I’ve never caught anything on green pumpkin either, confidence is a big factor I think, I have tons of confidence in a white single tail grub. the strangest example is catching bass on a rainbow trout pattern when there’s no trout in the lake, go figure? must be size and action that really matters!

A lot of slick ad campaigns to make a buck off gullible anglers mostly i don’t think manufacturers have our best interest at heart or the pro’s but that’s just my opinion

Stripers not topless strippers lol they make hard runs too Not really faster it’s just a method of playing fish without them breaking off also keep your rod high at 11 o’clock if they make a run you can drop your rod to the water giving them room to run

I don’t think it matters most of the time! bass are not normally selective feeders, opportunistic feeders mostly. Just my experience no right or wrong answer here. Don’t know why? But even on a lake dominated by shad you can catch bass on a solid black spinner bait? a pond dominated by blue gill you can still catch bass on white spinner baits? why are lipless crankbait in crawdad color when the action of the bait has nothing in common with a crawdad? i generally match the forage color white or chartreuse or pearl for shad crawdad patterns for crawdad lakes white for frogs and small snakes or 6 inch ribbon worms fished on top weightless like small snake, the bottom of snakes and frogs are white. generally I fish opposite of the light level to be more visible low light or dark water I fish white or chartreuse bright light or clear water I fish black or purple i know that’s bassackwards to what most anglers do. i think hunger and lure action are far more important factors for strikes

I think you can catch just as many on inline spinners, sassy shads, white single tail grubs, and beatle spins, but aging north Texas riprap not a lot of creyfish or crawdaddies mostly small shad

Gimmicks and gadgets are the curse of the sportsman! and also the crazes that hit, I’ve seen hundreds come and go, I remember when the flipping craze hit, everyone had to have a flipping stick, never caught a bass that way always something latest and greatest! new and improved! seen or lied about on tv! this ones banned by all tournaments in Texas cos it catches ever fish in the lake, etc! Whatever! fisherman means gullible and stupid I guess? whats your favorite ripoff! i think the manufacturers dream up these things just to make a buck! a sucker is born everyday I guess? most successful and reliable lures are inexpensive no name generic baits like the humble single tail grub

St. Croix rods are great quality but a little pricy

Most Texas riprap has thread fin shad so I fish white pearl or silver, anyone fish a tail dragger, I cast a no. 7 rapala behind the boat and secure the rod, the boat gives it its action while I fish the riprap from the front, catch extra bass and stragglers that way

In a calm protected cove anchor the boat at the mouth of the cove, cast a no. 7 rapala silver or gold color close to shoreline cover and don’t move it, leave it for five to ten minutes, then spend that time fishing a drop or split shot on the points and deep cover areas, bad will explode that rapala

Where to get discontinued stuff, some online companies can make stuff for you but you got to search it out, wish somebody still made the bill Norman snatrix a 6 inch ribbon tail worm I would fish in summer around grass and pads weightless, caught tons, any 6 inch ribbon tail would work I guess but those snatrix were exceptional the bass really attacked it with violent strikes

We had about 15 independent tackle dealers in dfw until they built two bps after selling very low priced and took over they spiked prices thru the roof, free enterprise I guess but sounds like dirty pool to me so I don’t shop there but there’s one left and they make most of their own lures

I would say it’s a beatle spin cos I fished farm ponds and small lakes for decades, I lived on a farm and fished every evening for two yrs except when it was cold, lots on worms and top waters too!

Sweet, bass pro bought cabelas, Walmart academy for generics is a when all else fails thing I try to find family owned operated like charlie brewer slider co.

Also what’s with all the strange colors? And are the manufacturers spamming us on these specific rods like a crankbait rod a spinnerbait rod a worm rod, a top water rod, a swim bait rod, and fineness rod??? where’s My beatle spin rod? They think fishermen are gullible sheep hearders from the hills!

Everybody and their brother in law throws cranks so I prefer something different!
