  1. Anyone been out on it lately or know any good spots to fish it in July?
  2. What kinda boat are you buying, and what are you lookin to catch? Bass, smallies, blue gill, cats????
  3. I have had pretty good luck with the flick shake, but no giants yet. The jackall ones are 5.99 for 3, wich was too salty for me. I found one of our local guys that sells one just like it called the Little Pek Shake that is very similar. His are 4.25 for 5 and they are weedless as well. http://tackle.redshad.com/proddetail.php?prod=PEKshake&cat=24
  4. Ok, sorry, I typed I can get under my deck. I meant to type, I cannot acces the underside of my deck by any means! The isolator bolts would just be used on the special mounting plate and not from the plate to the trolling motore. Sorry for the confusion. If anyone has other suggestions, let me know. Thanks Pont
  5. Ok, I got a question regarding the trolling motor isolator bolts. First off, I can get under the deck of my boat to mount the trolling motor with bolts etc. The isolator bolts won't be installed like normal, from the deck to the trolling motor. I have a special made aluminum mount on my deck to raise the motor up enough to get over the bow. Anyway this mount is about 18 in long, 6inches wide and 3 or 4 inches high. If I put 4 isolator bolts on each side of the mount, attatch the mount to it, will it do the same thing? I want to avoid drilling more unnesessary holes in the deck. Anyone used these before?
  6. I got paired with a woman during a tourny once and I asked her, hows this gonna work. She said you'll see. Well about 2 hrs later, she pulled out a big poncho raincoat, and hung her butt over the edge of the boat while holding the steering wheel! Pretty dang innovative I thought! Maybe i ought to carry one on one of the busy lakes. Do ya think dnr would beleive me if I said it was my bilge? LOL!
  7. Ok, here goes.....this weekend I broke out the new to me spro frog. LOVE the action on this frog, however before I put it in the water I noticed that it seemed to not compress very well due to the weight that they have at the back. So I thought I would tweek the hooks up just a hair like you would on a jig with weed guard to allow a better hook set. Anyway, 7ft med heavy rod with 20lb test line so very little stretch. Tossing it into the weeds for about 5 min, during a tourny mind you, and then the magic happend. 5lber slams it and sucks it in well, very well. Gave it just a seconed like you should, and then set the hook hard. I felt 3 good pumps from her and then nothin. Arg! Anyway I chalked it up to bad luck so back at it in the weeds. Bam, another one about 3lbs slammed it. Set the hook, and same thing happend. I took it off and put on a spook. Ended up in 3rd place instead of 1st damnit! Anyone got any suggestion other than ditchin this lure because the action is awsome? Thanks Pont
  8. Well, my advice to you is google earth man! Find some small tributaries and go up them. See if you can find any that open up into pits or whatnot. Good luck, that is some tough water. I know people catch a lot of fish there, but....

Best advice I can give you on a jig is when you first start fishing them, make sure you are on a lake that has a good jig bite. Join a club and get out with different members to see what they use. That is cheaper than buying a bunch of stuff that doesn't work all that great. I would buy some jigs with green in them and then get some that have different shades, like green and a small amt of purple, then green with a small amount of red or orange. These different shades of purple, orange, red or whatever will simulate the crawfish during there seasonal changes. So, the best advice is start of with a base color, green or brown or black and then throw in other colors with the skirts. Then try to get trailers to match it. After all this is done, I usually try to find a jig with an EWG hook and I personally like wire guards vs brush guards, but that's just me. Murky water break out the black blue, but I've found black and blue to be good really anytime so.... Clearer water go with greens/browns. Also if you catch a good bass, put him in the live well to see if he spits up some crafish. Look at the color of the crawfish it spits up and try to match that color.
  10. Thank you Glenn and everyone else. I was just about to buy rejuvinade and then I thought I should post to see what everyones opinions are. Glad I did because I probably would have had some dead fish! Thanks again Pont.
  11. What is everyones favorite livewell additive? Rejuivinade or??? I am looking for a good brand and have never used any before. Thanks Pont
  12. Drop shot is not illeagal on Lake Erie. If it was all of the 2007 northern divisional tourney would have been dq'd. Michigan and other lakes maybe but not Erie! Amen on that long leader trick brother!
