  1. Is that $91 price @ the store or online catalog?? Can't find it. Swiff
  2. Learn the "roll cast"...feather it at entry. Best technique for me anywho. Accuracy comes with practice.
  3. Try fishing with a 230# troll who used to hawl-seine in the Cheasapeake Bay on a 42' trawler and still thinks he 's on one when in my little 16' boat. It's like fishing with someone in a 4' chop. Slamming lids, hanging up so I gotta back up to save a lure, boat barely gets up on plane with HIS fat arse aboard, forgets he can't sidearm cast without hitting ME, can't afford to buy even his own tackle, baits, hooks, etc. I could go on, but bottom line, his company ain't worth the aggravation and I' going to start fishing a LOT more by myself. Saves gas too, which he also can't afford to help out with....phew! A leech, and more. Thanks for letting me rant.
  4. Boys, I know I'm not the sharpest tack in the box, but when it comes to my tackle, I usually research, disect, check/recheck, discuss it ad nauseum on the board for advice, welll you get the picture. That said, the customer service satisfaction I have had with BPS for many, many yrs allows me to re-iterate---my mistake! Even with the less than stellar rod I expected, I'll take my lumps as a lesson and start watching for the minutia that more and more retailers add in their marketing practices. It's a dog eat dog deal in retailing, and Johnny Morris has given me a spanking, but my mistake. LOL... Heck, I gots 'bout 30 different rod/reel outfits laying round so I ain't hurting over this, I will adapt to it. Thanks for all the feed back cause I wuz thinking I'd got so decrepit that I just couldn't PULL hard nuff! ..SWIFF
  5. It came with the ETX10HC (last yrs model) Price was ~$70~ and I knew that it was the old model reel, but didn't know about the other model rods being different entirely. my mistake. After considerable rumination, I may try one out with my S/B reel and see if its got guts enuff fer dat. Otherwise, back to the bait monkey straight jacket, cause I got too much stuff as it is. Running outta room. ...SWIFF
  6. Well, Matt 5.0, I am on the "rods, reels, & line forum, at least on my PC web page, and Yep- I ended up with the "Extreme Performance" series, and Yep, they're BLACK. Too many variations @ BPS to weed thru cause I only saw "EXTREME" on sale and went for it what with the bait monkey and all. Crucials will have to suffice for other apps such as cranking, lipless and S/B's--LOL. Like the reels well enough, but may go back to my shimano reels. Buyer beware I guess....SWIFF
  7. I bought 2 BPS Extreme combos with the 6'6 MH rods. I noticed the action/power or whatever is waaay slower than it ought to be IMO. I couldn't pull hard enought to bring up a nice bass out of heavy timber yesterday, even with 15# Big Game mono. The rod bent from the tip to the butt in a classic parabolic bend. Anyone else disappointed with the action/usability of these models? I guess they're the newest models (black). Guess I'll have to go back to my hvy action Diawa L/T's with 15# P-Line CX premium in gin clear water and hope for the best. Braid is outta the question due to clear water as well, concerning line to use. Any suggestions to keep them basses from whipping me to death?? ///SWIFF
  8. Thx Raul, I guess I been bushwhacked, huh? Used P-Line flouroclear before Yo-Zuri Ultra soft and liked that particular line, but no idea about how the cx performs on baitcasters in the brush. Don't know til I throw I guess. Swiff
  9. Cannot get search function to pull up posts on ANYTHING. Looking for info on P-Line CX premiun mono. Is it a new line? Bought some this week on recommendation of tackle store clerk/basser in 15# test for S/B's on an Extreme reel. Any help? (esp about the search prob). Thanks
  10. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I had a spool of 15# big Game and decided against braid from prior experience in timber-too many break-offs. Suffix may be a step up from BG, but overall, BG is more affordable IMHO and gets the job done quite well as a rule. Sooo, I'm cheapenin' up and beefing up at the same time. Tight lines-SWIFF
  11. RW....My partner & I lost some really nice LM in heavy timber on weightless senkos and Zoom Lizards yesterday and after dark. Couldn't haul back with enuff force to keep em up and so forth. I'm tired of paying high dollar for the Ultra Soft what with S&H. Works out to about $17/600 yds anywhere I can find it. Have you tried suffix elite? Your thoughts on an alternative is appreciated. I fish heavy timber most of the time and need a line I can find easy. I'm switching to a Daiwa L/T 5RB rod (12-25#line) and a Shimano 200B to get leverage on these fish and I can't seem to manage casting bigger than 15# w/o problems. Whaddya think? Papadew
  12. Ya might know this would happen just 3-4 days after sending in a 5600D5 ABU for repair/evaluation. Wonder if I'll ever see it again.... :-
  13. In principle this is a great idea. However, I bought one, it was loose, wobbly, and popped the c-clips, and bolts backed out causing a potentially hazardous problem. Sent it back, discussed probs with the mfg'ers who were more than accomodating, they sent me another and had basically same probs. I even changed out worn pedestal floor mount with no change. I think they now have the screw in model and solved the probs, but I went back to solid screw-in pin pole and put the kwik-drop on the storage shelf. The mfg'rs are good folks and will do whatever it takes to help you. I just don' like wobbly seats, for what it's worth. Swiff
