  1. I just notice g Loomis had a medium heavy imx pro spinning rod rated 1/8 to 7/16 oz in extra fast
  2. Primarily it will be a bottom contact rod dragging jigs and tubes for river smallmouth but would see some jerkbait duty, primarily 110 juniors. Unfortunately, the nrx is out of my price range but the SC LE and GLX are doable
  3. I’m not sure what css numbers are but I’m mainly looking at 7’ medium fast and 6’10” extra fast
  4. I’m narrowing down spinning rod choices. is there much of a difference between the SC LE medium vs the Loomis medium. I think SC’s medium is rated up to 5/8 but Loomis shows 3/8 for the GLX. thanks
  5. I have the avid mlf so it sounds like the mxf is a solid choice. Thanks for the info
  6. Looking for user feedback on the SC LE 6’8”, 6’10” Med extra fast and the 7’ medium fast Thanks
  7. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’m kind of leaning towards the SC legend elite medium extra fast. Trying to decide between the 6’8” or 6’10”. The rod would likely see some jerk bait action when I’m not dragging jigs on the bottom
  8. There is a healthy musky population in the areas that I fish. I generally see a couple on most trips when the water is clear
  9. Based off your screen name, I’d say we fish similar styles. I fish the new river in VA for smallies
  10. Generally I do use braid on a few setups with copoly on the rest That ml premier is a good all purpose rod. It does great with jerks and cranks too
  11. I have a ml premier and it’s a nice rod. The tip is a little soft for heavier jigs I have the Expride A version light stick. It’s a nice rod and rated to 7/16 ounce. It’s awesome for neds, lighter jigs
  12. I’m looking for suggestions for a bottom contact spinning rod for river smallmouth jig fishing. I’ll be dragging 1/4 - 3/8 ounce jigs with trailers. I have a few medium light set ups and considering a step up. Budget is $400ish but will consider and prefer lower costs if the quality is there
  13. I’ve had it for about a year and it’s a fun little reel. It’s currently on a Expride light and is very impressive. It actually handled a 40”ish musky for me earlier in the year
  14. I’ve already got the reel and currently run 8 pound braid for ned rigs. I was thinking of switching the reel to a short rod for finesse jerks. I have only used fluorocarbon line once and thought about trying it again but may have use a different feel
  15. Anyone try running a vanford/stradic 2000 with fluorocarbon line? Just curious if this is worth trying?
  16. It’s the same here in VA. We need rain. I went Monday and caught quite a few with 14-15” being the biggest. Never even got my bump board out
  17. What AH rated lithium do you use/recommend?
  18. I run a 16 foot jon boat with a Merc 45 jet. My current trolling motor is a 70lb 24 volt power drive. I fish moderate current rivers with occasional use in heavy current but avoid those areas too much until I upgrade to a trolling motor with spot lock
  19. I caught about 20 smalls yesterday, all under 14” in fairly fast current in VA and 4,017 leaves. This was prior to a cold front though. No big girls were located
  20. I’m a power fisher and prefer jerk and crank baits. If those two don’t produce, I’ll always throw the ned and it almost always produces for river smallmouth even if the conditions are tough. I have no experience with the drop shot mainly since it’d like hang up quickly in rocky rivers. The whacky is something I just started playing with but don’t have a lot of confidence yet
  21. I’m trying to decide between taking the plunge and getting a single 24v lithium battery. My buddy runs his minnkota terrova on 2 group 24 batteries and says it functions fine and never drained them completely. Has anyone run a trolling motor on group 24 batteries, and if so, what’s your thoughts or regrets? Thanks
  22. Thanks for the detailed info and calculations, that helps a lot. I run a jet and am trying to stay as light as possible. Converting to lithium will shave off about 50 lbs and should be helpful
  23. My boat is a 16’ war eagle. I fish rocky rivers in VA with moderate current and would use spot a couple hours each trip. I’ll check out the specs to compare the 60 & 100 AH 24v options Its good to hear the 60 would probably work though Thanks
  24. I’m getting ready to upgrade to a terrova TM and considering the change to lithium. I’m also considering on 24 v battery vs two 12v. What amp hour should I go with ? I see some suggestions that 60ah will work but would like some opinions thanks
