  1. POSTED: 3:53 pm EDT June 23, 2009 UPDATED: 5:40 pm EDT June 23, 2009 CINCINNATI -- If you plan on visiting an Ohio state park this summer, you had better B.Y.O.B. -- bring your own bag. The state park service removed garbage containers from parks like Hueston Woods State Park about a month ago to help cut costs. Visitors are now greeted at 30 state parks with signs asking them to collect their own garbage and take it with them when they leave. Removing garbage containers is expected to save $2,500 a year, which the park service plans to use for basic maintenance. Visitors to state parks could face $500 fines if they fail to clean up after themselves. The above story appeared on the Channel 5 News website the other night.Well this morning I contacted several offices in the Ohio area and was finally able to talk to someone in the Natural Resources office who told me that not all the trash containers will be removed from all the Ohio state Parks.Just those trash containers in un-populated areas of those State Parks will be removed.Somehow someone at these parks misunderstood and passed along incorrect info to the media.
  2. I guess my curiousity has got the best of me. I'm not singling out any particular fishing/hunting sites/forums I'm talking about them in a general sense of the word. Why is it when someone posts a topic on these sites does it seem to be the very same ones who reply to them seem to always make time and knowingly/purposely to belittle and demean the original poster of those threads instead of just moving on to another topic? I can't begin to see , understand, nor get the pleasure of why people do what they do and I guess I'm not suppose to. These kinds of people must have a VERY BORING life or HAVE No life at all.It seems like the Adminstrators nor Moderators of these sites do absolutly nothing and just let things go. I've seen alot of threads on several sites that I belong to where I scan through different topics on them to see if it's anything I'm interested in or just ignore them all together and move on to another part of that site. I've seen from time to time members here on Bassresource have on occassion have had their disagreements on certain topics but at least the Administrator and Mods do their very best to take care of the issues when they arise before they get to far out of hand. That's why I'm so impressed with Glenn's site and the Mods here. I don't post on here much but this site feels like a safe haven for me and the way things are handled here. Not that long ago I had a phone converstion with an Administrator of a hunting/fishing site where they admitted to me that they just let things go and I told him that that was probably why he's loosing some of his sponsors and most of his membership.
  3. My boyfriend goes fishing more than 2x's a week and I go with him. I can't throw the line out like I used to because of my mistake shoulder but I do help guard his pole and will remove the fish when he catches one. There are times when I don't feel like going with him but I'd never stop him from going and doing something he really enjoys. To me that would be selfish of me to do so. If my boyfriend didn't like the outdoors as much as I do and didn't enjoy hunting and fishing I'd of dumped him along time ago.
  4. I belong to several fishing/hunting sites and there's one particular site where the site Admin/Owner admitted to me on the phone when I called him in regards of why I was leaving that site that he just lets members do as they wish. I told that Admin that that was probably why he was having all the problems he does. Besides I guess if you're not part of the clicks on that site you don't count and are treated like outsiders. Members on that particular site are allowed to harrass, belittle, purposely/knowingly goad members in stupid disagreements and nothing is done. I've only been a member of Bassresource for a short time but have wittnessed for myself that Glen and the Mods don't tolerate any crap from anyone and nor should they have to. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I'm a blonde and even I think this is funny. ;D ;D ;D Three blondes are sitting by the side of a river holding fishing poles with the lines in the water. A game warden comes up behind them, taps them on the shoulder and says, "Excuse me, ladies, I'd like to see your fishing licenses." "We don't have any." replied the first blonde. "Well, if you're going to fish, you need fishing licenses." said the game warden. "But officer," replied the second blonde, "we aren't fishing. We all have magnets at the end of our lines and we're collecting debris off the bottom of the river." The game warden lifted up all the lines and, sure enough, there were horseshoe magnets tied on the end of each line. "Well, I know of no law against it." said the game warden. "Take all the debris you want." And with that, the game warden left. As soon as the game warden was out of sight, the three blondes started laughing hysterically. "What a dumb Fish Cop," the second blonde said to the other two. "Doesn't he know that there are Steelheads in this river?"
  6. I use image shack then it doesn't matter whether the pics are jpeg etc there's no troubles uploading them.
  7. Cheesy Baked Walleye Fillets 4-6 walleye fillets depending on the size Cheese sauce: 6 0z. Velveeta 1 tablespoon butter 2 -3 tablespoons of milk depending on how thick of sauce you like 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon onion powder salt & pepper to taste Heat oven at 350. Combine all ingredients for cheese sauce in a sauce pan and cook over medium heat on stove top. Cook until cheese is melted and ingredients are well blended. Place the fillets in coated baking dish and sprinkle with lemon pepper. Pour cheese sauce over fillets and bake for 20-25 minutes. Serve with rice side dish and vegetable. Cheese sauce can be altered depending on if you like more or less flavor or hotter, such as, a dash of Louisiana Hot sauce or other flavors.
