I'm looking for a magnum trick worm size straight tail worm with elaztech material to help float it off the bottom for a Carolina rig. I know z-man makes something similar, anyone have experience with any others?

I'm sure we've all done it - you set the hook on a fish or what you think is a fish and the lure comes flying at the boat at warp speed One of my fishing partners is newer and thinks a good hookset is unnecessary and I'm going to hit him with a lure (nevermind that he's at the back of the boat so this is unlikely) I really only set the hook hard with texas rigs and jigs - if he got hit at all it would be with the weight Anyone else have this experience with others in the boat?

I thought about it but I've never fished from a boat at night and it'll be a new moon is the shoreline illumination enough?

Thanks for the suggestion. A champion 7'6 heavy has been on my list. in this case I'm taking advantage of a broken rod tip to get credit on a new rod from st. croix

It's a 15" handle, which feels a lot longer to me. I'm fine with the handle length on my premier. I think its a 14" (#4 handle) Checking out that victory - hopefully it would balance well/not be fatiguing

I'm definitely not opposed, but not sure which of their rods would be best for that I have a Dobyns 735C that I don't really like because the handle is 1-2" too long for my taste. Hoping they will swap it for something different

I should have clarified St. Croix is replacing the rod and I'm allowed to apply the credit towards a different rod. The Medium/fast has been ok but it really only works well for me for light Texas rigs I got these rods when I was just starting out last year and I agree they're a bit heavy. I've handled other rods since and seem to like other brands more. Although, Dobyns still hasn't responded to my email query from over a week ago

I just broke the tip off my medium bass x rod and looking to change up the power at a minimum. Don't mind going to a nicer rod under $200, though. Techniques I primarily fish: Texas rigs Jigs Flipping/pitching Punching Top Water frogs spinners/bladed jigs I also have a 7 foot medium heavy premier and a Dobyns 705CB I am mainly a shallow water fisherman but wouldn't mind expanding my skillset. I have ventured into shallow cranking but already have a rod for that

Ya, I've read the back and forth. Seems its more shimano and daiwa these days my BB1 always ends up with a little overrun unless i crank the spool tension, have not tried the higher end reels yet

Big fan of my daiwa reels so I'll probably go with that Still skeptical about Lews
