Finesse Jig Rod
@Darth-Baiter @Gera @badfish79 @Maverick2017 @Texas Flood @Brian11719 @WRB Thank you for the recent suggestions and information. I feel like I have a ton of research ahead of me. I won't rush into the purchase. I want to make sure I get the best option for me. I'm starting to lean more toward going with a Medium+, although the thought of having the Dobyns action with increased sensitivity from the higher-end models is appealing. It may come down to making a list of which rods would fit the bill and then paying attention to the ones that go on sale.

Finesse Jig Rod
I will look into this. Thank you! Do you use braid to leader on the DX744 or straight fluorocarbon? I will be using straight fluorocarbon and have some concerns with the sensitivity of the Dobyns brand, both from the comments above and my own experience with the Fury line. Do you think this one would handle the 1/2oz jigs + trailer? The action looks Fast, at least from the video I saw. One of my main concerns is having some "give" within the rod. I don't want that tiny hook popping out.

Finesse Jig Rod
Thank you! I've never owned a 2pc rod. I will look into this one. Thank you! I've heard about this brand before concerning finesse jigs. I will look into this one. The Dobyns' taper is definitely slower. I own the Fury 733 and 734, but I only use them for moving baits, as the sensitivity is not that great with straight fluorocarbon. I'd expect the Champion line to have much better sensitivity though. Dobyns does seem like a good direction to go. I can probably find a dealer close to me and check them out before ordering online. I love my Fury rods. I just hope the sensitivity on the Champion Series matches that of other high-end rods. I know the taper would be great.

Finesse Jig Rod
I'm looking for a technique specific rod specifically to throw the Keitech Tungsten Football Jig Model 2 Version 2 jig in 1/2oz. This Finesse Jig has a tiny hook, so I'm not looking for the typical MH/H Fast action rod that you need to set a big jig hook. I'm looking for something in the 7-4+ range that will have a softer tip, but not sacrifice sensitivity. I'd like to keep it to around $300 if possible, but open to suggestions that go over that range as well. Am I setting the hook wrong?
@Ryan N you got turtles where you fish?

Am I setting the hook wrong?
Agree. 3/0 EWG makes me think Texas Rig.

Am I setting the hook wrong?
This is what I do (ignoring heavy cover): Have your drag on the tight side, but not locked down. Rod tip high with controlled slack. You want to be able to feel the lure/bite without affecting the movement of the lure. When you detect a bite, reel down. You want to feel the weight of the fish before you set. You don't need to set like you're Greg Hackney in his 20s. Reel down and pull. I can remember one time in 4 years of fishing that I had to set without reeling down. This was because the bass were spitting the senko incredibly quick. I use a Palomar knot for everything.

Northern vs Southern Resevoirs CA
I watch Greg Blanchard's channel and he typically does well in the Northern CA reservoirs from a kayak. When I read about the Southern CA reservoirs (around Los Angeles), all I read about is how the fishing is tough. Is there a significant difference between the lakes in the North of the state and the South (assuming the skill level of the angler is the same)? Are there any geographic or other differences that are critical to an angler's success in the South that would be different from the North?

Could someone fill me in on what the Bass fishing is like in and around this area? I know that Castaic and Casitas are close, but are there other lakes that I could kayak, or ponds close to the city that would have bass?

What color senko is this?
This is it! All of these colors are so close it is really hard to tell sometimes. The ones I have do have Blue flake and the bottom half does look like Watermelon. And yea, it is a great bluegill color. Probably explains the success I had yesterday considering the lake I was at does indeed have bluegill.

What color senko is this?
Thank you! Thank you! There is green at the bottom. It almost looks like a laminate because the darker section is only half of the worm. Thank you!

I'm considering moving away from CA and I am curious about NW Arkansas. How is the Bass fishing around this area for someone with a kayak? I've read that Beaver Lake can be tough. Is Lake Dardanelle good for LMB? I know that Table Rock and Bull Shoals is kind of close. For anyone who has fished the CA Delta, how do these areas compare? Thanks!!

What would you throw in this grass?
Thanks!! Thanks!! I'm not sure. I should probably purchase a thermometer so I have an idea. I've seen 1Rod do that fishing from the bank. Thanks!!

What would you throw in this grass?
I had the same thought today, but stuck with the bladed jig too long. Will probably give this a shot the next time I go. Thank you! I am fishing from a dock. I tried drop shotting with my ML but it's just not efficient as it gets stuck a lot. Power Shot would be a great presentation to make sure the plastic gets to the bottom. I could do this on my MH easily. I like the light T-rig and paddle tail suggestion as well. I need to pick up some flashy swimmers because I do have different size Keitechs to do this with. Thanks!! I have some punch rigs from @Siebert Outdoors that look similar to this and is definitely worth a shot. Thanks!!

What would you throw in this grass?
Location: Northern California, Small Pond Air Temperature: 50-55 Water Clarity: Clear Sunny The grass does not come all the way to the top of the water column. The pond is not very big at all. Thanks!!
