I agree - you can do what you want to make it your own, but it all depends on how you use it.

If all you're wanting to do is Internet, email, pictures, etc., then anything off the shelf at Best Buy or one of the office stores will work just fine. Dual processor would be a waste for those needs. Specs should be at least 1gb ram, 100gb hard drive, multimedia reader (for all your camera/gps cards), and some form of cd/dvd burner. Throw in a decent size flat screen monitor and you should be all set for well under $1000. -Genie
