  1. Sometimes you get the urge like that pencil poppers half way out of the water too I never backlashed since I don’t own a baitcaster
  2. Nice I tied jigs like that but with black and orange buck tail looks like a craw
  3. Good work how do you fish sliders? a white or pearl slider is tops for riprap i also like em in pad and grass lanes and docks sliders, grubs, & beetle spins were finesse before there was finesse
  4. Why has there never been a bass master classic on Toledo bend? i don’t ever remember one TB is a huge lake perfect for a classic They did lots of lousy locations like texoma not even really known as lmb lake
  5. What parts of Toledo did you fish most? lower third? middle third? upper third? what about 6 mile creek? back in the 60’s the fished original silver rapala’s and creme purple or purple white tail worms what lures and methods did you have the most success on
  6. Do you prefer a slow or fast retrieve? calm water or a heavy ripple? suspended bass over creek Chanel’s ive noticed in summer a overcast day or a heavy ripple on the water works best, winter calm bright sunny days work better both have bass feeding over the creek channels
  7. Any experiences waking a small swim bait in pads? or finesse techniques in grass and pads weed walls etc?
  8. Met Lonnie Stanley at the Dallas boat show one year, fished his jigs I fish some bass club tournaments but never really cared to be in competition I prefer relaxing fishing for fun, maybe I’m lazy idk
  9. Curly tail is like a mister twister straight worm with a curly tail ribbon worms or snake type have a long curly tail most of the worm curls after a couple inches of straight plastic the best was bill Norman’s snatrix can get them anymore fish 6 inch weightless on top around grass and pads, the bottom a snake and a frog is white, so I need solid white or pearl 3 & 4 inch black or purple ribbon tails fish just off the bottom slow constant retrieve another finesse method
  10. Im in north Texas but my brother in law lives Austin we go to Travis for Guadalupe bass
  11. Cool, but do they have white ones?
  12. Where can you get 3 or 4 inch ribbon tails Just checked out Keitech they look good don’t see any ribbon tails
  13. That’s a good one, I can’t find white ones, I like white for trailers and fishing grass or pad weightless and on riprap, rattlesnake lures was a good one but I can’t find them anymore, most of the big tackle dealers don’t have any under 7 & 1/2 inches
  14. One day fishing alone at fork I accidentally left my bait casting rods on the boat ramp and was home when I found out and could not go back for them, that was the end of standard tackle for me, from then on sissy fishing, small bass, spots, guads, and light line spinning rods and light wire hooks, pro’s would talk about a tough bite and going to a panic box, small lures that work when all else fails, so I logically said why not fish these all the time, so be it, never looked back! Never skunked again that’s for sure!
  15. 1/0 of s a good size I think some ds hooks are too small but I use small hooks on my twitch worms so who knows
  16. What lakes we have a few lakes but there all pretty small less than 12 inches
  17. Thanks I’m a line watcher i know that helps nothing big and brown in texas only lmb and spots
  18. Sweep set just lift up your rod keeping a tight line i dont see how you detect strikes on finesse without tight lining it down to the bottom
  19. Thank you sir, it’s a pleasure to talk with a ledgend i fish 3 and 4 inch ribbon tails as search baits on flats as a vertical bait on weeds walls and dock posts or trees fished just of the bottom with a slow steady retrieve they seem to catch bass when most presentations fail white 3 inch paralleling riprap
  20. My biggest fish from fork was a whopping 4 lbs and I had friends who owned land and a bass club too fished for years
  21. Thanks cant fish without grubs fat Albert are a fave
  22. So use it in open water or rocky areas without a lot of cover
