Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
Off-subject: I had (notice past tense) a bottle of Mezcal "con guzano" in my cabinet for years, thinking, I'm NOT drinking that stuff. But being flat out of anything else interesting at one point, finally I did. I'll probably never buy another bottle of Tequila. Earthy. Which direction? I've lost track. The Elite P/F?

Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
Looks like you're right. JDM misleading at times. Only found one source for the actual dimensions of the reel. What with comparing conversions and stuff... I finally found two sites with the same winding statistics for both models. The upgrade seems like a total no-brainer. Thank YOU !

Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
Awesome sounding reel !! Only 7 oz. The MagZ Boost could make a significant difference sitting in a kayak. Actually there's a 22 model now. "Marginally," yet a little more than the 21. I'll see what happens when I do damage to a shot or two of Mezcal (regarding ignoring budget). They're both amazing. The 22 has a little more spool capacity.

TOP GUN: Maverick
I joined Paramount+ just to watch Maverick. I might try it again but it seemed to lack soul. Also disliked the special effects. Plastic all around for me. (The original was great. You can’t “go back.”). Also wanted to watch original Yellowstone but it’s not on P+ anymore. I canceled. Then joined Peacock for Yellowstone and hated that too. Cancelled Peacock. Not a good TV day for me. Then rented Sister Act on Amazon. Went to bed happy.

Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
Thanks. Guessing with a slimmed down task specific reel, this is part of the price of admission? I feel awkward with most aspects of a low-profile reel. Yes.

Daiwa Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip Reel
Just bought Shimano XHvy Fast 7'11" rod for punching. This Daiwa reel caught my attention. Anyone have it? Like it? Hate it? Disdain it?

Obnoxious sleepers...
Many years ago I was on a "trip of a lifetime" - horseback safari in Kenya. The trip was a large circle over 10 days, so we tented out every night, just like in the Tarzan movies except for wonderful catered meals under a large tent. The participants had the option of single or double occupancy - I chose single so this isn't about me. Point being that if you chose to double up you didn't know who your tent mate might be. There were two English ladies on the trip who were tentmates. I don't think they knew each other before the trip. One of them was a loud snorer. I figured it helped keep the lions away. They seemed to make it okay for about half the trip. Then one night around 2 or 3am, one of the ladies shreiked, "SHUT UUUUUUUUPPPP"!! It woke everybody. I guess the she had finally been pushed past the brink. Alternate arrangements were made, and they barely spoke to each other for the remainder of the trip.

What's your Heavy Pitching/Flipping/Punching rod setup??
Interesting. Thanks. What is you preference for gear ratio? There are interesting discussions about this for flipping/pitching vs. punching in in heavy vegetation.

You have any MUST-SEE holiday movies?
This one needs to be added to the canon of great American holiday movies. At this point, I'm basically paying a couple hundred a month so I can turn on and watch Turner Classic Movies at any time. Plus a few other programs, but real-time TCM is worth it for me. Anyway, the film is All Mine to Give, 1957. No major stars, unless you remember Glynis Johns as the Mother in "Mary Poppins." But flawless acting all around, a beautiful background musical score, combined with a great heart-wrenching family story that culminates on Christmas Day. If this one doesn't get you, check your pulse.

Bye bye BaitMonkey
Heart goes out to you and your kids. I’m an adult child of alcoholics. Several, actually. Both parents and a succession of subsequent marriages of my mother’s that repeated the horror. Kids can need specialized professional attention to recover and get back on their own track, as you probably already know. So great that you reached out to your community for sharing and support.

Reel to pair with IMX Pro 843c MBR
Just sticking my nose in for a big thank-you to Scott. I've had my eye on a Bantam for months now. Just got a decent deal on an 18 model from JDM. Had to pay a little shipping, but Digitaka was out of the model I wanted in both the 22 and the 18. Far be it from me to be recommending a reel to anyone, but the buzz I've noted about the Bantam is that it's a solid workhorse, but also very downwards-versatile ... that you can put it on practically any [casting] rod.

Favorite Lake for Tomorrow is a PITA
I was thinking of a spinnerbait too, as sortve a substitute for an A-Rig. Similar presentation, it seems to me, on a smaller scale? Yeah, I thinking that dialing back my ambition might help putting me out there. Since “being there” is the best teacher, right now I need to make it more about enjoying myself than hook-up numbers. There’s a ton to be learned just throwing lures in our local lakes. Thanks for responding.

Favorite Lake for Tomorrow is a PITA
We're having a couple of mild days this week. Partly sunny tomorrow, and I want to fish. Choices include (1) a standard, typical bassy sort of lake, or (2) a regular pain in the a$$ lake that I happen to love beyond any reason. I've chosen (2). I've never caught a bass there. In fact, the only two fish I've ever caught there were on the same afternoon and about 5 minutes apart (brown trout, using a Rapala jerk bait steadily retrieved in the main lake on a random cast. This might help more than my description. file:///C:/Users/lowwa/Documents/Fishing/Locations and Notes/Aeroflex Depth Graphic.pdf If you look at the PDF, it can be enlarged so the numbered can be read. It's quite steep and deep, and I'm in a kayak with no electronics. Guessing I should come prepared to address different depths of the water column. Can only do three rods, but can tie-on in the field. Thoughts include DD cranks, spybait and sinking spoons, possibly jerkbaits for the main lake for any LLSalmon or Lake Trout that might be around. I would want to try an A-rig, for practice in casting if nothing else, but I don't happen to have one. Does anyone have any inspired ideas? Thanks!

Forgot my big personal favorite - The Bishops Wife. That one is still a must-see. (Cary Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young, Elsa Lanchester, Gladys Cooper.)???

You have any MUST-SEE holiday movies?
Great Classics in no particular order: Remember the Night; The Man Who Came To Dinner; Holiday Affair; Meet Me in St. Louis; The Shop Around the Corner. They're not "must-sees" for me now because I've seen them many times. Maybe one of them might become a "must-see" for you!

7ft medium fast baitcasting rod?
I'd keep it. I've made the mistake of ordering something, not using it much and getting rid of it, THEN discovering I had a use for it and having to buy it again. Just keep it.

“Swimbait” - Confusing terminology
True. When I just type "jerkbait" in on TWH, all of the baits that come up are the hard ones. But, "soft plastic jerkbaits" gets some returns too. But the fact that there are so few of these proves your point. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=30&prevsearch=jerkbaits&searchtext=soft+plastic+jerkbaits

“Swimbait” - Confusing terminology
Now that you mention it, yes, I think. But maybe the difference between hard and soft jerkbaits isn’t as pronounced as between the different styles of baits that share the designation of “swim bait.”
