  1. Hello Dyna7329 we went to wacky worm this morning. i want to thank you for the heads up on the 20% off on everything in the store except live bait. the shimano SLX were all gone at 80 bucks, the shimano 150dc was 189.00 with 20% off took it just about 150 they were selling fast, if i had not just bought a lews tournament MP, i could have the 150 dc for the same money, bought a bunch of lures and some braided lines, saved a bunch, thanks again chet
  2. Friday i will be shopping for some tackle at either Cabela's in Hamburg PA or Bass Pro Shops in Harrisburg PA, any suggestions which one would have more fishing tackle in stock not including plastics, i have enough of them, mainly lures and rods, reels, hooks ect/ chet
  3. now that i have messed with this reel, i probably will wait and give alliexpress a shot, maybe even a cell phone. chet
  4. next time out i am going to play with the tatula, where can i get a phantom for that price, i am thinking of another one, how did i miss that deal, oh well, i purchased it from amazon, they were about the same price on ebay, if you mean allipress or direct from china, i did not want to wait 4 weeks. but if i can get it quicker let me know thanks chet
  5. any thoughts on the Daiwa Minicast 40
  6. ok thanks, going to try and find a dealer to check one out
  7. i want to thank the groups responses here, i am trying to get my wife a one or 2 more spin casters, one especially for casting 1/8 oz jig for crappie, i am a die hard bass fisherman, but recently my wife went thru 5 chemo treatments, and it takes the hell out of a person, i don't wish chemo on anyone, after 5 chemo treatments she is cancer free after a historectmy operation back in January, maybe a few radiation treatments yet, but it's the naurapaty in her lower legs and feet and hands, we fished sat and sunday out of my boat, i am watching her and trying to see what i can do to improve her casting and to enjoy her fishing, a few years ago she could handle a baitcaster, maybe it it will come back, thanks for your support chet ps recently picked up a Piscifun Phantom baitcaster. was around 78 bucks. most dealers i talk to say it's junk, maybe it's because they don;t sell them and web sales only, i have quite a few new baitcasters i purchased in the last few months, i have a new daiwa tatula 100 model or ct. but sad to say it cannot cast like the piscifun phantom, i also have the lews MP and the LFS nice reels too and they are right there with the Phantom, it it holds up i will be happy. the piscifun is the smoothest when retrieving. anyone have a phantom to give their thoughts, thanks for the reply, so if i understand you are saying the daiwa gc 80 is bigger than the platinum, seems like the zebco's are not in a race for making lightweight spin casters, i see there is a pfleuger model under 6oz chet chet
  8. you mentioned Delta's what brand is that, wonder how the smaller version of the pfleuger would be, we were out yesterday and she cannot get the 1/8 oz crappie baits too far, she cannot get the hang of spinning reels, thanks chet
  9. the only thing i see with the bullet is that it ie too big and too heavy for my wifes small hands, wonder if the zebco micro 33 would cast chet
  10. my wife likes the spincast reels when we fish for bass and crappie. she started off with one of my old zebco 33 prostaff about 35 to 40yrs old, casting distance is poor, so i got her a new zebco platinum, nicer reel and cast farther, so i want to get her another one, what i don't want to do is make a purchase that the reel will not cast at least as far as the platinum, hoping to find something to cast better than the platinum, was thinking of the zebco ZO2 which is slightly smaller than the zebco 33. any spincast pros out there thanks chet
  11. yes i have a 25hp yamaha, it when i fish electric only lakes or 10hp max. i use the trolling motor only chet
  12. i was wondering about this project, since i already have the foot controlled motorguide mounted on the boat, i was thinking of removing the motor and cables off the bow mount, and getting a minkotta 55 thrust is variable speed or the standard 5 position motor, remove the transom mount and install it on the motorguide mount on the bow, if there are any diameter adjustments to be made, i have a lathe and some delrin to make any bushing to make it fit, i know i will be only gaining 9 ft lbs of thrust ober the motorguide 46lb thrust motor, but i think i will like a hand controlled bow mount over the foot controlled, if this will work any pros and cons of the minkota choice 5 position speed over the variable speed motor. any thoughts or suggestions. chet
  13. mainly speed, one thing i don't care for on the motorguide foot controlled motor, is when i have to use it in the high speed number 5, the foot control is very erratic hard to keep it in one position, i am constantly correcting it, to easy to turn, if it only had somekind of a friction adjustment to keep the direction more precise, in the first 3 speeds its good 4th can be touchy, but 5th speed so hard to steer it, it goes to the right, i correct goes to the left extremely ect, i never had any of these issues with my minkotas on other boats, i bought this boat used with this motor on it. chet
  14. i currently have a 14ft smokercraft v bottom boat, with a motorguide foot controlled 46lb thrust in the front, looking for some more power, i have 2 12 volt batteries in the boat now, question i have is if i mount another hand controlled motor on the transom, for example if i add a 50 lb thrust motor, will this actually be equal to approx 96lb thrust motor or am i missing something. chet
  15. it's that time again to service my reels, mainly baitcasters, has anyone ever experimented with different lubes, any in particular that stays on the gears. i have some clear grease called super lube, it's a multi purpose PTFE grease. any thoughts. chet
  16. well this a funny thing that happened today, i ordered a TFO rod from amazon, seller was kingfisher, now the rod i ordered was a 7ft one pc, for the life of me 7ft is 84 inches, the box it cam it was 78 inches, i left kingfisher a message how in the world did they stuff that rod in a 78 inch box and wondered why the tip was broke, dam that puzzles me, you can see where they bent the tip before they taped the box, beware of kingfisher outfitters. chet
  17. hmm dicks would have matched that price, not sure if its worth a 45 drive back to get the difference
  18. being new to braided line, will 50 cast as far as 20
  19. picked up the MP at dicks today 139.00 this next question could be a touchy topic, but what 20lb braid is a good all around line for this reel fishing and see what kind of distance i get out of it. chet
  20. one more thing, was reading that the new MP has aluminum gears vs the MB has brass gears, Dick's has the MB on sale for 120 any thoughts
  21. just found the lews tournament MP at Dicks with a 10% off code does anyone know the difference between the mb and the mp chet
  22. well i went to sportsman outfitters lews tournament mb sold out, any other places with decent pricing
  23. looks like i may give the lews MB a try thanks che ps what is the current deal on this reel now, and where
  24. hi kicker yes the phantom is a carbon frame with alum gears, but it is light, and i will find out how it holds up, the phantom x has brass gears, might be worth a shot, i will say the phantom reel cast the best so far of the reels i have, i think the lews LFS might be a bit smoother reeling in lures, but not by much. chet
  25. actually i did read that somewhere, hmm, any suggestions before i make the purchase. if not a SLX or the SLX XT which i was watching a video that the the XT outcast the regular SLX by a minimal distance.still deciding on the Shimano, maybe another Lews LFS or was looking at the Piscifun Phantom X in a 6.3 to 1
