Hook setting
Decided to change just try a new presentation. Just out fishing behind my house for fun and trying to figure out what works the best and how to fish different set ups. Looks like I had my hook types confused, I was using a 2/0 EWG hook.

Hook setting
I'm new to bass fishing and I've been having some luck with a whacky rigged 4" senko at this pond near my home. Today I decided to go out and try a weightless t-rigged set up. I had a ton of bites, but I was only able to pull in one bass. When I would try to set the hook the fish would either swim around for a few seconds and spit it out, or I'd yank the hook out of the fish's mouth. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on why this might be happening? I'm using a spinning rod with 12lb line and a 2/0 offset hook. I thought maybe the hook was too small, or possibly my timing was off, I just don't know.

Pond fishing lures
There's a small pond near my house that I fish a lot (sounds like the one you are describing where you could cast to the other side in some locations). For softbaits I use a 4" senko, weightless whacky or t-rigged, and for spinner I use a Booyah micro pond magic, I prefer the micro to the regular pond magic because the micro has a single colorado blade with great action. Both have worked really well for me there. I tried using some crankbaits but in this pond they just snag on everything and I ended up spending most of my fishing time pulling lillies and weeds out of the treble hooks.

Fishing just for the heck of it
There is small lake directly behind my house and I find myself walking over there to fish just about everyday. I just like to go out there and enjoy being outside. I don't really mind if I don't catch anything. Maybe it's because I just have to walk out my back door and I don't have to make a trip to the lake?

Jig Heads
Specifically for a ned rig, how much would your presentation be altered by using different jig head shapes? I have rounded, mushroom shaped, and fish head shaped jig heads. Would you guys recommend one over the others, or is the head shape not really important?

Tips for fishing brand new suburban pond with no cover
I've been fishing a similar sounding pond in my suburban neighborhood as well. I use a Booyah micro pond magic spinnerbait and it has been working really well for me there.

Bait Size
Honeslty, I'm still using my trout set up from when I lived in CO. I use a spinning reel (6:2:1) with 6# line. I've been meaning to look into what's best to use for bass, but just haven't got that far yet.

Bait Size
I recently moved from Colorado to Georgia and this is my first season doing any bass fishing. I've been having some success with spinnerbaits and I want to start trying out some soft-baits. The size variations are kind of confusing to me though, some of these baits range from 3" to 12" in length. I've read somewhere that you want to use smaller baits early in the season, is there a reason for this? What do you guys normally take into consideration when deciding what size soft bait to use?

Pond Magic Spinnerbaits
I love that spinner bait. I was actually out throwing the pond magic yesterday on a small lake near my house and had a great day with it, landed 9 largemouth in about 2 hours just fishing from shore! It's a small bait but I've caught some really nice fish on it. I've been using a 6:2:1 and it's been successful for me. I haven't used a trailer with them.
