number, no chat, and no response from email for almost a week.
  2. Bummer. That was the only rod I really wanted lol but settled for 3 others. That was a killer sell.
  3. Was your magic stick on sale? I went to get one and it said it was the full $149.99. I did mange to find 3 others, plus a ton of tackle. For 3 rods and tackle at $250 is insane.
  4. What is everyones opinion on the KVD reels? Obviously he is no longer with Quantum so his signature line stuff is going for cheap on ebay. I found a KVD smoke s3 from a Quantum dealer going for like $80-90. But if they are pieces of crap then I dont want one. Anyone use one? I have both Daiwa and Shimano reels currently but need another that is decent without breaking the bank.
  5. I actually tried giving your recommendation a call but Im assuming they are shut down just like every other place in Cali. I did take your advice and called a local shop that was still open and they referred me to a prop shop. Ill let you know what they say! Thanks!
  6. All I can say is d**n! This is a lot of really good info and the reason I posted on here. Unfortunately it sounds like you learned in the hardest way possibly lol I did think a 22p was the way to go but was worried about the fully loaded planing issues too. Nothing is worse then being boat number 3 and cant get on plane. Been there, done that.
  7. I run a 92 Nitro 190 DC with a 150 Evinrude on the back. When I first got the boat it came with a 24p prop. When I was low on gas and the only one in the boat it popped up and ran fine. But when I had a tournament load and 2 people, my coangler had to sit on the front to get it to plane. I got a screaming deal on a 19p 4 blade so I took it. Been running it for a couple of years now but the RPM get up so fast. I hit 6k and am only doing about 41-43 mph. I know the RPM should be around 5500 so I need to switch to another prop. Obviously its an older motor (15 spline) so I cant run over to my neighbor and borrow a prop to test. I was looking at a 4 blade 21p. But all the prop places dont allow returns or exchanges after use. So I am worried a 21 may still be a bit off after I test it and need to go to a 22p. Any suggestions?
  8. Thanks! I have a jig, ned rig, drop shot, and jerkbait tied on. Just didnt know if someone else used something outside the norm. I may have to try the silver spoon or a hair jig.
  9. We have a local lake that is fairly small and maybe 20-30 ft deep right now at the deepest point. The ice just barley came off and I am itching to get outside and catch a few largemouth. My boat has been good to go for a few weeks now so Im ready to rock. Ive never actually been out to fish on the water in March as usually here in Utah there is still ice until the first week of April. Any recommendations on what to use and areas to target. Id imagine the water is high 30's, maybe low to mid 40s. but no more.
  10. I snagged the Tatula SV TW for the $135! Cant wait to use it. Thanks again everyone!
  11. Im always down for Shimano. All my spinning reels are Shimano except one diawa. I am having a hard time not buying that tatula sv. For a $200 reel for $135 is hard to beat but that lews is on my radar. I saw that on TW before you mentioned it but didnt give it much thought. I will look into it more! Also someone mentioned a fuego ct since im familiar with that reel. All these are great options!
  12. I have a hard time slowing down as well. I dont throw many big swimbaits so wont need anything lower than a 5. Thats why I thought I would ask. I need another reel as I have an empty pole!
  13. I am not going to say I have mastered anything, because I havent. But I can set up and cast my baitcaster to my liking. I just wanted suggestions on a reel and gear ratio for squarebills and spinners. I said the wrong thing by "dial" in the reel. I meant I cant choose one that I want to buy. Not set up current ones.
  14. I guess all in all I was wondering what gear ratio people like to throw those baits on. I usually throw a 3/8 to 1/2 spinners, very rarely 1/4 on a 7' MH rod. I believe it has a fast tip but Ill have to double check. If you are coming out to Utah look me up! Bass fishing popularity in Utah, albeit is growing, is still very small. And many people who are into it fishing compete in the local and club tournaments so teaching and sharing techniques is few and far between as you may beat them the following tournament on a style they taught you. Its very hush hush around here. Thats why I enjoy reading this forum so much! Many people willing to teach and share experiences.
  15. I have had a baitcaster for about 5 years. I am by no means a pro but I do ok keeping myself together on the lake. Certainly willing to learn more if you have more to offer up!
  16. I'd love that reel. I am seeing it for $150. Could you post the link? Maybe I am in the wrong spot.
  17. I want to throw shallower spinners and square bills, along with maybe a lighter chatter-bait. I cant seem to dial in a reel. I have two Daiwa reels, fuego CT 8:1 and a cabelas tournament sx 100 HLS 7:1 and I really like Daiwa. Any reels in the $75 to $150 range in Daiwa or any other brand that will work? Oh and I use left hand retrieve ?
  18. On the slip shot do you put in a swivel?
  19. I am defiantly going to throw this rig. What rod do you throw it on? I have a 7' heavy for my jigs and 7'2 and 7' MH for all my other casting needs. Would any of those work? I do more casting with the drop shot than vertical. So the 7' rod seems to make more sense like you said for distance and setting the hook The sheer number of responses to my question is ridiculous! Thanks everyone Tom, Is this what you were talking about? http://www.***.com/all/slipshot-rig-for-cold-water-bass/#.Xbxg1-dKhTY
  20. From what I read its like a lighter carolina rig. I dont think a fish will have ever seen that where I live.
  21. First post here and this site has the most knowledge of any bass fishing site I have seen! I am looking for a dedicated dropshot rod. I have been looking through the forums and trying to read as much as I can before posting but I am slightly overwhelmed. I usually will cast out drag back when trying to cover water in a slower presentation. I also drop using the fish finder as most people do. I currently have a 6'6 medium heavy that I throw my dropshot rig on along with other finesse presentation as well. On a calm day usually 1/8 or 3/16 ounce weight depending on the depth, 1/0 hook for largemouth and #1 or smallmouth with 12# braid to a 8# leader. I like the backbone of the MH rod but everything I read says M or even ML rods are preferred. Then all the different lengths is killing me. Currently looking at a IRod Genesis II IRG712S as a buddy recommended them. I've had pretty decent success on my current setup so wondering why the ML or M over the MH rods? I know I could straighten a hook but I usually reel set with a dropshot. Thanks in advance!
