- Any suggestions for low memory mono?
Thanks for the heads up. They only had 6, 8 and 17lb at the store when I was there.- Silver/ grey LMB
This definitely provides some insight, thanks for this. Due to the fact that there are many bass in the pond that are like this, I’m thinking environment or genetics have to play some type of role as many of the bass are making the same color change.- Silver/ grey LMB
Whats strange though is the water in the pond is pretty dark. Visibility is only a couple feet, I’m not sure how deep the water is but I don’t think it’s more than say 20 ft at any point.- Silver/ grey LMB
Agreed that the darker a bass is the prettier/ healthier it looks.- Silver/ grey LMB
For whatever reason you can see a hint of green in the picture but it is grey to the human eye. Other people who fish the pond have also mentioned to me that the bass are “the silver kind” whatever that means.- Silver/ grey LMB
The new pond that I’ve been going to has a typical mix of NLMB and bluegills. With the bass some are the usual green/ black and others are almost silver/ grey looking. Is this some type of genetic mutation? Tried searching this forum and even googled it and still can’t find anything. The discolored silver looking bass make up a decent amount of the bass in the pond. Here is an example. Slight hint of green but appears grey more than anything.- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
I fish a variety of different ponds and lakes but the small ponds are always the most peaceful. No motors. Sometimes it’s worth getting in a kayak and going on a small pond if you’re able.- Anyone else Tagging the Bass they catch?
Great Daves think alike ?- Anyone else Tagging the Bass they catch?
Yes those are the ones except they were bright yellow.- no wake zones. when people dont follow it
Be glad you are not him. Here he was, in the beautiful outdoors, and on the water no less. Even in that environment he acted like that. As frustrating as it must of been, people like that should be pitied. No way does he have peace when on the water.- Anyone else Tagging the Bass they catch?
The ones I remember were about an inch or so long and were bright yellow. Had the fisherman’s name on it. Seemingly the technology has changed, I stand corrected.- Any suggestions for low memory mono?
Update: Went to a nearby pond this afternoon. Fished with the new spool of Sufix Elite and am very pleased with it. After wetting the spool the memory was not an issue at all, it casts smoothly, and was a pleasure to tie a knot with. It is very light and even soft to the touch. Was surprised by that. I can’t imagine a mono line being much better than this, which really makes me excited for Sufix Advance. I will have to try that next season.- Latest Catch Pics Thread

Decided on Sufix Elite, will let you all know how it fares. Was gonna go with Sufix Advance but Dick’s didn’t have it in 12lb which is what I fish with. Thanks everyone for the feedback and keep the convo going! Appreciate all of your responses and perspectives.- Any suggestions for low memory mono?
Matt from Tactical Bassin swears by this stuff.- Any suggestions for low memory mono?
Have seen this, never tried it. The packaging does boast several features including low memory and longer casting (just looked it up). May have to try this!- Anglers helping other anglers
Certainly a fair point. For me I definitely let my guard down with a fellow pond hopper who is either bank fishing or car topping. I won’t give away an exact honey hole, but I’ll give the low down on some general stuff. It’s a good way to learn too!- Any suggestions for low memory mono?
Have always fished with straight mono, always have and always will. It’s tried and true in my book. Looking to pick up a spool today. Any suggestions on which one is best for low memory?- Poppers: large vs small
Only popper I’ll throw is the good ole Heddon Lucky 13. So large for me!- Anyone else Tagging the Bass they catch?
My stepfather use to do this in the 80s/ early 90s in a public lake for no other reason but to see if he caught the same fish twice. For a self described CPR guy, I have no idea why he did it still. Just seems unnecessary and can’t imagine it is good for the bass. I would fear that it might make them more visible, for both their prey and their predators. Also I’m a big advocate for leaving the water either the same, or better than I found it. Sorry to be that guy but I’ve never been crazy about the tagging thing unless it’s for a legitimate scientific purpose.- No mono, no fluoro, just braid?
I’ve always heard that you can’t tie straight braid to a reel, that you have to load it with mono first and then tie on the braid because it won’t fit into the groves. Either way I’m straight mono.- How Old?
I’m 40 and caught my current PB three weeks ago. Didn’t have a scale with me but it was a solid 4 pounds I think. Many here probably remember as it was recent and I asked the forum to help me guess the weight.- Found a great place for Kayak on windy days (upstate NY)
Thanks for this tip, I will definitely check it out. And don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Don’t want to see it get blown up. It probably sees little to no fishing pressure because it’s right next to the lake which gets all the pressure.- Found a great place for Kayak on windy days (upstate NY)
Good to know! I grew up on Cossayuna which is right next to that pond. - Any suggestions for low memory mono?
