I'm hear you on using the double tail as a trailer but the pond where i fish some guy told me that they kill in there and caught one as i was leaving!! btw i got skunked that day so im sure he knows a little more than i do about that pond. either way im gonna try it. and if it was used primarily for trailers why would they pair it up with jigs in packages you can buy?? just a thought

fishing lure weights
This may sound like a stupid question but its a serious one and i've been wondering it for awhile and tried doing searches on the net about it and found nothing. In order of lightest to heaviest what are the weights that lures come in, the 8ths confuse the crap out of me and i cant compare it to a oz or a 1/2 oz cause i dont know the difference lol. Just keep in mind im still a nooby at fishing so any help would be appreciated

Small Pond Fishing
heres my 2 cents worth i primarily fish a small pond all summer. mister twister grubs work great 4'' double tails and when summer hits and the weeds get thick i'll throw texas rigged 5'' to 7''worms

baitcasting issue
dont get me wrong i understand the fact that its going to take some time to get it and educate my thumb but when i was reading the baitcast setup i didnt understand this Now you have re-adjusted your cast control. Set the plug at the 6" mark again and repeat the process. Do this until you have the plug falling to the ground or floor without the spool turning more than 1/2 turn. For a beginner I would set the cast control tighter so that when the plug hits the ground or floor without the spool turning more than 1/4 turn (that's pretty tight). the spool has to turn like 10 times in order for it to reach the floor so a 1/4 of a turn is going to go like 1 inch am i reading this wrong i dunno???

baitcasting issue
On saturday i finally got a chance to use my brand new baitcasting set up not sure if i had something set up wrong or what but only a casting distance of 15 yards using either a 1/4 oz or 1/2 buzzbait i cant remember the weight but it was kinda heavy. Now this was my first time using this style of a reel but 15 yards thats it?? i bought this thinking i could cast it a mile. For the set up its a daiwa 100h and its on a 7'mh bionic blade. Now im thinking i shouldve bought a good spinning set up which i still might. its on 12lb test line as well. any advice would be great maybe im just being ridiculous but just curious to know what the average casting distances are considering im new to this style. thanks guys

Ugly Stick- I just don't get it.
The ugly stick has served its purpose for me for nearly 4 years. Ive got an ultra lite that i use for trout and has been the only thing ive caught bass on. Until a week ago when ive finally decided to take my hobby to another level purchasing a baitcast combo... which i still havent used > But they do serve their purpose. Besides its the excuse im using to get my girlfriend out there with me now that i have an extra pole and they're reasonably priced

nooby looking for rod and reel combo need help!!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the welcomes and greetings this site is awesome and im so glad i stumbled upon it. Kudos to the people who take the time and effort to make this a great site theres so much information. I made my purchase last night(i know i said two weeks but who's counting)lol. i bought the daiwa procaster 6+1 with a 7'mh bionic blade 109$$ not a bad find in my opinion. my only question is which line to buy for it?? any suggestions. my only worry is since im primarily and avid pond fisherman (id like to get out on some lakes) is this practical for what i want to achieve. either way im pumped about getting out there.

nooby looking for rod and reel combo need help!!!!
Hey guys!! just signed up and thought this would be a great place for some pointers on purchasing a rod and reel combo. Ive outgrown the ugly stick and figured its time to buy a baitcast reel although ive never used one ive got all summer to practice. But i just dont know where to begin. Im not tall 5'7 and i usually fish with a texas rigged plastic worm and grubs. But have only used my ugly stick which is great but i want better results especially for bass. Another question i have is these combos im looking for are primarily for bass would they be ok for walleye and other types of fish that are in the finger lakes region where i live. I'm going to bass pro shops in a week or two to make a purchase so any advice is greatly appreciated. Trout season starts tomorrow!!! THanks
