  1. I have a SOT kayak and will be trying it for the first time soon. What do I do with the scupper holes do I need to buy plugs for them? Can I use the kayak with the holes all open and not sink from water coming inside?
  2. Classic blue fox vibrax caught me every kind of fish just about. The small one like 4 bucks at walmart. All through summer and fall never tried in spring.
  3. I put the bait caster on my Zebco 33 rod and its perfect. Went fishing today and not one backlash. I also took the advice and put electric tape then mono backing and electic tape then the 20 pound braid. The spool looks much better now this way too.
  4. I got some cheap ones on ebay and they turned out to be brass or something under the paint. I got some middle priced ones that I think are actually tungsten. Just avoid the crazy cheap ones. Both were from china on Ebay. Bullet weights.
  5. In a cold slow flowing large river will the Senko catch fish better than the Ned?
  6. This is the first time I will be fishing spawn time ever so this topic interests me. Is pre spawn before or after the fish spawn? When will they spawn in a place like upstate NY? Would these jig tactics be good for upstate NY same an NJ?
  7. NICE! Where in ny?
  8. I fish a reservoir that says it is famous for walleyes but I have never catched even one from there. I bought a lure I found called Walleye Wonder to see if I can catch some this year. My question is are you supposed to run a trailer on this lure? Also if so what would be a good trailer to use?
  9. I didnt even notice the stats on the rods. My rod says 6-10 pounds line and im using 20 pounds spider wire braid line on mine. I checked the rods at walmart but the only ones rated for 20 pounds line is long one piece rods. I need 2 piece rod because it had to fit in my car. I see now you guys say mono is better line but I would hate to have to change out the line again for the 4th time. I just spooled it with the electic tape for most then the braid over it like stated here. Anyone know a good rod for 20 pound line that is 2 peice and not a lot of money? I think if I spent over 40-50 dollars my wife would kill me
  10. Thanks I will look into that. I did send 2 5 dollar crank baits and my favorite chatter bait to the river lost today trying to practice. and wasted 15 dollars of line. Until I went back to my old spin cast reel which I can use without problems and cast farther.
  11. I got a Apu Garcia pro max reel last year. My first bait cast reel. I practiced for a few hours and seemed to get used to it and can cast very well if I dont try too far. Now if I try to swing hard for a far cast sometimes my bait breaks off and I get a birds nest so bad I have to cut the line. I THINK its my rod is buggy whipping and somehow breaking my line. I have a 6 feet 6 medium rod. What is a type that is better for this?
  12. Thats amazing look great. Kind of like the solid color that it came out.
  13. I have a spot where I catch nice bass actually my biggest bass ever (4-5 pound SM) and I often see the otter there swimming. Its a 5 mile long reservoir though so pretty big place but I see not otters elsewhere on the water.
  14. I saw a topic here that gave me the idea of making jigs from these. I added the spinning leaf to the under of the jjig by drilling a small hole and jamming it in with Epoxy. Also epoxy the line tie area to cover potential sharp edges. I dont think they will last too long and if a fish bites it may lose the spinner leaf part but for 1 dollar I take a chance. Worst can happen they break and become regular jig heads.
  15. Im looking at the roll now and it says 2014 on it! Maybe old stock and they not making it now.
  16. OH my mistake it is 700 yards not 7000! So basically its pretty crappy from comments here. I will give it a try a few times anyway. I will end up using it as backing as recommended here. Thank!
  17. How is this line? I got a roll of 7000 yards for only a few dollars at walmart and spooled it on my spinning reel for fishing. Will it handle bass and crappies and stuff like that ok? Just maybe fishing with Ned or Senko.
  18. My forecast looks the same here in Albany NY. Cant wait to see the small lake I go by everyday to be unfroze. The hudson already is open water and I threw a few casts in it but I am really waiting for the lakes/ponds to get the new kayak out! I figure by the 16th-17th the ice will be mostly gone in the lower elevations.
  19. Anything where they are just looking at a TV screen and dropping down to the fish they see on the screen is pretty boring. I get they need to do it to put food on the table but it does make for dull shows. I would love a tournament with all those MLF pros where all electrics was banned from use. I would watch that all day long. As someone without electrics I would like to see how to catch fish and know where they is without the electrics.
  20. When I go to get my new glasses I will ask them if I can get ones that come with the clip on polarized glasses. That sounds like the best option for me and most reasonable price.
  21. Thanks everyone. Looks like they are not what I thought they were. I never used sun glasses. Anyone know of a good pair that can fit over my regular glasses that is not too much money? I have an eye doctor appointment in a couple weeks and thinking about getting the glasses that automatically turn to sun glasses by themselves. Are they polarized too?
  22. I been watching fishing on TV a lot over the winter and always see them saying that they are glad they had those sun glasses because they can see under the water for trees, rocks etc. I dont know to believe it because they usually are trying to sell the items they show. I would be interested because I fish on the Hudson river from shore and cant see good. See attached picture please. I would like to know in that situation would I be able to see far under the water?
  23. Never fished a rubber worm in my life. Over the winter I got a few bags of YUM Dinger and some Senkos. Honestly can not wait to try to use them.
  24. My Dicks/Field and Stream is like the one shown in the OP. Just fishing poles are not above like that. Massive amount of fishing stuff and constantly updated with new stuff. This is in Latham/Albany NY.
  25. I dont understand how USPS could be "operating in the red". Literally any business should be making MORE money today because the fact that everyone buys online now so shouldn't more business mean more profits for the USPS? Like 20 years ago I could understand them going under but NOW they gotta be moving more packages than they ever did so should be making more cash. They have to be managed by complete idiots to lose money despite MORE business than ever.
