  1. I just respooled with some McCoy mean green and it’s casting great with a 1/16 jig head. Thanks
  2. I bought a new Daiwa tatula LT 3000, shallow spool model. It’s a very smooth reel but have a question, I have used it twice and both times, line jumped off the spool and bird nested pretty bad. I’m using 6# Yozuri hybrid and used this line for years with zero issues. any suggestions? I thought the first time that I might have overfilled the spool but pulled off quite a bit and it happened again
  3. I use a 6 foot Go dady ML extra fast spinning rod with a Diawa tatula 3000 series with a shallow spool and Yozuri 6 pound hybrid
  4. I’m looking for an all purpose rod for river smallmouth. I’m sort of leaning towards a medium power rod but not sure whether to choose a fast or extra fast action. I’ll mainly be throwing vision 110 and jrs, 3/8 ounce spinnerbaits, and dragging 1/8 and 1/4 ounce tubes and skirted jigs with an occasional unweighted fluke. I’m leaning towards a Loomis glx or SC legend in the 6’6” lengths but open to other lengths and brands thanks
  5. Is the Loomis a nrx? I have an older falcon low rider from the late 90’s. It’s a casting rod that I caught tons of smallmouth slinging rattling rogues and the Diawa TD minnow. It’s a 6’ and does great but I’m just not too good with a bait caster
  6. I’d really like to put my hands on one of these rods. I read great reviews on them and believe they were designed to use the 110 series jerks.
  7. I’m looking for a mid to higher end suggestions for a spinning rod that’ll likely be a dedicated jerk rod. I mostly throw vision 110 jr’s but do throw the full sized ones occasionally I am open to all brands Thank
  8. Check missle bait micro jigs. I use them with the 2” net bait craw. The skirts aren’t super durable but you get two jigs for about $7 and they produce
  9. Nice looking reel. Have you ordered from that site before?
  10. I’m a spinning gear guy. I’ve tried baitcasters and do okay with them but they aren’t my go to reel. I am looking for good quality spinning reel with a paddle handle (I think that’s what is called) the larger styled handle mainly for jerk baits and occasional spinner bait. The Diawa tatula 3000 with the shallow spool caught my eye. Any JDM specific suggestions or different handle options for regular spinning reels would be appreciated
  11. Those are great looking skirted jigs and I like his plain jig head options
  12. I fish in rivers with an average depth of 6’ or so. I started using the missle micro jigs late last summer and did fairly well. I like the missle bait for the most part but am curious what other folks use skirted jig wise in rocky rivers for smallies and what weight you all use? thanks
  13. Does anyone know if the 3000 has the larger T styled handle or does it have the smaller handle like the 2500? I tried to find the info on the Diawa website but didn’t any luck. I like the larger handle for jerk bait fishing
  14. I mounted a vanford 2000 on a 7’ Expride light + today. The balance is awesome.
  15. My A series light + was delivered today. I’m really impressed with it. I put a 2000 vanford on it with 10# PP. It’ll sling a 1/16 ball jig with no plastic really far. I’m just waiting on the river levels to drop to give it a go. It does seem to be an excellent ned rig rod for sure.
  16. I gave an older low rider and it’s a solid rod. It’s a late 90’s model thought but still a great rod
  17. Does anyone have any feedback on the shimano Expride light +? I’m considering buying one for a dedicated ned rod but don’t see many reviews or opinions. I see the new B version is out now and some say it’s action is a little heavier than the A version thanks
  18. Hi all I’m going to ask Santa Claus to bring me a new ned rod for Christmas. I’m not brand loyal at all. I generally throw 1/8 oz heads and lighter. I’m using a st croix avid ml fast action now, it’s good but looking for something as a dedicated ned rod. Many thanks
  19. I have a phenix 6’10” light spinning rod. I’ll check out their casting rods. The spinning rod is rated 1/16 - 3/8 ounce. It’s got a soft tip but good backbone
  20. Dang, you guys are awesome! So much info to digest with great options
  21. Do you like it? I haven’t heard of that brand and new to the bfs scene and it appears the Japanese are leading the charge on this technique and their suppliers are ahead of the us companies
  22. I’d likely use it as an all purpose rod; ned rigs 1/20 and 1/16 oz, small cranks 1/4 oz and jerks about a 1/4 oz but may fling a 3/8 oz jerk occasionally if the rod will handle it. 6’6” is my preferred length but have 6’ and 7’ rods too
  23. I’m not sure if the low rider is a trout model. It’s an older one from either the late 90’s to early 2000’s. It’s a 6’ model and doesn’t list the action but it seems moderate to moderate fast and loads really nice when chunking lures
  24. How does the 700 work with smaller treble hook lures and ned styled lures?
