Pond Magic Spinnerbaits

Featured Replies

I have to admit, I never really fished a spinnerbait. Was at Walmart grabbing some essentials and of course I had to roam through the fishing isle. They had Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbaits for $2.44, so I grabbed a couple. Questions.......What gear are you throwing them on and also, are you using a trailer?

Thanks!

I've never thrown that exact bait, but I have a pile of the War Eagle Finesse spinnerbaits.  I prefer to throw them with a single trail grub trailer rather than a trailer hook.  High 6 or low 7 reels get the job done for me.

I love that spinner bait.  I was actually out throwing the pond magic yesterday on a small lake near my house and had a great day with it, landed 9 largemouth in about 2 hours just fishing from shore!  It's a small bait but I've caught some really nice fish on it.  I've been using a 6:2:1 and it's been successful for me. I haven't used a trailer with them.

I've had some good days with small spinnerbaits like this one.  I like to use a curly tail grub or pinched down paddle tail for a trailer.  A trailer helps add some heft for casting distance.  I fish small spinnerbaits on a medium or medium light spinning outfit for the fun of the fight.

For smooth action use a curl tail trailer. If you want a more erratic action use a kick or boot tail trailer. I like to add a stinger hook and mount my trailers on it. Fishing weeds or grass the 4 stock style coarse texture braid will cut through better. If you havent fished spinnerbaits before, buckle up! These are the most under rated baits for numbers and big fish. I dont leave home without one!
