  1. We Went Ice fishing for the last time this Year on Saturday 3/17. We went to Fish Lake in Central Utah. The lake sits in a valley at 8800 ft and has 2500 acres. Between the three of Us We caught over 45 Splake, 15 Rainbow Trout, 23 Perch, One Sucker( that became cut bait) and 1 Lake Trout. The Perch were small 6-10". The Splake and Rainbows were between 13-19". The Sucker was 17". And the Mac was 15 pounds and 35" long. My buddy got the top honors for the Lake Trout and I got the near miss award for loseing my Lake Trout at the hole. We used small ice flies with Meal worms, Wax worms, sucker, and night crawler for the Perch, Splake, and Rainbow Trout. We used 5" Tube jigs for the Lake trout. The weather was great. The ice was 20" thick but the edge were thinning quick. I went threw on the way off the ice. I was glad it was only up to my Knees. I have Pictures but I don't know how to up load them.
  2. Nice fish. We still have ice out here. At least for another week. I'm making my last ice fishing trip this weekend. Hoping to hook into some big Lake trout or perch.
  3. I like to use a night crawler and a hook and let the current drift the bait to the trout. If you don't have a fly Rod you could use a casting bubble and a fly.
  4. For any one interested in getting into Kayak fishing most kayak retailer's in the country have demo day's so people can try out diffent models. The one in Utah is in Late May. There are alot of companys that are catering to the fishing crowd more lately. I have a Malibu pro explorer fishing yak. Some other companies to check out are Cobra, Ocean kayak and Perception.
  5. I have a buddy who just bought a Hobie Mirage Adventure for fishing the ocean. He has been trying to convince me that I need one. I haven't been able to Demo one yet. Both of my yaks are 12ft long and I need to paddle them. I do need to up grade to a longer and more narrow kayak. I mostly fish large lakes. Nashiem how does your yak handle in weeds. Does the flippers get tangled with weeds. Tincanfsh
