Braid And Fluoro Leader Recomendations
I'm looking to try some braid with fluorocarbon leaders on a spinning rod used for shaky head, flick shake, tubes and on a casting rod used for mostly senkos and flukes. Which size braid and fluoro leader do you folks reccomend? I'm thinking: spinning- 10 or 20lb braid and 8lb fluoro leader casting- 30 or 40 braid and 15lb fluoro leader Mostly interested in size reccomendations. Not to worried about brand at the moment.

Why don't more pro's use left hand baitcasters?
I have small hands and do not cast very well while palming the reel. If you use a left handed reel, cast with your right hand and do NOT palm the reel while casting you are in a worse situation because the hand you use to palm the reel is holding the handle of the rod. VERY AKWARD.

OK. For a set of 4 rods. : That's not so bad. I thought it was for one....my mistake :-[

Has anyone used this???
I just came across this. Was wondering how it looks when rigged? Does the hook point bury in the tube and make it weedless? Thanks http://www.honeycreektackle.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=151

Higher end rod companies
As I always say, What you have is always good enough untill you try something better. I'm sure others will comment about the warrenty thing. But what he said is true in some cases.

Castaway Rods
OK...I agree...there reviews are :...What I think REALLY stinks is there rating system. I think I heard about the buyout on Tackletours "FORUM". But as far as I know I could have been rumor. The website does state that the Pres. Steped down. The best thing about tackle tour is the pictures

Castaway Rods
I believe Avid fishing Loomis, St. Croix as well as other rods. It is not that hard to gain this knowledge if you read and follow the industry. www.tackletour.com is a great source

San Diego Jam Knot
For those who have tried it what do ya think? One thing that interested me was that it is said to be good with braid. Has anyone tried it with braid? I would like to have an alternative to tying the palomar with braid because I go through quite a bit of line cutting off the tag end. I have only tried it on light mono and have had good success so far. http://www.netknots.com/html/fishing_knots.html

"The Truth About Light Tackle"
Sorry for using the somewhat unrelated example. I have fished light tackle for years for river smallies. 6lb test mostly. Last year I switched to Hybrid 6lb. which is about .001" larger than what 6lb. I had previously used. So far I have not noticed a difference but I may have to do a little head to head fishing this winter because this seems to be when the fish are pickiest and it matters the most.

"The Truth About Light Tackle"
Drums, The heaviest P-line CXX I have used is 15lb. and I have to say that it does have quite a lot of memory and is stiff. I can imagine what 20lb. would be like. But the stuff is so TUFF and has little stretch and that is why I liked it. I also like 15lb Trilene Big Game which is a little softer but not quite as tuff.

worm rod
I will SECOND this rod as well!

"The Truth About Light Tackle"
I liked the part about "balanced tackle" the best. I think too often people pick rods with reels and line and lures that do not work well togather. For example, I just read in another post where someone tried 20# P-Line CXX and said it was like speaker cable. It probably would if you were using a T-rigged Worm or tube and a 1/4oz weight. But put a 1/2 oz jig with a trailer on there and see what happens. JMHO

PLine CX Premium
P Line CXX X-tra Strong is one of my favorite lines. I have used the 6# on spinning alot and without any trouble. I also use Yo-Zuri Hybrid (not the ultra soft) in 6# which has a larger diameter than the P-Line. I have no trouble with this line either. Even after it has sat on my Daiwa 2000 series spinning reel for months. I alway hear people complain about line manageablility on spinning reels and how P-line and Hybrid are too wirey. People just need to learn to spool there reels properly. Even more important than spooling your reel properly is to use the trick of letting your line out without any lure or bait on the end and then reeling it back in. This works best in water but also on land. I believe the technique has been discussed on here before.

Sturgeon General Warning:"Senkonlylimitativism"
I suffer also. I have been getting better with help from the Zoom Horny Toad, but maybe its just a new addiction? I used to be the same way with the tube...then the fluke...then the trick worm. I love to fish weightless soft plastics, especially the senko

Braggin Time
22" LM in early May. I don't have a scale so I don't know what it weighed. I caught it on a watermelon Zoom Horny Toad. It jumped completely out of the water as it hit the bait about 3ft. from the bank I was standing on. It wasn't much of a fight as I only turned the reel handle a couple times before I lipped it.

This stuff is great for your face. For the rest of my body I'm not too particular as long as it's not too thick. http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100809&navAction=jump&navCount=2&skuid=sku369230&id=prod369229

Fishing in wind!?!?
I've been doing well with a senko in the wind. It seems that the wind creates some current to help drift the senko. It is just a little hard to watch your line and keep it semi-tight. I used to hate the wind but now I am getting used to controlling the boat. ( high powered trolling motor and anchor helps) I was once told that during alot of wind is when you will catch a big one. It helps cut down on visibility and noise.

Which do you prefer to catch
River smallies, which is what I do best. 3lb. smallmouth, 6lb. line.....Oh yea! I love fishing for Largemouth too though.