  13. I used to like the amber color and it's still good depending on the water conditions, but I gotta tell ya if you haven't tried the mossback green by solar bat, you are missing out. I bought and store an extra set in the boat just incase I forget them or loose them. Nice thing is you can get them priscription as well if you need.
  14. I recommend the finess style. 3/8 to 1/2 oz is what I used a lot on Erie and most of the rivers I fish. 1/4 oz seemed to work best on most lakes. Does anyone know any good weedless hooks they recommend for dropshotting. I have seen some smaller hooks that you would use for texas rig or carolina rig, but was wondering everones sucess or lack of success on them?
  15. I know you are looking to start your own club but our club only has 11 boaters and 22 members. It is hit and miss as far as who shows up but for the most part we are always looking for new members. Check us out if you haven't already. We have a nice website, forum, sponsors, we do a casting kids even each march usually at gander mtn. Our 2008 schedule is posted already and we are having an open team tournament the weekend before the speedway bass masters at Geist. We only have one meeting in the winter months and we vote on everything because it is a club collective. Our bylaws can be seen along with past photos on the website. We fish bass and flw top 8's. If you have any other questions let me know. Send me a pm or just check out our website. www.whiteriverbass.com
  16. I just bought a boat and am looking at batteries for my trolling motor. I am going gel cell and am thinking about the Cabela's AGM batteries. I bought the Minn Kota maxxum 70lb thrust 24 volt. Any suggestions on which batteriey to get? Or should I say, will 2 of the 178 Reserve capacity batteries give me enough juice for all day. I do have a light boat. It's an aluminum 18ft with a 60horse etec on it. Boat loaded down is maybe 1000lbs with every thing in it. Suggestions........ Thanks Pont
  17. Ok all, I'm sure this has been posted a thousand times on here, but I just want everyones opinions. I just bought my first bass boat and I am trying to figure out what kind of batteries to buy for my trolling motor and what on-board charging system to use. Weight is a small issue due to the boat being a jet drive and the batteries will be more toward the front of the boat. I just don't know anything about them! I have a minn kota maxxum 70lb 24 volt trolling motor. I would like to keep it moderately priced, however if I have to go expensive I will. Thanks everyone
  18. Not sure about the rest of you, but I am lookin at the color of Ika T-Rig is usin! I'm gonna guess cinnamon grn & rd flk? Wish I could zoom in on that! >
  19. A trap is one of my favorite cranks and I really don't think they are used enough during summer months. People usually use them more in the spring and fall. I would use a the yo yo approch with longer pauses in the deeper water. Rod tip down if you are using med action rod, rod tip up if you are using med heavy rod. See what you like though, that is a personal pref thing. AND MAKE SURE TO REPLACE THOSE HOOKS STOCK HOOKS! I like the mustad tripple grips, but others will argue. Good luck
  20. Burning a crankbait through the area with an occasional pause can sometimes be productive, but a floting rapala stick bait and or fluke works well in those instances.
  21. I love the yammies on a 1/4 oz owner standup jig head, but I had to buy a mold to make the weedless ones that I really like. Paint, glitter and all the crud that goes with it, but I got the product that I want soo.......
  22. I just started drop shotting pretty steady this year and was wondering what everyones favorite drop shot plastics are. Thus far I really like the Yammamoto 4in cut tail worms. Does anyone have any other good Largmouth suggestions before the bait monkey slaps my A$$ and makes me spend a bunch of money on crap that doesn't work? Colors, sizes, hooks, you name it I'll listen! Thanks guys.
  23. I gotta say the 4 inch is an awsome on a drop shot set up.
  24. I have been burned twice by vanish and fished with two guys this weekend at the northern divisional of BASS that were using vanish. One guy had 8lb test on and I will attest that he had a med light spinning rod, drag set light, and played the fish properly and as soon as they got there fish to the boat....bink....vanish. I said, let me guess, Vanish? I said, you might want to look into Seaguar. I have been using seaguar for 2 years now and this year I am using the invisx and I am extremely impressed. This company outdoes itself on there product. Granted a 1000yd spool is 70bucks and some change, but that will last most of my year of fishing and I know I won't have to worry when the big one counts. Just my .02 cents and something to think about.
  25. Actually this tube is rigged weedless if you put the insert in texposed. This tube is actually the tube that Terry Mcwilliams took 4th place in the Bassmaster classic with. He worked his way up through the federation last year with this tube. I honestly think a tube is a tube, but he is a tube slingin you know what.
