I was talking about this with a fishing buddy this past weekend. A bad day on the water is better than a good day at work.
Prepping for a little tourney, I began to realize that I have a ton of stuff that I have never tried. I think that we all get complacent and go back to what we are comfortable fishing (from types of lures to colors). I forced myself to change it up a bit and focused on some plastics that I overlook. Surprisingly enough, I caught a lot of fish!
This also brings back memories of fishing with a buddy in Oklahoma when I was stationed there. My buddy, Ed, was just getting into bass fishing and he bought a bunch of cheap lures at Bass Pro out of the clearance bin. We were fishing in my secret spot (closed for most of the month due to being near an Impact Area) and he tied on the ugliest $1 lure that you have ever seen. He started yelling at me to help him and he pulled up a huge bucketmouth!
