Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
They are bullet proof and well made. I paired mine with the Steez AGS 7’4 for frogging and punching. Never felt low on torque. As a heads up, if you want to step into a better reel for marginally more cash the 21 Zillion HD is the big brother to the elite. It’s JDM only right now but it looks stellar and the reviews have been fantastic.

What technique should be your best rod
My topwater and jb rods are $400+ because they are light and balance well. Gear price doesn’t matter all to much once you’re above the $50 dollar mark. The diminished returns on a $600 stick compared to a $200 one is often hard to justify. I have an enthusiast mindset where I buy and sell a lot of high end gear each year as I try new brands or models. Very few rods are “untouchable”, but the ones I do tend to keep long term are often $300+.

I gave away what I thought was ~ $300 dollars worth of unopened baits for Christmas and it barely made a dent. I feel ya man.

I’ve not heard as much grumbling about shipping times this holiday. I’d give them a call and see if there is an issue with something being out of stock.

Medium Size Swim Jig
I love the Keitech swim jig for anything medium cover or higher because it’s totally weedless. Open water I throw a paddle tail with an exposed hook, in cover I use the keitech with a hog farmer spunk shad and it just slithers through cover. Can even pitch it into the nasty stuff and ping pong it out.

Ideal rod & reel characteristics for TX Rig / flipping setup?
Those weights there are two rods I think of. Megabass X-Bites St. Croix Legend Xtreme 7’1” MHXF After a year of use I sold my X-Bites to try a NRX+ 893, sold it after two outings to buy the Legend Xtreme. I wanted a 5/16 to 3/8oz trig and finesse jig rod and the Croix is the best. The MB was a very close second. The 893 was absolutely not the rod I wanted. Tip heavy, and wasn’t as sensitive as the MB. Reel is dealers choice. You can’t go wrong with the new Zillion HD (JDM) Lews skip/pitch or even a standard Met. I prefer lighter reels, but I still use a bantam and revo x for their specific cases.

Ideal rod & reel characteristics for TX Rig / flipping setup?
Where I live the t-rig is a full contact sport. I might throw 1/4 finesse jigs near open water but my standard rig is 1/2 to 3/4 jigs with trailer. If you go down the lightweight rabbit hole the price of gear will skyrocket to save some grams.

7ft medium fast baitcasting rod?
My Legend Elite 7’ medium is my absolute favorite rod. I ask myself about the below if I’m needing to fill a slot for a tourney or just to beat the bank. Senkos? 1/4 - 3/8th Drop shot? Finesse jigs? Topwater? Squarebills? 1/4oz - 3/8 chatterbaits? 3” - 4”Paddletails? The only thing I can’t do is throw an A-rig, frog, or punch with it.

Grandebass Sale
The brand is having a 50% softbaits off sale. I’ve not tried anything they make, is there something I should give a shot? I primarily throw Reaction Innovations or Missile Baits.

I wish the normal brand exclusions applied only in writing. Love their selection, don’t love paying full price + 10% sales tax. Going to miss TTT.

Adding autopilot trolling motor to PDL kayak?
If using the pedals isn’t going to work sell it and buy a boat. You will almost always adjust position with your pedals or paddle as an electric motor will not have the granular movement you’ll want in a yak. On a yak you’re up close and personal much more than in a boat and small adjustments are all you’ll need. If you need a trolling motor to handle all of your movement you choose in the wrong brand. Sell the Old Town and buy a Native or Hobie. They both have manufacturer made transoms for mounting motors that don’t void your warranty. I use one on my Titan, and it bolted directly on.

Megabass Orochi XX?
I ran a Brailist for 2 years before moving into a 873crr. I actually prefer the 7’5 length for jigs, and the sensitivity was good enough I never missed fish.

Ultimate 7'6 spinning rod: NRX+ 902 vs Daiwa Steez AGS 7'6 MML "the one"
I sold 3 AGS rods this year to fund other purchases and I’m kicking myself. They are in my mind the best line of rods on the market today. The ONLY drawback and it’s a minor one for most people is the 5 year warranty. I fish from a yak so St. Croix and Loomis provide me a slightly higher sense of security.

What NRX+ Spinning Rod would be like a 6'8"-6'10" MF from SC?
I love the NRX+ rods I still own. Key word is “still”. I’ve turned and burned through 5 models of the NRX+ line this year to get a feel for “what I was missing.” The reality is at that price point you’re splitting hairs. While the NRX might be .01% more sensitive than a legend elite, it costs twice as much. If you’re an enthusiast and the cost doesn’t matter, take the plunge. Just be aware your socks won’t be blown off. If you’re set on the NRX or Conquest lines I can’t make a solid recommendation for a versatile spinning rod. I’ve only fished the 852/872 and those sticks are very fast tips. From what I gather the Conquest lines are softer as they are all MBR like tapers. Good luck choosing and I hope you catch a ton with the new stick!

St Croix Warranty
Depending on stock you can have delays. Right now they are building ice and walleye rods. My full turn around was 3 weeks on my old legend X. Croixs upper end rods are fantastic for the dollar and go on sale regularly. TFO never really pulled me in as an enthusiast but folks speak highly of them.

Any real (reel world?) world reviews of the Daiwa Tatula PF?
The warranty doesn’t scare me nearly as much on reels vs rods. I can always replace some fiddley bit in a reel but can’t fix a cracked blank. Good luck and snag some deals!

Any real (reel world?) world reviews of the Daiwa Tatula PF?
It’s a new zillion, so all the hyper gearing and features which are utterly fantastic. I’ve sold multiple Metaniums to buy Zillions. It’s the best reel on the market for general purpose bass fishing. The HD is the same reel with the USDM brass gears and the 100mm handle. Drag doesn’t matter for bass fishing as long as it’s smooth.