  8. Sexing bass during the spawning season it is pretty straightforward. The mature females will have noticeably extended bellies (filled with eggs) or sunken bellies (eggs have been laid). Most of these females will also have an 'ovipositor' (small, tube-like structure that is usually red) extending from their 'urogenital opening' (the opening on their underside where they also discharge wastes). The other bass we assume are mature males, at least the largest ones. The smaller bass are a mix of immature females and males, but we don't know how to tell them apart without cutting them open to look for eggs or milt. During the rest of the year it is the same problem. There is no guaranteed way to know if a bass is a female or male by just looking at them. I asked my tournament friends who handle bass all the time and they agree that it is not possible to accurately sex a bass from looks alone. Hope this helps.
  9. When I'm bored I just come to BR to read some of the posts in the Everything Else threads.
  10. WHY

Kind of hard to skip 96.875% of the forum. :-X Occasionally people don't behave as we would hope, and unfortunately we have no control over that. But no matter what, don't let an occassional 'Bad Apple' spoil the whole bunch. Some people just try to wind others up and it messes them up when you don't fall for it. I know it's hard to do but I've learned to just ingore those kinds of threads and move on. It's not worth getting overly concerned/ worked up about those kinds of people cause it's probably unlikely that you'll never if ever meet up with those persons anyhow. Besides they're just a username.
  11. The kind that needs washing, cutting and combing.
  12. Thank God It's Friday A business man got on an elevator in a building. When he entered the elevator, there was a blonde already inside and she greeted him by saying, "T-G-I-F" (letters only). He smiled at her and replied, "S-H-I-T" (letters only)." She looked at him, puzzled, and said, "T-G-I-F" again. He acknowledged her remark again by answering, "S-H-I-T." The blond was trying to be friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile and said as sweetly as possibly "T-G-I-F" another time. The man smiled back to her and once again replied with a quizzical expression, "S-H-I-T." The blond finally decided to explain things, and this time she said, "T-G-I-F, Thank Goodness It's Friday, get it?" The man answered, "Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday."

  16. Here's a link which contains some info regarding tofu. http://www.soya.be/what-is-tofu.php
  17. :)I just posted them plus the link where I obtained the info. I had to do it in two seperate copy and pastes. The article was two pages long.
  18. Here's the link where I obtained this info. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15111438/ Myth No. 1. He didn't fit the profile. In fact, there is no profile. There is no accurate or useful profile' of students who engaged in targeted school violence, the researchers found. The stereotypes of teens in Goth makeup or other types of dress are not useful in preventing attacks. Just as in other areas of security -- workplace violence, airplane hijacking, even presidential assassination -- too many innocent students will fit any profile you can come up with, and too many attackers will not. The demographic, personality, school history, and social characteristics of the attackers varied substantially, the report said. Attackers were of all races and family situations, with academic achievement ranging from failing to excellent. Most, but not all, have been male, though that fact alone doesn't help an adult rule in or out someone as dangerous. Myth No. 2. He just snapped. Rarely were incidents of school violence sudden, impulsive acts. Attackers do not just snap, but progress from forming an idea, to planning an attack, to gathering weapons. This process can happen quickly, but sometimes the planning or gathering weapons are discoverable. Although the researchers point out that there is no "type of student" who is likely to commit such violence, there are "types of behaviors" that are common to planning or carrying out the attacks. This pattern, they say, gives some hope of intervening before an attack. Myth No. 3. No one knew. Before most of the attacks, someone else knew about the idea or the plan. "In most cases, those who knew were other kids: friends, schoolmates, siblings and others. However, this information rarely made its way to an adult." Most attackers engaged in some behavior prior to the incident that caused concern or indicated a need for help. Myth No. 4. He hadn't threatened anyone. Too much emphasis is placed on threats. Most attackers did not threaten anyone explicitly ("I'm going to kill the principal"), and most threateners don't ever attack anyone. But less explicit words can reveal an intention, the researchers say. A child who talks of bringing a gun to school, or being angry at teachers or classmates, can pose a threat, whether or not an explicit threat is made. Myth No. 5. He was a loner. In many cases, students were considered in the mainstream of the student population and were active in sports, school clubs or other activities. Only one-quarter of the students hung out with a group of students considered to be part of a fringe group. Myth No. 6. He was crazy. Only one-third of the attackers had ever been seen by a mental health professional, and only one-fifth had been diagnosed with a mental disorder. Substance abuse problems were also not prevalent. However, most attackers showed some history of suicidal attempts or thoughts, or a history of feeling extreme depression or desperation. Most attackers had difficulty coping with significant losses or personal failures. Myth No. 7. If only we'd had a SWAT team or metal detectors. Despite prompt law enforcement responses, most shooting incidents were over well before a SWAT team could have arrived. Metal detectors have not deterred students who were committed to killing themselves and others. Myth No. 8. He'd never touched a gun. Most attackers had access to weapons, and had used them prior to the attack. Most of the attackers acquired their guns from home. Myth No. 9. We did everything we could to help him. "Many attackers felt bullied, persecuted or injured by others prior to the attack," and said they had tried without success to get someone to intervene. Administrators and teachers were targeted in more than half the incidents. Myth No. 10. School violence is rampant. It may seem so, with media attention focused on a spate of school shootings. In fact, school shootings are extremely rare. Even including the more common violence that is gang-related or dispute-related, only 12 to 20 homicides a year occur in the 100,000 schools in the U.S. In general, school assaults and other violence have dropped by nearly half in the past decade.
