Well I went with the Metanium reel and G-Loomis NRX 873C. I think it will fit me well for my needs. Seems like a sweet rig.

If I had to pick one it would be a brush hog or similar creature bait. It just catches fish.

Where/who is a good place for custom builds?

I’m all about saving money but I want to try some higher end stuff to see what I’m missing. Most everything I use is in the 200-300 range and especially want something more sensitive for the rock bottom I fish.

Looking for a combo to throw Texas rig and jigs in mostly 3/8 to 1/2 oz. Prefer Shimano or Daiwa for a reel. What’s the best in the 700-1000 dollar range. Fishing mostly rocky bottom in Ky and Barely lakes.

I see on the high end reels they are in the neighborhood of a hundred dollars cheaper. Are they the same reels and are there any issues ordering from them ? Digitaka was the one I was looking at specifically.

Where do the DCs shine? Is it for mainly windy conditions or light lures?

Are the ones from Japan made better or are they the same thing? Are cost the same?

So most of my reels are in the 100 to 150 dollar range. I was thinking of moving up to some in the 200 + range. Was wondering what makes the 400 dollar ones better than say the 200 dollar ones. Is it weight or lack of backlashing? What’s y’all’s favorites.

I see the black color Vmax and a plain gray color one like bass pro sells. What’s the difference in the two? Is they gray one lower quality?

With them out of business, is it safe to buy a used boat with one one it? Found a 2011 E-Tec with 200 hours. It’s a 150 on a Ranger Z118. Most of these have a Merc on it. Wish this one did.

I see a lot of boats for sale with new or low hours on new power head. Are they just dumping them because they are high risk or is it a good selling point to have a new power head?

Well it sold the next day so I guess you can’t sleep on a good deal. Good to hear they are good boats though. I’ll keep them in mind.

I’m looking at used boats and was looking mostly at Ranger then Triton but came across a 2010 285 xl Stratos with a 150 Yamaha that’s a great looking boat. It’s listed cheaper of course than most Rangers and was wondering how people like them. I fish Ky and Barkley lakes but not a speed freak and I want a good ride.

I’m still looking at boats but mainly wanted to know how safe you feel with an original motor with 400 or more hours versus a rebuild versus and new power head or lower and if you could choose what one would you take. I’m looking at 150 to 250 hp depending on what I find.

Would you rather buy a used boat with a motor that’s original but say over 400 hours or one that has a rebuild or one with a new power head/ lower? Just wondering where the most confidence would be and the fear and down side to each.

I bought a Johnny Morris Signature Series combo at Bass Pro. 320 dollars but got a 145 off with my daughters discount. Hard to pass up. May get another one because she’s quitting that job soon and no more discounts.

So I’ve been looking at used boats and it may just be me but when I see a boat with seats torn and in bad shape it makes me wonder if the boat has been treated badly as well. Is this crazy thinking? I know a seat can get a rip but I’m OCD and baby things I buy. Thoughts.....
