  1. i have the FMJ, and oddly enough my Bantam rides on it. i wouldnt describe the FMJ as a lightweight rod. of my rods, it might be the portliest feeling. it feels front heavy. casting takes more effort. i remember putting my Zillion on it, but i cant remember my thoughts on it. i run 14lb flouro and it was comfortable. heck, my Bantam doesn't seem to hold any more line (that i know of). it took time to warm to my FMJ, but warm it got. 3/8 jig with a fat trailer..so much fun. my hooksets are youtube worthy!! and it flings and fishes a poop bait beautifully.
  2. I’m not sure it matters to me. I’ve been fishing them kinda like a jig lately. Just hopping it.
  3. super funny. nevertheless.
  4. i have a Powell Naked spinning rod. that thing was impossibly fast from the get-go. first rod i have purchased that i had trouble casting. accuracy was bad, distance was embarrasing. and my hooksets defied time and space. i think i set the hook milliseconds before a bass took hold. i have since recalibrated my cast to make it look good. i HATED it. the shop sold it to me claiming it was the best weightless senko rod. it is the worst weigtless senko. hahha... what it is magical with is the small megabass popper. rod stays home most days. if i get another spinning, i might give it to one of you people in a give-away.
  5. i like how i am slow. and i like how big moves cost me time. forces me to slow down and work the problem, relatively close to where i launched. too easy to pull up the trolling motor and race off to greener pastures.
  6. i think for me..my lesson learned is. do my own thing. i spend $$ following various advice. some worked out, some, not so much. in the end, i am where i am and i am happy. but i seem to gravitate towards my own choices. my best $10 spent (for me) is a donkey-leash. what a game changer.
  7. dang...i admit. you got me.!!!
  8. wait..that is a guy?!
  9. ....and i am not confident enough to pull off that shirt.
  10. i tried to have a fishing tournemant with my buds using only zebco 33 or 303. i got unanimous "NOPE!"
  11. i 100% t-rig. 1/0 owner cover shot, and 3/16 sinker.
  12. i dont know enough about fish to guess...but you really should get that mole on your ear sussed by a dermatologist.
  13. So fun! Bucket list for sure.
  14. Does he speak in a calm and soothing voice? Haha.
  15. My truck is the long cast. I feel it keeps me and my kayak off their radar. when casting to shore I post up further than usual. My fave lakes tend to be clear water.
  16. Spurs were 1” +. I fell down a hillside (while carrying the bird) and a spur got me good.
  17. you Goretex people. I used to know a person that worked for Goretex. I actually have a sheet of the stuff 20x20 sheet of it in my garage somewhere. he said Goretex garments need to be periodically washed. when it gets dirty, the filth wicks the moisture thru. I had a 30 year old jacket I gave to a homeless dude that stayed waterproof the entire time. pretty sure it isn't anymore..but it was bombproof. so out of style, and quite ugly.. and it didnt fit me anymore. I washed it with my car washing drying towels all the time.
  18. WOW!! fell asleep at 7pm. woke up at 6:30am!!! I was out!!! strapped on jogging shoes and totally suffered out 3 miles..bleeck... but I am back!!! darn rain ruining tomorrows fishing. boooo...!!!
  19. I’ll just leave this here.
  20. grrr...1:00 am departure for turkey. wish I was fishing so I could stay asleep.
  21. the boys are getting posted up to accept the ladies. ladies still deep, behind them. cast further? deeper? bigger bait offerings.
  22. in my circle of buds. the leadhead with a swimbait bait/fluke is the undisputed hybrid catcher. those guys get in the water with waders and get into turbulent water being whipped (by wind) up into waves. they cast into the wind, targeting the dirty water. they kill the hybrids. having said that, they feel distance is king. they use fast action 7' spinning rods. the wind backlash is for real. but, I bet your smallie rig is perfectly fine. my friends are not gear heads. they just fish. heck, I just taught a few of them to cast bait casters. grown humans too!
  23. dang. there is the other contender. so $$$. all of them.
