Made our annual trip to the bend this past weekend, had a great trip fishing was great and the weather cooperated nicely. There was 6 of us that fished Thursday evening thru Saturday, we had a total of 60 that we kept with a mix of large mouth and Kentucky the largest probably around 4lbs. We stayed in negret and fished mostly in Lanan.

I have enjoyed reading this thread. Like I said before I do not get to toledo bend but once a year, but had hoped to change that this year and may still get back up there in the fall. I have no reason to think that the guys that post on here regularly, would have a reason to mislead anyone. I really do appreciate what has been shared on here and I enjoy reading about everybody's trips. I do believe that the lake still has a very healthy population of fish, one just has to go and learn the lake. So thank you to Catt, A5blaster and the others that have been so willing to try and teach others how to fish the lake.

Had a great trip this weekend, we stayed in negret and fished mostly in that area. The weather was great and we caught around 80 fish total, biggest was 5.14. Caught most of them on trick worms, baby brush hogs and Carolina rig. There were a lot of people on the lake, everyone I seen was very polite. I wanted to thank everyone on here for the advice that was given, learned some more about the lake and how to fish it. I hope to go back at least once more this year.

I will be there Thursday morning, I can't wait. The weather looks like it will cooperate. Hopefully can catch some fish this time.

That makes perfect sense, although I never thought about it affecting the lake that way. I would think with the rain water coming in that would keep the water temps down, and with the water level rising will this affect the spawn?

Looking at the hook n line map I see a boat lane named james gaines, is this a marked boat lane?

We will be staying in the negret area, i am looking for areas that i can trailer to because, my boat isn't big enough to run the lake unless it is calm.

I have some questions about crank baits. Baits with rattles are with out rattles? When do you use the ones with rattles?

Question, Does anyone fish with the shaky head jig? If so what time of the year is a good time to use it? ( I have been reading some articles, but was looking for some personal information, i guess )

Catt, I watched the interview, it was very interesting, those guys are there to help the lakes and the aquatic life in them not destroy them. That is what they went to school for.

I agree 100%, one post on FB true are false and the next weekend it will be covered with people. I want to learn to fish, not learn to fish everyone else's spots. I enjoy reading the post on here, it gives me a better understanding of where and what to look for and how to fish it.

WOW!!!!! That must be awesome, I only get up that way once a year, but I am hoping to change that starting this year.

A5BLASTER Can you launch at the blue lake launch with the lake at this level, if not what does the level need to be at?

Catt, And everyone else on here, I have been reading this thread for the last couple of weeks, I really admire yall's willingness to share your knowledge, as all know most people are tight lipped about this stuff. A great big thank you. I do not get to fish a lot but I do enjoy it. I have purchased a hook n line map and have been studying it, and looking at the places that y'all have been talking about. I have a small group from work that will be going to toledo bend on march 12 - 15, ( this is our 3rd year in a row ) we will be staying in the negret area. I plan on fishing the negret area and was thinking about the blue lake and sam migeul area. I have seen your recommendations for the negret area. Any suggestions on the blue lake n san migeul areas?
