You might be able to string the line on an unused reel … Fix the washer problem and re-string it onto the original reel.... Just a suggestion... I have seen something like this done before when someone forgot to bring line for an unspooled reel. Tight lines!

I have been using braid for this application (20lb), but I am using a spinning set up. For mono, I like Stren or Trilene (12 lb).

Thanks for the great info. Another question .. With using straight braid, would it require a special knot or just use a non-slip loop knot? I have heard of braid requiring special knots.

Looking for some opinions... I am currently looking for a good top water line setup for fishing with a hard bait (like a KVD Sexy Dawg Jr). What kind of line setup would you recommend (straight braid, braid with leader, straight mono, etc.)? Thanks in advance for your input.

Hello everyone from the Nature Coast of Florida. I am a middle aged guy trying to rekindle my love for fishing (both fresh and salt). It's been a number of years since I have been fishing and I see that a lot has changed. This site seems to have a wealth of information for this sport/hobby.
