  1. I drove by the hudson on my way home today and I saw the water flow for first time in 2 months! Maybe wednesday I will try and toss some out there and catch fish.
  2. That is nice! I know the feeling. Ive had my kayak I got in January still in the plastic here. I am probably going to take it to Round Lake or Ballston lake for its first voyage when ice is gone and we get a warm days.

Got my biggest fish ever on Heddon with prop
  4. I got most of my fish on a Vibrax blue fox thing. It was the small silver one. I would probably choose that. I got some 3 pound SM and a bunch of other fish on it. I did lose like 3 though fishing from shore.
  5. I cant find much on this. When I was a kid my dad and grandfather used to take me there all the time. But I read online that fishing is not allowed anymore starting 2002 or so I have not been there since the 90s. I see one article saying in 2018 they were working on letting fishing there again but I can not find a thing more about it. Anyone know if we can fish it? I am not great at using google so maybe I am searching wrong.
  6. Made a super Ned with my new glow recipe. I now make my glow paint with the watch lume powder mixed with JB ClearWeld. I dont know how it will hold up fishing but it seems like its strong. I tested it on a sinker and threw it on the sidewalk and it stayed on the sinker. I do it by painting the jig head white because white behind the lume makes it brighter. Then I mix up the glow powder with the JB weld and coat it on with a toothpick. Then you have to hold it and orient it around until 5 minutes when its dry enough not to run. I also stuck a coffee bean in the tail of the Ned worm. Did a chatter as well. Wish I could try these out already!
  7. Thanks. I am dying to throw these. Winter is driving me nuts but I am going to have a ton of stuff to try out by time the water ice melts.
  8. It was crazy and my first real big fish. I got it on a zebco 33 with stock line. I tossed it out as far as I could by where I saw one jump. Soon as it hit the water he exploded on it. I mean the very instant the lure hit he bit on it. I never caught a fish that fought enough for a "fight" and took that long to land. It was in September around 430pm and I happened to notice fish jumping on my way back to the car. Here is another picture on my talkbox.
  9. Looking through my pictures from this past year this is the biggest fish I got. I caught it before I had a measure and a scale though. The lure is a Heddon Baby Torpedo. Anyone can tell me how big this fish is? I caught a smaller one when I had my measure and scale and he was 18 inch and 3.14 pounds.
  10. Tomhannock Reservoir is where I go the most. Its 15 minutes away at daybreak and about 30 minutes to 45 minutes in traffic. But being in Albany NY I have almost unlimited places with in an hour drive from my house. If I want to go an hour or 2 on the northway I have my choice of 100s of places more wild to fish.
  11. Went back today and got a silent 5, rattle 3 and 7 and also a nice looking arashi spinbait. 20 bucks for all 4 is not bad.
  12. I might try and go back and get a few more. Maybe a 7 and 3 feet one and another 5 in another color. We getting crazy ice storm tonight so might not get there till Wednesday. Hope they have them left but I dont worry too much they had like 100 of them.
  13. I stopped by Field and Stream/Dicks today and see they were clearance these out for 4.50. I got one in a red craw color. Seems like high quality lure. They also had the 03 and 07 ones too in many colors. A whole bin of them. If anyone here uses them let me know if they are good I will go get some more. Seems to be over 10 dollars online if I knew that I would have grabbed another one but I had no idea what they normally go for.
  14. I found this over the summer fishing the hudson from shore. I snagged a long line and this was at the end of it. Threw it in my glovebox and found it again today. Its some weights on a long U shaped stiff wire with either glass or plastic beads. The large weight is about 3/4 inch long and looks to be brass. I guess the hooks rusted off it. was pretty dirty but I cleaned it up with brillo. I didnt see anything like it at walmart. What is this called?
  15. Put some eyes on them with sharpie marker.
  16. Winter boredom has me thinking of making some lures. I got the feather idea and used jigs I had laying around and came up with these. Feathers are from hobby lobby and seem to hold up good to water in testing in the sink but I dont know what they are made of. They were 99 cents for each color on the end of a stick in the artificial flower section of the store. Do they look like they will catch fish? I tied them with some thin ire from the same store and epoxied over the wire.
  17. Its is Rustoleum gloss clear color paint from the can. I do 3-4 coats while letting it dry between and I will see how it holds up when I use the lures.
  18. I got the glowing perfectly now. I did a KVD 1.5 too. One glittered cheap one as well. This is addicting and fun way to pass the days until fishing.
  19. This is a good idea and what I will be using it for. A kind of overflow box where I put new stuff I wont use right away or extras. Here it is clean up. Came out pretty good I think. It was disgusting really. Here are the vintage stuff that was in it. My old Banjo Minnows that I begged for when I was a kid because they worked so good in the commercials. I never once got a fish on them though. Those are at least 20-25 years old.
  20. Here is one that came out better. I left the paint jo alone this time because these colors work good around here anyway.
  21. WHen I was a kid I always did it. Or at least if the water was not over my head. I really wanted to this past year when I got my umbrella rig all set up and because I was stupid I put it on my Zebco 33 with the 10 pound mono and FIRST cast I slung it out and the line snapped in my reel and the umbrella rig flew a mile out in the deepest part of the lake. I spent like 25-30 buck on it and never even got to try it.
  22. This is the first one I did. I was not going to show it because it came out terrible. I tested an idea to make a lure with glowing wrist watch lume on it somehow. I filed cuts into the side of the lure and filled it with lume then cleared over it. Also put glitter o the under side. Came out terrible because I didnt know how much to paint it with the white and I put it on too thick and took forever to dry but was not really dry because when I started handling it I left finger prints. Just a mess but I think the lume idea worked good and I will try another and take my time and do thin coats of paint.
  23. Just picked up a bunch of these at Walmart on sale for 2.00 each. Got doubles of some to try and customize for something to do while I wait for the water to melt in the lakes. I put glitter on it then used clear to seal it. Think it will work? its very sparkling. I am working on another one too and will show it when im done.
  24. I found this when the water was low late last year. Never tried it yet but it was crusty before I cleaned it up last week. I will throw it this spring.
