Do any of you own some of the high end jdm reels like Daiwa exist, airity, Shimano Stella, vanquish, etc? Do you guys notice a difference and is it worth it? I’d like to purchase one of them someday but scared that it might feel just like my Pfleuger reels. Thanks!

That’s what I ended up doing. I just switched to 2lb mono. The guides were probably cutting the knot. Fishing for trout/panfish. Thanks!

I have an ultralight set up using a 5lb nano braid (0.05mm diameter) with a 4lb seaguar fluoro leader. I tried the double uni or blood knot and it keeps breaking off. Are the guides cutting through the knot? Or do I need to use a stronger knot? I have an ultralight rod that has very small guides closer to the tip. I’m so confused on why it keeps breaking off. Any advice?

I switch to trout fishing when it gets really cold

I have been trout fishing a lot lately, but yesterday I decided to fish for bass again as I miss the feeling of my rod loading up and setting the hook. I usually would catch at least 1-2 every time I go out regardless of weather and conditions, but not the past 2 days. I’ve tried everything and no bites at all. Weather is in low 70’s (California). I also moved around and just couldn’t find the fish. Feeling a bit defeated and would appreciate some tips.

Del valle is your best bet. Get there as soon as they open. Usually on a weekday boats won’t be sold out.

It was literally just a week ago. Used it twice and they told me if I only had used it once it would’ve been fine to exchange. Very disappointing. This is a very popular local mom and pop shop in our area too. i probably won’t buy reels there anymore. I should’ve bought it at BPS

Unfortunately it was from a local tackle shop. They wouldn’t let me exchange it. A little disappointing but I understand. Wish I had bought it at BPS instead, I would’ve been able to return it hassle free. Decided to go through warranty route and shipped it today.

The bait monkey got me (see previous post) and decided to pull the trigger on a Shimano Vanford 1000. Now…… the problem is that it feels a little rough when reeling in. I can definitely tell there’s something wrong with it. would it be better to send it for warranty or send it to a guy I know that service reels (he’s charging me $50 plus any bad parts) Thanks guys!

I’m in the Bay Area but I’m actually in Oregon right now. Renting a place for vacation with a private lake. Owner said it’s full of bass and trout but I haven’t gotten a bite yet ?

3/0-4/0 EWG, 1/4 oz tungsten and Texas rig that senko or fat ika in green pumpkin/black flake. slowly drag it on the bottom and pause for about 10-30 seconds, then drag it again. Even better if it’s not windy l just go weightless
