  1. I love that blank and have 4 rods on it and a 5th I extended to 6'8". My son started to outcast me so I extended one and put a 1000 size reel on it with 4lb mono. The others all have 500 and 750 sized reels. They are amazing little blanks. I've used other higher end blanks and they just don't cast as well.
  2. Update. Out of nowhere the replacement showed up today. Looks good enough to build on but honestly if it was another company I'd consider sending this one back. It's pretty crooked, in two areas. Splined it and I flexed the crap out of it and it feels fine. I'm putting this one together. Got an SCV blank in the mail as well. Ordered it last Friday. That one is a 7'ml fast. Nice little blank and it looks nice and straight.
  3. Still no blank. This is the last time I will deal with NFC. I emailed a couple times asking for a different/similar blank, just give me something you stock....nothing. I was told a month ago that my order was in processing for the replacement blank. No wonder so many companies use blanks made in China.
  4. update as of 2-15 I got an email. No eta. None in stock. Waiting for a few poor suckers to order the sb724 before I get one. I understand that they build when so many get ordered. Thing is I offered to take another blank if I could get one sooner.
  5. 2 spinning and 2 baitcasting rods. What are you building and why?
  6. Just finished a 6'8" rod geeks c3 mxf jerkbait rod paired with a lews custom lite. Total build is 8-5/8" ounces!
  7. I get all of that but 5 of the same email to different people at edge/nfc for the warranty claim. Then 3 days later a email stating I am getting a new blank and then no eta, nothing. I've messaged 3 times. They could tell me a month or June. I really don't care. I just want to know. I also offered to take a different blank or a refund. It isn't about the product, it's about customer service. I've had other blanks fail that are way harder to get my hands on IE point blank. There service was good enough that I purchased more of them. NFC MSRP is a joke. Just name a realistic price and be done with all the non-sense BS sales and promo codes. How much does it costs them to run these sales every 3rd week with a different name? Maybe use that person that clicks the computer to answer a few emails and set your pricing accordingly.
  8. Thank you. I figured after I asked about getting a replacement that wasn't my exact order just something in stock and never heard back maybe something else was going on. We should start a pole to see when everyone thinks my replacement will come! This will be my last order. I like the idea of having the customer order the blank themselves.
  9. Ordered 3 blanks on black friday sale, week or two before. Got them 1st week or so of January. Had a blank break upon inspection/load testing. After sending the same email to 5 different people (guess they don't forward emails there?) I get a response 3 days later that they are sending a replacement. I asked when....no answer. I asked again Monday....no answer. Send an email today.......crickets? What is wrong with this place? I've ordered two times and both times had quality issues. At least the first time they sent me a rod right away. I even told them I'd take a different in stock rod if this isn't available.....no answer? Guess they don't want me to use there products anymore?
  10. Anyone use these blanks? I see anglers workshop has them. I did built a couple spinning rods from there mb series and liked them. Very light weight and sensitive. Rating wise I feel they can handle more than rated though. I have a sj here I'd like to build.
  11. A guy I work with has had a few Daiwa rods with those guides. Every rod has had a guide issue. NFC ones look similar/same. No thanks as of now.
  12. tape should work and if you epoxy over it all it'll be waterproof.
  13. yes power wise. As we know the 7' ml if more of a medium rod with the ccs data but does seem to cast 1/8 ounce well. The 7' light feels almost the same in hand and while fishing. Love them both.
  14. We have now Point blanks in 6'6 light, 7' light, 7' medium light. They are all awesome. All built as spinning rods with KLH guides. There is a noticeable difference in the 6'6 light to the 7' ml but the 7' light is just a touch under the 7' ml. They all have there place. The 6'6 is my favorite spinning rod right now.
  15. I've been building for about 10 years. I've used blanks from St. Croix, Northfork (Gary Loomis), Phenix, MHX, Batson and Point blank...to name a few. For anything with bottom contact nothing is even comparable to my points. My son who was 11 at the time couldn't believe how much better it was than his Northfork X-ray. Fishing same line, same jigs, same weight, etc. We now have 4 point blanks....all setup for finesse spinning. MickD sent me down this worm hole!!!!
  16. Currently I am in love with my 6'6" light power point blank. Setup in a spinning configuration paired with a 2000 tatula reel. Super sensitive and light.
  17. I hear so much about NRX rods. Never fished one. I have built on a few Northfork blanks and even a couple xray blanks. Honestly none of them feel as good as my point blanks. I find the jump from say a $80 blank to a $150 blank is usually small...then I fished the point. Feels different, casts different. I'd love to try one of these $550 nrx rods.
  18. I'm in Wisconsin so people around here think St. Croix is king. They are descent blanks. I've built on 5-6 this year alone. That being said the straightest blank I've had yet was a Bass 2. I personally couldn't tell much difference fishing a c4 and a c2. I was somewhat disappointed. Both built with the exact same components. I've enjoyed the actions on the bass 3 series for spinning stuff.
  19. I finally pulled the trigger on a point blank about a month ago. I've fished it a couple times now. My build is a 7' mlf set up as a spinning rod. Split grip carbon fiber with an amtak comfort swell seat with uni-lock hood. Rod built is about 3.5 ounces built. I paired it with a Garcia Zenon mgx that weights 5.5 ounces. So super light combo. I used it for jigging 1/4 to 1/2 ounce, casting a small split shot with shiner minnow for bass, and tossing small jerkbaits. This rod is absolutely amazing. I've used nothing else like it. A couple times I thought I had a bite and it was just my 3" shiner minnow wagging his tail....this is in fairly heavy current. Spot lock held on speed 3 on the 24v terrrova. Mick D suggested this blank numerous times. We have used a number of "good" blanks from NFC, St. Croix, Batson, MHX pro. Honestly, they just don't compare. At this point I plan on doing a few more and selling some of my other rods. The way this thing casts is incredible. I thought maybe it was this overpriced reel but it's not. (the zenon is nice, but not worth the $$$ IMO) So now I have to build a 6'6 light and I'd like the 6'9mlxf and then a 7' medium.
  20. Just looked at it. It is going well! No lifting at all. This is the spray I used got it at walmart. Aleene's Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer in gloss. This was much easier than nail polishing or double epoxy coats.
  21. I"m trying something new currently. Spray acrylic clear gloss. Dries in like 10 minutes, then decal, clear over the top, wait another 10 minutes and then coat over them with epoxy. It's drying right now. I got the advise from decal connection so I assume it should work! So far I see no lifting. Should be ok
  22. So I have tried various methods and just wonder what works best for you. The epoxy, dry, decal on, epoxy over seems to look the best but also takes some time. Wondering if there is a quicker way or faster setup epoxy. I like to do the guides and decals at the same time and hate doing epoxy coats more than twice. Somebody has had to play around with using a one part a quick dry or something else, right?
  23. They are, Point blank that is. Just seeing what guys are using. With there ccs data I am wondering if they will actually cast a 3/8 three treple jerkbait well???
  24. Fishing from a lund 1875 impact. Usually casting to my left side, side arm casting to the bank. My medium moderate Fenwick cast nice but doesn't work a jerkbait well at all. I want something 6'6-7' for sure. I'm open to ideas. Blank costs isn't a big deal other than not dealing with NFC. Phenix has a bass recon blank in ML fast which could possibly work. PHXC683MLB Can't find any real data anywhere on this thing. Point blank 7'light or 7'ml is an option too? Or building on a spinning blank like the revelation 6'8" mxf or another 6'10 rx6 in m/xf???
