Getting better at bass fishing
For me it's all about the challenge. After fishing a body of water multiple times, discovering all the hot spots, successful lures, colors and times of day, it's time to change tactics. I have a section in my tackle bag of 'never caught a fish' lures. I love those days when I pull them out and spend the day figuring out how to make Bass interested in them! I was fishing with a buddy of mine one fine day, and I was telling him it's all about how you fish the lure, not the type of lure. He disagreed, as he pulled the tab off of his beer and said, "If you can catch a fish on this today, I'll become a believer." I rigged it up and started fishing with it. It took a little over two hours with constant funny remarks, but I finally did land a large Bass. It was the largest fish caught that day. He is now a believer. I LOVE the challenge!

I'm going to work some exercise into my fishing.
A great method for exercise and working out is Float Tube Fishing. About ten years ago I suffered a lower and upper Back injury. The future prospects didn't look good. I was fearful that this was the injury that would take away all of my outdoor activities! At the time I incurred my Back injury I was already researching and contemplating taking up Float Tube fishing. After the injury I was doing all of the therapy stuff and working out to regain mobility. Pretty soon I was mobile again but with a lot of pain. I wanted to go fishing and decided that bank fishing with some light hiking would be good therapy. Turns out that standing and fishing from the bank was painful. Once again, I felt that my outdoor activities were in danger of being nixed! I decided it was time to move forward with the Float Tube fishing method. It was the best thing that I could have done for my recovery! It's a very relaxing method of exercise. Sort of like sitting in a recliner and working out at the same time. After the first time Float Tube Fishing, I had more relief from back pain than any other therapeutic exercise provided! Since I first started, I have lost over 70lbs, and I am a lean, mean fishing machine! My core strength is awesome. I feel thirty years younger. If you take up Float Tube fishing, you'll quickly discover that it will open up all of those inaccessible fishing holes. I have a Float Tube with pack straps so I can hike into areas where that is the only way you're going to get there. In the past I was restricted to bank fishing at these types of locations. No longer! Nothing beats a Float Tube for access!

Your Total Years
I was born in 1958. According to the family I was born with a Cane pole in my hands. Mama had to undergo a Polectmy so I could come into the world. True story. I can't remember not fishing. I had three brothers. We spent all of our time exploring South East Texas and fishing any water we could find or get to. Most of our traveling was done by hiking. We foraged and fished for our food. We fished for everything and anything! Daddy taught us to respect the fish. If we caught it...we ate it. I had caught a few Bass by four years of age but didn't think too much about it. However, we began to notice that there were some fishermen out there that seemed to only be concerned with catching Bass. We started observing them and learned they were 'Bass Anglers'. They used special Tackle and lures to stalk their prey. At age six I decided I was going to become a Bass Angler. We didn't have any money so we would find the hotspots that Anglers fished. When there was no one fishing we stripped naked and dove down to the structure and recovered lures. Amazingly we even found a small, sunken, flat bottom skiff. With a boat and lures we became self-taught Anglers. I have been an avid fisherman all my life. I still fish. I retired from the Navy and now own my own Road Construction company. My wife is the CEO. I made myself the Project Manager. As the PM I am required to travel all over the State. I drive a Company SUV with my two dogs, Goldilocks and Dolly. I tow a Camper or a boat behind me everywhere I go on Company business. It's the good life for me and my two dogs. Nothing wrong with making Company paid travel into fishing and camping excursions as well! I boat, bank and Float Tube fish. My prey of choice; Bass (of course). Been doing it now for about 62 years. I'm just getting started!

Pixel Grinch from Nebraska
I'm down in South Central Nebraska. A small town called Red Cloud. Beautiful place, Chadron. I am in that area yearly, sometimes my Company business takes me there. Other times, it's because it's so close to Sturgis (I'm a Legion Rider)

Sleeping.
Sleeping has never been an issue for me. Like you, I prep all my equipment, boat and vehicle for the next day of fishing. Daddy always said a good fisherman doesn't get up at dawn...he gets up way before dawn and is on the water at dawn.?

Pixel Grinch from Nebraska
While sipping my coffee this morning and thinking about fishing I decided that I needed to find a good fishing forum. After finding and browsing this one I decided it was the one! I love fishing! Especially for Large Mouth Bass. I grew up fishing in South East Texas. I moved to central New Mexico for High School and had to learn how to fish for Trout. After that I joined the Navy and travelled the world, fishing everywhere I could and eventually retiring from the Navy. Seemed like I fished everything. About fifteen years ago when I was working and travelling as a Military contractor I met and married the love of my life. Then about ten years ago we moved to Nebraska where she grew up so we could settle down and live out the rest of our lives. That's when I discovered all of the awesome Bass fishing this State has to offer! I'm looking forward to sharing my stories on the forum. My other Hobby is Videography. I am currently working on a series called; "Fishing the Corridor" (unless I change the title before I release). Anyway, I'm glad to be here!
