  1. I'm looking to try some braid with fluorocarbon leaders on a spinning rod used for shaky head, flick shake, tubes and on a casting rod used for mostly senkos and flukes. Which size braid and fluoro leader do you folks reccomend? I'm thinking: spinning- 10 or 20lb braid and 8lb fluoro leader casting- 30 or 40 braid and 15lb fluoro leader Mostly interested in size reccomendations. Not to worried about brand at the moment.
  2. I have small hands and do not cast very well while palming the reel. If you use a left handed reel, cast with your right hand and do NOT palm the reel while casting you are in a worse situation because the hand you use to palm the reel is holding the handle of the rod. VERY AKWARD.
  3. OK. For a set of 4 rods. : That's not so bad. I thought it was for one....my mistake :-[
  4. I somehow stumbled across this. http://www.skeetscustomrods.com/freshwater-rods.html a seven hundred dollar crankbait rod? Dosent even tell what kind of blank? Anyone seen this before?
  5. This interested me b/c I wouldn't have to peg the weight ....wish I could see a pic of it.
  6. Scroll down and read the description...that is what got my attention.
  7. I just came across this. Was wondering how it looks when rigged? Does the hook point bury in the tube and make it weedless? Thanks http://www.honeycreektackle.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=151
  8. As I always say, What you have is always good enough untill you try something better. I'm sure others will comment about the warrenty thing. But what he said is true in some cases.
  9. OK...I agree...there reviews are :...What I think REALLY stinks is there rating system. I think I heard about the buyout on Tackletours "FORUM". But as far as I know I could have been rumor. The website does state that the Pres. Steped down. The best thing about tackle tour is the pictures
  10. I believe Avid fishing Loomis, St. Croix as well as other rods. It is not that hard to gain this knowledge if you read and follow the industry. www.tackletour.com is a great source
  11. Thanks Dan, I'll be sure to give this one a try.
  12. For those who have tried it what do ya think? One thing that interested me was that it is said to be good with braid. Has anyone tried it with braid? I would like to have an alternative to tying the palomar with braid because I go through quite a bit of line cutting off the tag end. I have only tried it on light mono and have had good success so far. http://www.netknots.com/html/fishing_knots.html
  13. Sorry for using the somewhat unrelated example. I have fished light tackle for years for river smallies. 6lb test mostly. Last year I switched to Hybrid 6lb. which is about .001" larger than what 6lb. I had previously used. So far I have not noticed a difference but I may have to do a little head to head fishing this winter because this seems to be when the fish are pickiest and it matters the most.
  14. Drums, The heaviest P-line CXX I have used is 15lb. and I have to say that it does have quite a lot of memory and is stiff. I can imagine what 20lb. would be like. But the stuff is so TUFF and has little stretch and that is why I liked it. I also like 15lb Trilene Big Game which is a little softer but not quite as tuff.
  15. I will SECOND this rod as well!
