  1. Just recently purchased a fr733c when they were on sale but I'm wondering if I should have got a 734c instead. I fish mainly for smallmouth in open water and got the 733c to use as an "all purpose" type rod tossing 3/8 spinnerbaits, 3/8 chatterbaits w/ trailer, underspins and paddletails. Will the 733c work for this or will it be underpowered? I haven't even taken the plastics off yet so I'm debating on trying to sell it as new and getting a 734c
  2. I was looking at those but then I came across the smoking deal on a Sierra. Will keep an eye out for the Tatulas to go on sale and add one of those to my arsenal
  3. Yeah, looking forward to giving it a whirl. Got the SA702SF for 125.99 out the door!!
  4. I was able to grab a Sierra 702sf for $129 so I decided to give that a whirl. Looking forward to giving that a whirl! I grabbed a Lancer Pro casting rod because of your recommendation a few days ago!
  5. The only thing that has kept me from snagging one of these is that its rated for 1/8-1/2oz. For whatever reason my brain wants me to get something that does 1/16....why? your guess is as good as mine. I have a FR663SF that I bought that I haven't really used much so I haven't gotten a feel for sensitivity, etc. Picked up a 733c the other day too. Debating on getting another Fury but also interested in trying another company. Ive heard the Lancer Pro's are decent and they are on sale for 69.99 at TW also.
  6. Looking to pickup a ML/XF or ML/F spinning rod under $125. Going to be doing alot more drop shots, neds, finesse jigs this year for smallmouth. Whatcha all got for me?
  7. Decent sized smallies in Topaz, right outside of Carson City! That's my go-to spot!
  8. Newbie question...just picked up a Dobyns 733c rod and I was curious if it would be decent for finesse jigs, lighter spinnerbaits, smaller paddletails? Looking to pair it with my SLX MGL or Lews Team Lite Speed Spool reel. What other applications would you recommend for that rod? 90% of the time fishing for smallmouth in open water, little cover. Thanks!
  9. Sounds like for $40, ya cant go wrong. I picked up a Lancer Pro a few days ago for 69.99 because I heard those were great rods as well. Might as well tack on a AIRD X
  10. Might make a good chatterbaits, spinnerbait, etc rod then?
  11. I just recently picked up a fury 733c and interested to give it a whirl. Think ill snag an AIRD X as well, since its only $40! Do the AIRD X fish true to their power?
  12. They're on sale at an online reseller for 39.99 right now too
  13. Does anyone see any issues with this pairing? I know the MGL excels with lighter baits so I was wondering if the 733c would pair nicely with it or should I take a step down and get a M powered rod? Typically the Dobyns line are a little softer than their rating and I havent tried the 733c yet, but grabbed one on sale for $90 to have in the arsenal. Ill be bank fishing, open water, little structure/vegetation for smallies. 30lb braid, tossing lighter spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, paddletails, lighter jigs, etc. Thanks!
  14. Just recently picked up a used Tatula CT for a screaming deal so now im looking for yet another rod to put it on and im not trying to break the bank. The Ark Lancer Pro was recommended as a good rod for the money but ive seen very few reviews on it. Has anyone fished these? At one of the online retailers they currently have them on sale for 69.99 from 99.99. Thinking a 7'0 MH/F rod...fishing for smallies from shore and planning on using it for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, maybe some trigs, etc. Open water, very little vegetation or structure. I also saw the Daiwa Aird X was on sale for 39.99, which I have seen people recommend for a solid budget rod. Thoughts/opnions? Thanks in advance
  15. Its been ordered! Looking forward to giving it a try! cant beat bargain prices!
  16. Forgot to add its pretty much open water....not much cover. And not too many beastly smallies.
  17. is 12lb Tatsu fine on a a tatula CT? Will be mainly fishing for SM from shore. Going to be using it with plastics, lighter spinnerbaits, etc. Have no experience with Tatsu but interested in trying it out on the new reel....especially at 30% off
  18. Ill have to check these out! thanks for the rec!
  19. The Fury lines usually run one power off dont they? So the 733MH is more like a medium?
  20. Fishing from shore with a Tatula reel and looking to pair it with something that can throw lighter weight plastics, keitechs, and finesse jigs. Budget is around 100 or less. Saw theres some Fury's on sale for around 90 bucks...is that the best bang for your buck right now? Thanks in advance
  21. Been looking at picking up another reel to use as an "all around" type and came across a Team Lew's Lite reel locally in perfect condition for $120. Anyone have one of these and want to share their experience? Originally, I was looking at getting an SLX 151, which after taxes comes out pretty close to the $120 of the Lew's Lite. Furthermore, to really make things indecisive, there's a guy selling brand new Quantum KVD Smoke S3 for $70. I will be fishing mainly for SM from shore with an occasional LM trip in some of the ponds here in Northern Nevada. What do I pull the trigger on?
  22. One thing to note also, is that I found a $10 off coupon and also $10 off for a new customer....bringing the cost of the Plfueger President XT Limited Edition down to $29.99. I took a stab at it for that price...worst case im not a huge fan and it can be a backup reel or one of my trout reels! I will have to take a peak at the Regal and Carbonlite reels as well! Thanks for all the input!
  23. In the market for a new spinning reel for drop shots, neds, and other finesse. Mainly shore fishing fairly shallow waters for SM. It was brought to my attention that the Pflueger President XT Limited Edition is on sale for 49.99, which is the same price as the Daiwa Revros 2000 (been eyeballing this one and hoping for maybe a black friday sale). Which reel is better for the money? Also, i know the President XT LEs are smaller so would I want to go with a 30x or 25x? Could i put 10lb braid on those still? Thanks a bunch!
