Been grinding it out in the cold, rain, etc. but landed my P.B. Coming in at 3.13lbs. Caught on a Texas rigged Strike King cut-r worm. After a DMV appointment, I had an hour window to fish. Funny thing is I caught this on a zebco travel combo because I had no intention on fishing that day.  

Right now where I am, it's the primetime bream spawn.  That's what the bass are eating....and the bream are in the shallows.

 

Bank fishing can be more productive than from a kayak or boat right now.

Excellent. The PB's just love to surprise you. I've been catching LM, Spots, Hybrids, and Stripers up shallow and all on the same lures. They're feeding on fry and the Shad spawn is about to take place.

Yep, spring bite is always my favorite time of year for chasing the big girls, fall is for numbers, summer and winter are for seeing how much hair is on your chest, because your going to earn every fish with sweat or hypothermia.

DeiZel minnow in sexy shad rigged on a 1/8th oz belly weighted hook.

 

I've been tearing them up on it.

Unweighted fluke is about as good as it can get this time of year, hard jerkbaits if you have deep enough water or a watercraft of some variety for retrieval when you hang them up, can fish an unweighted fluke at any part of the water column, can go fast, slow, swim it, let it death spiral, easily one of my favorite soft plastic baits, if you want something even slower a jig would be the other bait I wouldn't even think about leaving home without, good luck and congratulations on the PB, hope you break it again soon!

Congrats on PB> Pounding the bank is the only way to go, imho. I've caught more giants off the banks....or at least I'm able to hook them and hold them and land them. Seems like they mostly dance their way off from a kayak, the big ones at least lol Just for kicks, I recorded my lengths on a good morning bank fishing in the everglades and when all was said and done I was at 110 inches for the best 5 fish! Those figures seemed nice and high for a single morning, so for the heck of it I joined a national bass fishing tournament that allowed boat, kayak, and bank fishing. Over 100 entries and I ended up winning the thing! So the banks hold high merit and can produce extremely well. Keep on banking!
