Falcon Rods Has Excellent Customer Service!
I was talking to a customer the other day about falcon rods. He told me that he had one that needed warranty repair, but falcon told him it would be 10-12 weeks to return his rod. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

Ever do this?
Either I miss one guide on the rod, or I forget to thread the line through the levelwind eye of the reel. Happens more than I'd like to admit it.

Cork Minority...
Now that is a good argument. ;D

Cork Minority...
Well said.

Is braided line sporting
Huh? I feel the sport is locating fish and enticing the bite with an artificial lure. Besides, the common goal is to put a big bass in the boat right? Why wouldn't you use any advantage you could get your hands on? I've caught big bass 6' away from me in 2' of water out of kissimme grass, and there's no way I would have done it without braid. But I guess there's always the argument that that is not sporting either.

Cork Minority...
I've seen a lot of talk about cleaning and maintaining cork on this message board. It's had me thinking, "am the only one who likes my cork to look old?" I've never had any problems with the cork ever deteriorating... and I'm sitting here looking at some rods that are 10+ years old. Is it for aesthetics only? Am the only one who likes old dirty cork grips?

What reel are you using for flipping?
Oh snap, Didn't realize that. Guess it wouldn't do good on a toad rod either (what I bought it for originally) Really didn't know though, Guess I keep it through the rigors and see how it holds up. I still use a lot of old green curados, I keep one of my other flipping stick. Has held up well, although far from perfect.

What reel are you using for flipping?
Wow, I really expected to hear more reports on daiwas, Pfluegers, Revos, Quantums, etc. I used a Revo SX for a brief stint before losing the rod overboard. (bad story) It seemed like it would be good. Real small reel, palmed great.

Florida Swimbaits...?
Thanks Avid, I'll check those out.

Florida Swimbaits...?
Think I'll try the mattlures ultimate bluegill. What color would you guys use in Central FL?
-
Florida Swimbaits...?
Is anyone using these things in Florida? I'm looking at these Mattlures bluegills thinking... "man, I'm pretty sure that watermelon jig/trailer is probably imitating a bluegill, why not try using this thing?" I guess I've always figured they were a west coast thing. Anyone?

properly weighing a fish
Boga Grip. Best hundred dollars ever spent.

What reel are you using for flipping?
I've been flipping lately with a Pflueger Summit and am beginning to notice a little noise coming from the reel. I'm curious what reels you guys are using for heavy cover flipping (braid) and hearing how the reels have held up to the abuse. Is there even such a reel that can really come out of this sort of abuse day in and day out and still feel smooth as the day you bought it?

Interlux paint, spray on or roll on?
This is what you want to do. Do your self a favor and spend the extra money and buy the interlux two part perfection paint. They sell it at West Marine. You can contact Interlux and they'll send you a dvd on Perfection application. This stuff comes out looking like a mirror when it's done.

Good , inexpensive bigginer boat?
I bought a '99 G3 1544 modified v w/ Yamaha 15 hp outboard, performance trailer, motorguide 43# foot control, fully decked, carpeted for $1500. The motor only had 20 hours on it. Yes, GREAT deals can be had. I'd go nuts with $5000 to spend on a boat.

Go-To
This week, 1/2 ounce booyah jig in watermelon w/ zoom super hog trailer in watermelon as well.

Let's talk Flipping Sticks
I think I'll try the Crucial out. I was able to fish a Team All-Star 7'6" out today (telescopic), thought it was a nice rod but it just seems that I've got to be missing in the sensitivity department. Nobody has anything to say about the Quantum 8'?

abu garcia or quantam
I didn't realize that quantum was viewed so badly by so many. Good to know...

Let's talk Flipping Sticks
Well, since I just lost a Kistler (don't want to get into it, just remember to use your rodsavers on your deck) I'm in the market for a new flipping stick. The Kistler was nice, but wasn't the high line one- the $150 one they sell @ gander mountain. I'm thinking Shimano Crucial, mainly because it's one piece and it's @ my price point. I would also like to discuss telescopic vs one piece blanks. Thoughts? I don't really need a telescopic rod being that I store my rods on deck all the time anyway. Are there really any other advantages of telescopic blanks other than storage concerns? Also- has anyone used the Gary Klein flipping stick from Quantum? It's perked my interest, but am not sure because of the "slow parabolic bend" I do live in Central Florida, so heavy cover is prevalent, and braid is a must.

Doa shrimp
The key is fishing them S-L-O-W Most of the hits I get are when the bait is stopped.

favorite jig/trailer combo
I've been fishing a Booyah 1/2 ounce jig w/ a Zoom Super Hog as a trailer w/ great success. What is everyone else using?

is foot control that important?
I used to be die hard hand control. Then I bought a boat with a foot control. At first, I hated it. Didn't know what the hell I was doing... Stuck it out for a few outings... I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I think the akwardness might scare some people off at first as it did me. Nobody steps on that pedal and does it right the first time... If you're on the fence, bite the bullet and try it, you'll be happy you did.

Baitcaster maintenance
I hate to admit this, but I've never taken good care of my reels, I've always taken them in for a yearly overhaul, but I'm sure I should be doing more at home, plus I'd rather do it myself. Now that I'm accumulating some higher end stuff, I should really get on the ball... lube, grease? what where? I only use my baitcasters in freshwater, and I probably fish 3-5 times a week. What should I be doing? Thanks in advance...

Flippin Stick Gear ratio?/rod reccomendations
For a rod, look at the Shimano Crucial series. One piece 7'6" blank for $150. I like a small, fast reel, like a Pflueger Summit or a Revo 7.1:1

What makes a Senko a Senko
It's the same thing that makes them so delicate- The amount of salt used. Not sure why it's not replicated. Possibly copyright or whatever it is.
