  1. That H/EF is enacting a gravitational pull on my wallet in anticipation.
  2. I have a H/F rod set up for braid and another one for FC. I can see the bite often using braid to leader most of the time, but with quality FC, I can feel any bite. Basically, I use the braid when fishing the junk, the the FC for open waters. Going to something like a wacky rigged senko on a M/F. I so far prefer hi-viz braid to FC and seeing the bite on slack line. With a straight hi-quality FC rig on a good rod, I can feel the bite when slack (and bluegills nipping at it). Unfortunately, I can't usually tell how much FC line I have out. I have a new hi-speed reel this year, and I plan to try it out on this.
  3. One thing that I can't stand is if the leader knot catches weeds and then the presentation has a little ewok infront of it.
  4. Any experience with Savage Gear fishing rods out there?
  5. It was an honor to serve. H/EF? That's very interesting as well. The 7'4" has traditionally been Croix's frog/swimjig rod which i use primarily for swimjigs and swing-jigs. The 7'1" MH/EF in the Legend X series to me is a definite "must have" rod. If Croix made a H/EF with the same properties as those of the MH/EF it would be an incredible dock skipping rod. Have to see what Croix presents.
  6. That is a very interesting rod indeed, once you get past the name. It sounds alot like a 735 frog rod, which never leaves my boat. If they made a rod like that with improved sensitivity, I would buy it.
  7. St Croix Legend Glass H/M "Rip n Chatter." I use it for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, oversized crankbaits, ripping Rapala Rip'n Raps, and deep cranks.
  8. As a retired veteran, I'm liking the new model names. Hopefully, St. Croix adds a good bit of the expected color scheme. I just bought another company's rod based off a review and their O.D. Green Color scheme. It reminded me of the old jeeps, But I'm still a huge St. Croix fan at heart.
  9. Usually I just use a straight line combination. Bit, on my leader rigged rods for close work, I'll use braid to 7 to 13ft leader. I just keep the knot out of the reel. Never did make sense to me to use a leader/braid combination on a horizontal presentation where one uses the FC to keep the fish from seeing the line. Didn't you just run a bunch of braid just past them before the FC got there?
  10. I'm guessing the Linder family teaser trailer is the newest news available? While I like Al and company, I really wish they'd get to the big reveal.
  11. I bought a Revenge. It earned its own designated rig and I've picked up many spares. It has yet to let me down.
  12. d**n, and here I was hoping they'd call it something catchy like "Negasonic Nuclear Tachion-Pulse Phaser Annihilation Super Aircraft Lazer."
  13. If I'm fishing a 7in ribbontail t-rigged with a light weight swimming it, which I often do, I'll add a swivel to cut down line twist on spinning gear. You can see the worm twisting and the hook spinning as you reel twisting the line if you don't. I'll also use a lighty weighted hook sometimes since it will act like a keel and keep the lure from spinning. Some like VMC weighted swimbait hooks.
  14. I fell across a spool from another reel, and right now they look super similar. I just want to know if they have similar throat and cylinder length.
  15. I don't have the Curados but I mostly rod pull T-rigs with hi-viz braid to leader keeping a bow in the line. The hi-viz will visually inform you of the bite. Here, just about any MH/F will work. BUT... I'm a Croix fan, and If I want to feel and maintain bottom contact I go straight for the Legend X 7'1" MH/EF Finesse Swim Jig rod 1/4-3/4oz. Buy one of these and you'll never look at your LTB's the same.
  16. Does anyone have the spool dimensions for the 2020 Metanium? I know that it's a 34x19mm. I know 34 is the diameter. Is the 19mm throat opening or the overall cylinder length?
  17. "Don't stop... believing... hold on to that feeling..." Which would be a great motto for a fishing rod named Journey.
  18. #1 Kalin's just about any color. Thinnest tails out there. #2 Yamamoto I've had success with Berkley's and Rage tail grubs but nothing near to those two.
  19. The goofy thing is, the common carp was brought over and introduced into the waters in the early 1800's as a food source way long before the Asian species. Because of its bone structure, the fish is usually cooked whole, like trout, and eaten in a similar manner. I've never tried it. If there was someone around who knew how to make it correctly, I'd give it a shot.
  20. I'm not wealthy yet either. I do remember dad using a fish finder. Dad would pay the fish finder $2, the fish finder would put his head under water wearing goggles, and occasionally he'd yell out, "There's a fish over there!" Okay okay okay... forgive the weak joke. The point is that technology and evolving technology is constantly changing how we fish. People are paying out the nose for the latest and greatest (often not as great as the advertising would have you believe) rods, reels, lures, and more. Even PC/phone skills are playing a roll in the sport for the tournament angler as well as the weekend anglers. I personally wouldn't buy the spreadsheet referenced having now seen the video. There really wasn't any "surprising" conclusions, and I have enough experience to be confident in what to use on different bodies of water. For the new angler, it could be a fast track plus. I don't find that to always be a good thing.
  21. Alot of their rods say that. I wondered if it might be due to it being their "shipping season" to their retailers.
  22. Does anyone have experience with the SG Bsttletek rods, specifically the crankbait rods. I've read the review from Wired to Fish, but I like input from more than just one source. Thanks.
