Do you agree with this quote?
One of my favorite quotes actually comes from king of the hill Hank : We don't fish for the fish. 90% of what I like about this sport, and it is a sport, is sittin' in the boat for 5 hours doin' nuthin'. And the icing on the cake is when God smiles on you and you hook one. And when you're reeling it in, everything else falls away. You don't think about taxes, or traffic, or that pushy gal that's tryin' to get into The Citadel, or who's gonna take care of you when your mother and I are old and incapacitated. All there is is a man, a rod, a lake, and a fish

I used a 1/8 road runner, a 1/10th and 1/6th zman ned head. The lurres are 3" keitechs "ghost trout" "pro blue red pearl" and "bluegill flash". I'd recomend sticking to the lightest weight you feel safe with. I super glue the shank then finish threading keitech on and letting the super glue set. In doing so they will last alot longer, till the tail comes off or I get it stuck on cover and have to break my line. So far gorilla glue seems to be the best bet, It's the only one I have used where it dosnt dry up in the bottel and I have bin able to get multiple uses out of it.

I was casting around trying to find fish when I saw ripples off to my right towards the middle of the river I was fishing. He swirled once, I casted to far right and missed, I quickly realed in as he turned on the school again and he inhaled a 3" keitech almost as soon as it hit the water!

2023, your first catch picture of the new year.
First fish of 2023, first bass of 2023 and what could possibly be my first ever whitebass/hybrid!!!! Had the chance to go out for a couple hours today and the 3" keitechs killed it! Overall tally was 5/6 crappie, 5 dinks, and 1 whitebass/hyrbid.

Show off your Stuff
My current "workhorse" is a Lews Speed Stick 6'6" ml, with a Pflueger President size 30. I currently have it spooled up with 10 lb. power pro high vis yellow, with some fc sniper 6 lb. floro leader. my heavy setup is a BP MH heavy casting rod and an offshore angler casting reel spooled with Daiwa 8 braid. I use the casting for my hard baits, bigger frogs, and most top water. I use the spinning setup for everything else, whether its a weightless soft plastics, small spinners, smaller swimbaits, and lighter top water.

This could possibly be my last bass of 2022! Spent 4 1/2 hours just looking for a bite or pattern. Water ice cold so I was beginning to doubt i would catch a fish but decided to keep on trucking. Thankfully this little football took a 1/8 white roadrunner with a small white/red straight taill.

One of the first culprits to something I haven't seen being used yet. A finnese technique that you can use to sight fish bass, will giving the lure the most action possible. It's just a simple twist lock on a circle or octopus hook with a weightless bait attached to the twist lock and keaping the hook exposed. I have had succes from the bank but I can see this being helpfull when you could see them patroling the shore line, or when your fishing spawning bass.

Something i have bin trying out that I haven't ever really seen yet. I saw a twist lock had fallen into my circle hooks, when I went to get it out this idea came to me. It's a finnese technique for sight fishing bass. It has helped give the worm the most action possible as well as keeping from having the hook tear up the worm as mutch. I have only tested with a zoom worm, but I'm planing on trying difrnt lures and sizes, as well as difrnt size hooks. Could also possibly help if your drop shoting and want to try something new. I fished it weightless on 6 or 8lb test. As for the few fish I have caught using this rig, they were all able to easily take the bait and I have yet to gut hook a fish. If it dosnt exist yet, im considering calling it a "freestyle rig" or something of the sort, because it gives the lure complete freedom to do its thing.

Bargaining with the bait monkey.
I will admit, on more than one occasion my wife caught me by tha fish tank, showing the bass some lures and asking them what they think of them or what color they would prefer. Gotta ask the Profesionals of the field right?

Bargaining with the bait monkey.
I haven't brought it up to her yet, but once we're more stable and settle down, I'm planing on a trip to Legoland for her and a fishing trip for me

Bargaining with the bait monkey.
The bait monkey got ahold of me this blackfriday season and just wouldn't let go. It somehow found out my wife likes to build Legos and decided to strike a deal with her. If i purchased her some Lego sets, I could spend the equivalent amount on fishing gear. One week later and now I'm waiting on an order of roboworms, senkos, keitechs, zman finnese frogz, jigheads, a cl8bait mighty mouse, some floro and braid, and a 3640 stowaway.

My one and only Oklahoma bass...
fort sill itself is home to many ponds and acers of land. all you need is an ok state fishing license, take a 30-45 minute safety class, pay for the base pass (about 50$ for the year) and you can fish year round with 2 other guests fishing as well. after taking the first class all you need to do is renew the pass every year. other bases have similar attractions. like fort Jackson for instance. when I finished basic training there, my brother and parents came for family day and we got to fish the ponds and we later found out your allowed to fish the golf courses there as well (so long as you aren't disturbing the golfers).
