Been grinding it out in the cold, rain, etc. but landed my P.B. Coming in at 3.13lbs. Caught on a Texas rigged Strike King cut-r worm. After a DMV appointment, I had an hour window to fish. Funny thing is I caught this on a zebco travel combo because I had no intention on fishing that day.

Thanks! haven't seen any gators yet luckily lol. Just about every spot has a sign up warning about gators.

Flipping and pitching rod and reel setup.
From what I understand you set up your reel for pitching a specific way and I don't want to change settings back and forth as I present my bait. My idea is to have one setup for the application I like to throw. I have a worm/plastic setup, a jig setup, jerk/crank setup, etc... In my mind it makes it easier, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm wasting money lol.

Flipping and pitching rod and reel setup.
Yeah I saw that forum. I was browsing there earlier. So regardless of budget, what would you suggest? I don't mind going above that as long as it's quality gear that I can get my money's worth out of.

Typically laydowns and lilly pads, mainly, moderate at worst. I'd be throwing a weighted texas rigged worm or a swim jig with a craw creature trailer. While bank fishing at one spot last year I casted right between some lillies by accident and something big hit my bait. It had me wrapped up and of course broke me off because I was trying to get it out of there with a light test line compared to what I've read being used.

Flipping and pitching rod and reel setup.
I have been watching videos on pitching and flipping. I'm new to the concept and I remember this past year where I could have used this technique in some of the spots I've fished. I'm curious to see what you guys would suggest as a good rod and reel setup. I'm not looking to break the bank, however, I also don't want junk lol. Thanks for any input you guys may have. I'll go back to researching some more.

Hello from SC by way of VA.
Yeah I figured it may be too cold. I went out to a reservoir after work yesterday and threw a jig, senko, crank and a lipless but no love. Talked to a couple of guys pulling in on their boats and they got skunked as well. Thanks for the tips, I'm definitely looking forward to that Feb. bite.

Hello from SC by way of VA.
Well let's try and keep it short and sweet. I currently live in Virginia and recently got into bass fishing, Jan. of this year and I love it. I've watched a ton of fishing videos on YouTube and pulled the trigger at the end of 2020 into 2021. I've always been a salt water guy so this is new territory. I'm mainly a bank fisher but at times I get up to the Williamsburg area and rent a motor and johnboat to fish Waller Mill. I do travel for work at times and I'm currently in Charleston, SC, which I absolutely love. I brought my four poles and tackle with me, went out twice but skunk city both times. I still have a lot to learn and look forward to gaining some knowledge. I know it's "Winter", however, the past few days have been in the 70's. I tried it all yesterday. Top water frog over lilly pads, A good ol texas rigged green pumpkin with red flake senko, spinner with creature bait trailer and a drop shot with a Yammamoto shad. Any advice of what to throw or presentation?
