  1. I use 20lb power pro on my spinning gear with about 3ft of fluoro leader tied up with a uni to uni. I have tired different knots and found the uni -uni to be the strongest as long as it is tied correctly. I use it for bass and saltwater it works great!

Mann's Spittin Shad! I followed G3's link and found it on the next page. It looks just like your drawing to me. http://www.mannsbait.com/images/products/spittinshad-big.jpg
  3. There are not enough calm days here to watch for line movement so I depend on feeling the bite. Hold the line and raise your tip slowly to feel for the fish. Most times if you have a finger on the line you can feel the bite even with slack. I like to hold my rod a little farther forward than Airbone's picture right on the cork grip. The reason for that is sometimes when setting the hook on a good fish the rod will try to jump out of your hand!
  4. It all just depends on what you are used to I guess. Here in Florida they are everywhere I fish and swim, you just got to use common sense. Here are a few pics of some the small one on the log is from Lake Seminole(that place is full of them and big ones too). The second pic is one a good friend caught with the rod he is holding it measured 12'4" long.
  5. I am in college and all i own for reels are 5500 abu's, they are hard to beat for the money and the durability, I take them saltwater fishing all the time, and have caught 40lb jack cravalle's on my bass rods. I have 4 rod n reel combos the most expensive one being $100 bucks. I will not pay over $50 for a rod or reel, and i can't see why some of these new shimano's, quantum's, abu's, etc. cost so d**n much! All you need is good line and a decent drag, thats all. I don't think you catch more fish with more expensive stuff, I think that by the time you get to where you can and will pay for a $250 rod and a $250 reel you already have enough experience fishing that you could catch fish on just about anything.
  6. Well i made it to the tackle shop today and went ahead and bought a new worm gear and pawl. I've kept this reel clean, and I put 1 drop of oil on the worm gear before every fishing trip. I did order 1 of the ceramic pawls just to try out. I have 2 newer garcia round reels and have replaced the worm gears and pawls in both of them. My dad has a few 6500's from the 80's and laughs saying he has never had to replace his! Thanks guys!
  7. The pawl in my ambassadeur has worn out and started stacking line, i found some on ebay and came across a ceramic pawl? Has anyone tried them out? What do you think about them? I would love to be able to put one in there and have it last more than a year!
  8. Hello Everyone, I recently stumbled across this forum and had to join, it is a mecca of information! Great Site! How many of you catch your fish in the Southeast? I'm about as far Southwest Florida as you can get. The closest river to me goes by the name of Blackwater, and it does not have that great of a reputation for bass fishing, but most people dont know where to find them! Here is a 4.5lber i caught a few days ago right before a front came through!
