  1. Anybody seen any leaked copies of the 2021 Classic ad/flyer? Usually starts leaking out around now.
  2. D_Stephenson changed their profile photo
  3. *** Fishing just announced they will start manufacturing a new reel that will be built in Texas. They're taking pre-orders now. www.sixgillfishing.com Six Gill Fishing that is. Not sure why it added stars up there.
  4. Underspin with a 3" White/silver paddle tail swim bait has been getting some hits for us. Had never thrown these before but started noticing shad schools and such. Figured it was time to try and it has some. I also appreciate other advice on this thread and will try some other approaches.
  5. Bizz Baits (all soft plastics) Near Concord, NC. Truesouth Custom Lures (NC)
  6. I noticed on their website there's a general message about supply issues. You can't order rods from the site until late August, per the last time I checked. Covid crushed the supply chain and then the demand for fishing anything went to a level never seen. Bad mix.
  7. Sure, no problem. You can PM me.
  8. I live slightly east of Raleigh, so the main lakes most people know and fish are Jordan, Falls and Harris. Great fisheries. I don't have much knowledge of lakes west of there. For small mouth, I've only read about a few lakes to the north and west having them. I read often about New River having a good population of them. I have spent most of fishing life in salt water and just now getting back into fresh water. Mostly kayak fishing. Loving that. I hope to have time to explore more water in the future. My middle son is going off to ECU in a few weeks. He's joing the Bass Club competition team there and I'm sure that will take him many places. So I'll probably tag along on those trips as well. Fishing is something new daily. I've learned more and seen more this year than ever. Much of it has come from talking to other anglers I've met at spots and them telling me about a creek / mill pond that I'd never heard about. I got and fish it, meet another angler, tells me about another one... and it's kept repeating. Been a really fun year so far.
  9. Both of them in my area of NC are nearly depleted. It looks like there was a Black Friday sale, every day, for the last 2 months. According to the section manager they are receiving about 10% of their usual restocking orders. I guess that shows that most everything they're getting is coming from China. It's hung up on cargo ships...somewhere. But it's about the same at my local Walmart. 75% of the fishing section is wiped out. No stock coming in and suddenly everyone furloughed and stuck at home has either rediscovered fishing or everyone that does fish, is doing it a lot more.
  10. I think it varies greatly at each stop. It seems they've changed things this year where the moderators are now located in a studio (probably Oklahoma or wherever their headquarters is at), similar to BASS Live. Last season they were on a stage near the event site, often at a Bass Pro Shops. There was also an event at the same location where some or all of the anglers came after fishing for a check-in of sorts. This year they're doing a "take out" event after each day, at the boat ramp. At the Raleigh event last year, there were no vendors since it was by BPS. I think there might have been vendors at other stops. No idea this year with the changes. They will always have some "meet the anglers" and other events located in and around the closest BPS, if possible.
  11. Little while back on a BPS sale I bought a few of the "Worden's Vibric Rooster Tail Lure". Had never used any of the Vibric type. Have not had a chance to try them out yet, unfortunately. They seem different in maybe they are more of a vibrating blade versus a spinning blade? Anybody used these? They were like a buck fifty. Figured it was worth a try at that price.
  12. Do most of you use a trailer with them or just use as is? I know about using a trailer hook if it seems the fish are short striking the lure.
  13. I'll be vacationing the first week of June in the Massanutten area of VA. Just looking for some fishing action while I'm there and would love some suggestions. I'm game for meeting up with someone if you're local and would pay for gas and such if you have a boat. I've only been to the area one other time and only tubed on the Shenendoah River a bit. I own some kayaks but have never used them in moving water much. I know there would be the issue of putting in at one location and needing (most likely) to be picked up somewhere else. Not yet sure if I'll even be able to take the kayaks. Anyway, appreciate any and all input.
