  1. A lake om the Tennessee River chain.
  2. Thanks! That makes alot of since. It would have took alot of thought to figure that out.I'm going through alot of changes in how my fish are positioning and I thought it probally had something to do with fluctuating current. Thanks again.
  3. I understand that current is a good thing when it comes to fishing deep on ledges, points, and humps in the summer. What I am wondering is where the fish will possition when there is lack of current or when there is good current. For example,do fish often suspend when there is lack of current or do they sit on bottom?Does it even have anything to do with it at all?
  4. You are along ways from home for this KY boy,but since I see you have no replies I'll try. Here in KY the fish migrate to the shallows for the spawn,as most of us know.Afterwards they head back out to the deeper waters,on humps, points, and ledges, atleast some of them. This year our grass is coming back and I know for a fact alot of them are staying in shallower water(4-10 ft.)Don't really know what your water temps are or the depts and contours of your river, but all bass love structure and comfortable oxygen levels. If your river is really matting up with grass try throwing a zoom horny toad, they really work well.I have caught fish on them from KY to Florida. It is a top water, soft plastic so you might want to consider if top-water works up and over there.Secondly if you can get a topographical map, look and find the main channels.I would start at the mouths of any tributaries that flow into the main river.A crankbait that matches the size and color of the baitfish and runs close to the bottom would be a start. If that didn't work I would have to go a jig or C-rig.Alot of this depends on the habits of those river fish.A couple of good tips one, check out some of the articles on this website, two go pick a local baitstore owner's brain. Also, when you are looking for size and colors of baits the ones that they are usually out of are the ones that are working.
  5. R/W,to give an opinion on guides I wouldn't know. That really didn't seem to be the topic. Why point x and not a-w.I fish Kentucky and Barkley lakes.Points, humps, and ledges are key this time of year.I've been hitting the lake pretty hard here lately.I have found spots that really produced and some that didn't,but I have stuck to finding spots that have somethings in common.(8-15ft. dropping to atleast 20ft. with some structure)I have probally found 20 of these ledges or points and I have marked them all.Out of the 20 only 2 produced. So I found myself asking the same question.I have started going back to these spots today one of them that I didn't even get a bite on the first time produced 2 keepers. One of the spots I caught 5 keepers on recently didn't even get bit there. There has been a difference in weather and current between these trips, but I do believe that bass love to migrate somewhat and there's got to be reason for it.Other angler pressure is a big reason, baitfish, current, weather,or their just get tired of hanging out at the same ol' spot(LOL)In other words I would say your guide probally had a good hunch on what spots would produce better for that day, something I wish I could do myself.
  6. I love cranking in cover myself. It works!Alot of the articles I read about craking cover mention wood and I feel its only half of it.True if you bump and stop on good logs, stumps and trees your gonna get bit.But the other side is rocks, and hard structure.I caught a seven pounder in early March this year tickling and bumping large chunk rocks. My father and I caught alot of nice keepers bumping along boat ramps late in the summer last year.Cranking is my prefered way to fish.In the right conditions I feel it can't be beat! There something about the way fish often not only bite it but attack it!
  7. I live in Murray, Ky. It's two hrs. to BPS in nashville and three hrs. to Memphis.
  8. I believe most pros use the palomar knot. But no matter which knot you use, always moisten all the line that will be involved in the knot.
  9. I'm kinda new to this site. I don't think that I have seen a subject covered any better than these four guys did. Boy, if we can't catch 'em on ledges now, We should say," Yes, honey, you can sell all my tackle at the yard sale saturday." Happy fishing-GOD BLESS!!
  10. Slow down and try to improve my flippin'.
