PA Trout Season
I'm glad that in my area we didn't get the crazy rain. We have fair water and should be able to get into some good sightfishing on some big stupid stocker trout.

Almost lost my combo
Unfortunately, yes. I remember that day like it was yesterday lol. I was fishing a friend of my mom's pond. This pond has some monster carp (reaching 30#) and so I decided yup I wanna catch one. I chummed the area real nice with the ol classic, corn, and casted a rod out. Eventually, my 12 year old self got bored of waiting for the big bite and decided I'd go fiddle around with the bass and big gills that were up in the shallows. I'd been bass fishing for like 10 minutes when all I hear is the sound of water so I whip around and watch this catfish spinning setup ski 10 feet across the top of this pond until it submerged. Typing this out made me realize that one of my missions for this year may have to be landing a big ol freshwater bonefish... More recently, I watched my buddy go to cast his casting setup and throw the rod into the air and barely catch it before it went into the drink? Not so recently, I watched that same friend go neck deep to get a rod back after a musky had grabbed his deadbait and ripped the rod in and he then proceeded to catch the fish

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
I haven't tried jointed glides, I really should but there's so little info on those sort of baits for muskies/tigers so I don't want to end up buying baits that aren't effective, ya know what I mean? Suicks are too much screwing around in terms of tuning, that's why I dislike them. I'm sure there are good ones out there but every one of them I've bought have a crappy action and no wobble on the rise. I have had one DnR bait that I do like though, the riverhawk from Steve Bates.

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
Are they sensitive?

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
Do you snap jig in the rivers or just stick to the whole swimbait and curly tail thing for jigs?

Favorite shimano baitcaster?
Scorpion mgl, superior to the curados imo

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
Will do, any reel suggestions? Also, I'm assuming 12lb braid with a fluoro leader would be the preferred since I'll be targeting smallmouth and 'eyes. Also, with a name like Walleyecrazy, I figure you'd be a good person for me to ask: Any tips for shallow river walleye fishing?

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
I'll definitely give it a look, I don't use anything super small. the smallest I really use is like a 1/8th oz finesse jig.

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
I fish a *typically* shallow (3-5'), small river and it is predominantly gravel bottom.

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
I prefer cork or composite/rubber type grips. I have a weird thing against EVA.

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
200 really isn't the top end, I'd probably max out at 300-350 for rod and the same amount for reel. However, I wanna keep it at a somewhat budget cause I musky fish the large majority of the time.

Eventually I wanna pick up a BFS setup but that's a real money pit so not anytime soon lol

"high end" spinning rod for river smallmouth... and walleye?
Anyone have any suggestions for a general purpose spinning rod for river smallmouth and river walleye? I fish a lot with ned rigs and the finesse style jigs plus small rapalas, just run of the mill stuff. In terms of fishing for walleye I'd like to try the traditional thing and cast cast jigs and plastics, so if anyone has tips for that I'd love to hear them cause I have no experience. I fish from the bank, by the way. The majorcraft corzza spinning (czs-69ML model) and diawa tatula spinning (6'10 Medium model) are two rods that particularly caught my eye. I don't really want to spend over 200 rod wise.

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
Looks interesting, surf plug?

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
I would more than likely get rid of the center hook, makes unhooking from the boney yap of a musky/pickerel easier for me

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
Not a fan of hellhounds, I do like other glidebaits though. I fish for tigers and they prefer smaller baits as a general thing.

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
Are they suspending or a slow float? Well, I use bass jerks for musky, just upsized hooks and everything. Tried them once, happened to somehow snag it lol. I'm gonna pick another one up, for sure.

Where do you find the fangbaits? All I can find is the TW store with two colors, the lemonhead is alright but I'd rather have other colors haha Edit- not really a fan of actual musky jerkbaits. Hate suicks with a passion but I am a fan of glidebaits as a broad category. Mostly 4-6" glides are what I throw.

Oversize jerkbaits (4 3/4"+)
I'm looking for reccomendations for bigger jerkbaits, I'm a big fan of like the xrap 12 (4.75") and the smithwick super rogue (5") but I'm looking for a bait with semi-beefy hooks but still suspending with a good lunge on the pull. Any ideas?

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
Do you feel that the inline singles lessen your hook up percentage at all?

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
Yup, I was the kid from PA receiving the stuff. Excited to use it this year and hopefully coax some bigger tigers with it!

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
I think I may be able to get away with heavier hardware than you because I'll be using two hooks rather than three. I hate middle hooks on jerkbaits cause they usually end up all tangled in the mesh of my musky net.

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
I recently got a fly setup, a reddington predator 11wt and a fair amount of flies.

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
might have to pick up some kvd 300s in the sugar daddy, carolina chrome, and pro morning dawn colorways. Things look good! do they have the good lunging type action like the high dollar jerkbaits? Also, what hooks and rings do you use to be able to handle that caliber of a musky?

Jerkbaits... for toothy fish?
I remember seeing pictures of you holding tigers when I first started fishing for them and googled and read everything I could find on the subject haha. When you fish em, what do you usually use?
