I have a Revo SX a friend gave to me. Free. I took it thinking I would use it until I bought a reel I liked. I’m still using it. It’s sitting on my Dobyns Sierra 734. It casts like a dream. Sometimes I send out such a good cast I have to look down at my hands to remind me which reel it was. I fussed a bit adjusting it but it wings out unwieldy things well. Really well. I took it and lubed it once. It’s fine. Not sure I’d ever consider buying one.

They all work in a kayak. You just have to pay attention to available space. I go one step further and make sure I have space to crawl back aboard should I fall off in deep water. It’s a real possibility. I’d hate to drown because all the crap I have strapped to my kayak prevented re-entry. sorry. But it needed mentioning

I have a bag of mostly senkos and stuff. Some packs are opened, some new. I’ll send it to a school team if needed. My local bass just don’t love some of the colors. Or I suck with them. Either way, confidence in a bait is paramount to me.

I looked. A 10x7 die-cut sticker is $200 plus for 50 stickers. I do have the graphic design friend to to the logo. that’s way more members than I want.

I want to start an unofficial fishing team. Hell, I might be the only member. But up to two other guys. So I would need six stickers max. Stickers for our kayaks. just for fun. Laughs. any ideas? Am I looking at big money??

just to note..I would never recommend someone I didn't utilize myself. no word of mouth stuff. "huh..I heard so and so is good".. I called Josh and he told gave me a fishing report first and told me how we would fish. I book right away and he did exactly what he said and found us fish. I am the happy dude on his webpage holding the 6 pounder!!

I am really torn. Tough week at work. Fish are biting at a lake down the street. Just yanking anything weightless and weedless down the grass alleyways is getting bit. It a 7 minute drive. Gate opens at 6:30. I have a fist full of Yamamoto shad shapes at the ready. I could get by with two rods. or. load up and go for a trek. Last time lake was gin clear. ***. Potential giants but I haven’t been there for months. It up in the mountains so I know their nights have been in the low 40’s. I bet the bass are transitioning to the next phase, whatever that is. I heard the grass is grown in. If I go, I’ll need to crack the code for sure. Oddly enough the gate opens at 8:00 am. Last risers! Very little to no fishing pressure since the lake is so difficult to reach. You need a high clearance vehicle. im laying on my couch, about to load my kayak into the truck. Hmmmmm. Maybe I flip a coin.

Around here. The answer will surprise you. a soft plastic lizard. Nobody fished a lizard anymore. I kill them on a green pumpkin 6” lizard.

Zero Doubt. Josh Adams. Get this! He is a teen! Josh got me my PB in November. His work ethics are sick. His boat and some of his gear is older tho. It all worked fine, but don’t expect to find a WOW factor. I didn’t care. He explained the game plan. The why and the where. He showed me on topo maps our strategy. My first cast was a flub. He runs his spools looser than my skill level could handle. And I backlashed badly. He didn’t miss a beat. Got me a new rod and untangled my mess. He didn’t tease me because my friend did. Haha. I had a great experience and the added bonus of seeing a young person working hard gave me hope for the future.

This is my first full year as a kayak basserman. My last skunk was January. As in the ENTIRE month of January. After that I’m pretty steady. Got my new PB this year and I tied my previous PB two or three times. Found new waters! Really good waters. (Maybe the Best part of this year) it ain’t over yet. These next few months it gets good around here. Hope to topple my PB yet again. Let’s do this!!

This is the theory I heard. lack of planted trout.

My dream trip is to float a live golden shiner under a balloon for big Florida bass.

I know a secret lake. Well it’s not that secret. It is a PIA to get to. Bad weather requires 4x4. Good weather requires good ground clearance. I usually caravan there with a friend. We each tote our own kayaks. I have a friend with too nice of a vehicle to go. he loves his truck and wipes it with a soft diaper when it gets dirty ( I joke). My rods ride inside after i absent mindedly let them ride in back once. They were so covered in fine dust. I had to rinse them in the lake. I am thinking of car pooling. Double stack the kayaks in my truck and the rods will have to ride in back. I think an inexpensive surf board bag might do the trick!! A longboard bag. Any other ideas? Something to hold 12 rods.

Not yet. Sunday the bass were ferocious. Not subtle at all. for the record, the Maxim is so super sensitive. I feel tiny tics. I sometime think I imagined it. I’ll let you know Saturday. Headed to the delta where things are varied.

hahaha.. I thought we were decent fishing friends. I ignored the fact that he loves trolling for everything. I mean everything. he will fish the shallows by brushing his kayak against the shoreline tules. haha..to each their own. I noticed I was always the one coming up with trips and inviting him. he declined 90% of the time recently. and when he does come up with at trip..I pencil it in, and never hear from him again. I give up. I LOVE fishing solo fine. find a good fishing partner, also a win. I spend a lot of time, gas, effort exploring new waters..I've become guarded with the information I have gathered. I dont tell anyone anymore. I might take someone, but I won't simply point it out on a map. my good friend left today for Minnesota. I guess I am feeling melancholy losing a good partner in fishing. oh well. we all know this person. the main goal: dont BE this person. carry on people.

haha.. I could have gone to the grave with the Kaden. but you never know. I love my Casting Sierra. love it. it has a GREAT handle.

The Kaden handle I could not warm up to. It has a bigger bulbous handle. My hand got tired and it just wasn’t that comfy. Not when I’m death gripping a big bass. I have smaller hands. Not childlike hands but you know… I loved the bait hook position. The first guide was giant. Slipping the rod into a sleeve was annoying. I love the smaller first guide found on Phenix rods. I would also rate the Kaden on the slow-side of the fast rating. I did catch my PB with the Kaden. It’s plenty strong. I may work it into the rotation to keep evaluating things. I don’t hate the thing. It’s light. Very light.

Your first kayak bass is 3x the size of my first kayak bass!! Nice!! I did fist pump the sky in jubilation like I landed my PB tho.

Keep the same budget and buy TWO $200 setups. Hell I bet you can buy three setups for the same budget.

I’m with this person. it’s peaceful for the most part. 90% peace and quiet with 10% adrenaline fueled fire drill of catching a bass. It’s addicting

I’ve done this. Pulled a hook out of my brother. And then a friend. might be difficult doing this to myself solo.
