  1. Thank you! Will do. Apologies for getting off topic here
  2. Anyone here have experience with pedal driven kayaks? I have a traditional fishing kayak, it works well, and I have a ton of fun but there are times I look at those with PDL drives or even built in trolling motors wishing I had the same to help counter the wind, stay on the same spot, and help me effectively fish larger bodies of water. Only things holding me back are price (part of me would rather just stick to traditional kayaking/paddling and save my money for when I have the space to get a tracker or smaller jon boat w/ trolling motor and outboard) and ease of use. The price outright isn't that bad, I'm just unsure of the return I'll receive from spending 1300+ on a kayak lol. Right now my kayak weighs around 50 lbs and I can easily throw it in the bed of my truck and dump it in the water without using a dolly/worrying about banging it around a little. Just really hard to stay on spots I've marked and get across a big lake without taking an eternity/spinning around with wind when I'm fishing 'offshore'. Wouldn't mind partaking in a KBF tournament at some point either Any insight would be great! Thanks guys
  3. @MassYak85 have you ever been successful catching Pike on the Concord/Sudbury rivers? I’ve been trying to catch one but no luck there. Perhaps there’s other better spots? I never imagined I would struggle so much trying to catch basically a giant pickerel seeing I catch far too many of those ?.....but perhaps underestimating the pike is my first mistake!
  4. Managed to log out of work a little early yesterday evening to try and get my first bass of the year. Prior to last night I had been out twice for maybe an hour a piece with nothing to show for it (not even a pickerel). Brought my kayak and launched on the Concord River. I had only about an hour or two at most so I made quick work of some rocks and lay downs along the shore with jig and chatterbait. With no luck, and daylight waning, I figured the bass were probably done ‘sunning’ themselves at this point in the day so I searched for vertical structure in, or adjacent to, deeper water where the bass could adjust depth easily. Came across a bridge and landed 3 bass in short succession off a finesse jig (orange/pumpkin) and Ned rig (for a few timid bites I kept missing). To the side of the bridge were some emergent rocks and deep water so I pitched to it and set the hook on a 4.6 LMB (picture below - looks a little short on the GoPro). At this point I was satisfied and hauled back to the launch before it got too dark. First few bass of the season! Hope to get out tomorrow for a little more than a couple hours
  5. I doubt it. At most there may be a couple spots where there's a light film but I also think with the wind it will be too turbulent to ice over. Can't wait for next week's warm spell. After that I think we are in the clear.....
  6. Ha, I'm almost positive I have that model in my shopping cart on tackle warehouse right now - they look real nice. I had the same dilemma with the larger swimbaits. Really wanted to just devote a bunch of time using them to get something real big but I succumbed to my impatience......and here I am with no big fall fish!
  7. Thank you! I've been following these forums for years and finally decided I should contribute . I've made just a handful of posts so far but you'll be seeing more of me!
  8. I was able to get out on Friday in my kayak as yesterday was pouring/snowing all day. Water temps were around 42-43 F. Natural pond just south of the NH border, have caught my PB there before (actually this past spring!). Couldn't find any fish for the first hour or so, didn't see any on my Lowrance on the steep drop offs or deeper pockets. Bagged a nice yellow perch on a red lipless but then switched to the Vision 110 and bagged 2 LMB in short succession of one another. They appeared to be schooled up on a deep flat with hard bottom. Both fish were around a pound, maybe a bit more, so nothing big but good looking bass with nice color. Felt good to get a couple of them in December. Hoping to get out later this week or Saturday as it is supposed to warm up again and maybe I can get something a bit bigger (fishingreal slowwww). I'm just going to keep throwing jerkbaits and blade baits until ice presents itself. Hope everyone is able to find some luck!
  9. Glad you had a good outing! I had similar results...water temp was low after a cool night and morning hovering around 39-40 up on the Nashua River (has since gone up a bit). I was slowly twitching a vision 110 in around 5-8 FOW. Caught just one bass, a few crappie, and several big pickerel....one went over 4 lbs it was the biggest I think I've ever caught lol. Never caught many crappie up in that area before this weekend, so I'm hoping their population isn't blossoming and thus competing for small prey with smaller bass that still need to grow! I think, based on the fact my pickerel/crappie to bass ratio was so high, I should have targeted some deeper areas/drop offs but they are few and far between on some of these rivers. What were the water temps for you? I'm hoping to bag some decent bass this December with the extended forecast looking fairly mild in MA

  11. Fished a cove off the Nashua river on Sunday....53-54 degrees. Bass were biting small swimbaits and square bill cranks. Tons of baitfish jumping everywhere and managed to bag a handful of small bass and one huge pickerel but nothing big. Went again today and had very little success. Really want to try and get a few large fall bass in the upcoming weeks on swimbaits while I can before I switch to mainly jerkbaits in December, assuming the water temp dives to mid-lower 40's and they stop biting some of the faster moving stuff Hope everyone has some good chances to get out this week/weekend!
  12. Is that a beast coast jig? Lol I swear I saw that pic on their IG story. Either way, nice bass and glad you had a great outing!
  13. Yeah it was actually my first time there so I can’t say otherwise....I’m trying to find a decent spot not too far from Boston I can consistently go to but the search continues. Grew up in northern MA which obviously isn’t far but live in Boston for work so have limited time to spend driving to places to fish
  14. Hit lake Cochituate this morning. Caught a pickerel with a Keitech and underspin. Was using a squarebill around lay downs but a bit weedy so switched to a black and blue jig and landed a decent bass off a downed tree, maybe 2.5 lbs? Felt good to avoid the skunk and get a decent bass today although would’ve liked more fish. I was in a kayak and had to paddle a ways so I’m sure if I was in a boat (which I don’t have lol) or on a smaller body of water I would’ve had a decent bag. Definitely encouraging! Curious how I’ll do this week.....
  15. That’s real weird. Were you fishing any particular structure? I thought today would be great and I was wishing I was on the water. I’m going tomorrow but will see how that is lol.....
  16. Thanks man I’ll do just that and report back! It’s been sort of warm recently so j wonder if that fall bite is still around the corner.....and also happy Friday to you as well!
  17. I guess it HAS been pretty warm so far this fall so you’re probably right. I think a cold front is going through Saturday night and Sunday is gonna be like 20 degrees cooler than Saturday. I’m supposed to fish that day and it will probs be tough with the cold front passing through (Naturally) but again, I think you’re right....as the week progresses it’s going to be consistent cool weather and maybe that will trigger something. I’ll report back on how I do on Sunday. Also gonna try and fish during the week to really test that cool weather and the full moon!
  18. same here, I can’t get any bites the past week or so....I wonder if I need to switch to more of a horizontal presentation (I.e. chatterbait, swim bait, cranks as opposed to something like a jig....)? I figure at this time of year we are in the typical fall patterns but man it’s frustrating not getting bites when this time of year is supposed to be so productive
  19. hi everyone! New to the forums, hope everyone has a chance to get out this weekend! Fished some spots north of Boston this past week. Got a couple decent fish on a jig with rage craw trailer but haven’t got much the last few times out. Should I switch over to more horizontal moving baits seeing we are in the thick of fall? thanks!
  20. Hi All, Just wanted to introduce myself! I'm Brian, I've been following the forums on this site for years and finally decided to make an account. I'm from Northern MA right below the NH border and fish the Nashua often as well as some spots in Hollis and up as far as Concord. Not sure if a lot of you guys still use this thread or another but would love to take part in discussion and if anyone has any tips for threads/groups to join for the Southern NH/Northern MA area I'd really appreciate it! Cheers Brian
