Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Good night last night. Got this 4.1 and about six or seven others. The 4.1 was electric! Shot up out of the water twice. Got it on a weightless worm in maybe 3ft of water just a couple feet from shore. All the others happened in about a 30 minute window. All on a spinnerbait. One was 3lbs and the others were 1-2lbs. Most with big bellies. All where pretty close to shore and not too deep

@Banned User 1/2oz Strike king in white. One big hit late was on spinnerbait had him on for a few seconds so probably just didn't get it all. The missed hook set was on a worm. My boat was turning a bit as the fish was moving away with the line. I thought I had reeled up all the slack but didn't and just kinda whiffed🙂

Caught this 4.10 last night. I had been fishing along the shore again with no luck and really no sign of any bass shallow yet. Same with another pond I fish which I got skunked on the night before. Both are relatively smaller ponds that aren't too deep. Finally started chucking my spinnerbait in the middle and got this one. Later on I blew the hookset on a decent one and missed it . Again, as I was leaving started casting off in the middle and a big fish slammed my spinnerbait. Had it for a few seconds then got off. Bummed I wasn't able to get out tonight. Can't wait for them to start hugging the banks on the ponds I go to. Love when they come in before the pads and weeds start showing up.

Last night 4.5 Got it on a weightless worm in about maybe 5ft of water by a fallen tree. Great hook set and fight. Lot of meat on the back, thought it was over 5 til I weighed it. After a couple of skunks last week I'm feeling like it's on again.

Ran into a good one last night. 6.6 lbs on a spinnerbait. Probably about 4ft of water at the edge of some pads. Finally something over 2lbs this spring. Hooked it just as I was leaving. Probably would have been my last cast. Just a beautiful fish.

Got a 6.0 tonight. Haven't been getting out as much and this was the first good one in a while. Threw a plastic worm onto the edge of some pads and pulled it out onto open water, she blasted it. Missed a few others, wish I had got out there earlier. Again, this little bog has delivered. Can't wait to get out here in late fall and spring when the pads thin out/die off.

A few nights ago I got a 4 and a 5.9 on a nearby bog. Caught the big one on a 3:16 lure company NoBull frog. These frogs look great coming through the water. They don't last long though but they do include a bottle of repair glue so maybe get a little more life out of them. I lost a giant on the same pond last week. Had it on briefly, got a good look a it. Next level fish. It was right there, then it wasn't. Just sat in the boat dead quiet for a few minutes. Headed out again tonight

5lb.15oz. Got him on a worm. I hadn't fished this pond(small bog) in a few years, don't think it gets much pressure. Got a few others on a spinnerbait earlier but went with a worm dropped in tight near the shore.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Been fishing for bass the same way since I was 12. One rod with a spinnerbait, one with a plastic worm. Sometimes switch to a frog/ topwater when the weeds come in. It's worked well enough on the smaller ponds I fish that I just haven't bothered changing it up. So many other great lures and techniques that I just haven't got to until now. Ran into a coupe of different guy's back in March that were only throwing swimbaits and both had already caught fish over 7 this spring. It was finally enough for me to go get a third heavier rod and a couple of swimbaits . Last week I was going through the motions of giving it a chance, maybe 25 casts. Once, after I brought it up not really too focused or into it, noticed a giant wake slowly move away from the boat. Defiantly got my attention after that.

Got a 6.4 tonight. Very end as it was getting dark. Maybe 2 feet of water in a grassy area. Hadn't got hardly anything all night, and for the past 2 weeks for that matter. Caught on a plastic worm, she waked up on it just after it hit the water. Also caught my first fish on a 7" glide bait.

Friday skunk. Saturday went out to Robbins pond, fought the wind. 3.9 saved the day. Sunday got a couple of 3's on a small bog. Tonight got this 5.5 on third cast. Missed a brute that broke off.

Went out for a couple hours tonight and got a 4.2 at the very end. Felt like a snag at first but then started moving to the side. Real nice healthy fish. Caught it on a worm that I dropped down near some new lily pads in about 5ft of water close to the shore.

Saturday evening went to a small bog pond nearby. Sat in my canoe under an overhanging tree until the rain let up. Pond went to glass and and caught three bass around 2 lbs and missed about 4 others. Like a switch went off for about twenty minutes. Got quiet after that. Sunday and Monday nights fished a larger pond. Monday caught a couple pickerel while I got knocked around in the wind for hours. Monday more wind, only managed to catch a couple. Probably go tonight somewhere nearby and small.

Went out last night and tonight and caught a bunch in 3 feet of water or less. The warmer days seems to have sparked them up. Most were 1-2lbs though I did get a 4.2 last night and this 4.11 tonight. Also, missed a big one at the end tonight as the sun went down. Most everything was on a spinnerbait.

Yeah it's been a great start for me. It has not been easy though. Other than the 3 Fives I haven't hardly caught anything else. Had my share of skunks as well. Two of them I caught on a much larger pond than I'm used to fishing. Im trying to step out of my comfort zone, focus more now on places a bit larger and deeper that I know are holding more big fish. With a 12' canoe the hook sets and dealing in the wind can be an adventure though but hoping it will pay off. Also, thinking of getting a new rod to start fishing swimbaits. Just keep throwing those glide baits, you'll be hoisting another giant soon.

Got this 5.0 tonight out of a bog pond that I hadn't fished in a few years. Almost no signs of life til I hooked this one. Caught on a plastic worm. She shot up out of the water like a cannon ball and looked bigger on first glimpse. Only fish of the night.

Yeah DogBone tonight I'm sure about it, yesterday maybe not so much. Got this 5.12 tonight! It was awesome, as soon as I set the hook there was no doubt it was a good one. Was skunked and battered by the wind yesterday. Went back to same pond tonight grinding away, it paid off. Caught it on a weightless plastic worm. Looking forward to it warming up a bit.

Wednesday I was nearly skunked after long afternoon/evening then got this 5.3 as I was leaving. Nice to be back in Mass again.

Got this 5.5 last night. Great battle, had to pull some moves just to keep it from going into the pads. My fourth and biggest over 5lbs this year. Last year I only broke 5 once so definitely a bounce back year. Got a 4 earlier and a 4.9 the night before...good weekend. Earlier in the week went out to Leonards pond for the first time. Got a couple around 2 1/2 and a few more smaller ones. Tons of hydrilla but weed free in the middle. Water was coffee colored. Caught all on a spinnerbait. Like to fish there in the spring when less weedy. Almost stopped at Mary's pond on the way back but ran out of time.

Couple more 4's last night. Again another really solid night on one of my top spots. These fish, all of them, have been fighting with such power lately. I guess summer heat has them in prime form? Seriously baffled that first one wasn't over 6? Working worms off pads and then weirdly slowed after sun went behind trees. Started throwing a spinnerbait and immediately connected with a run of four of them on my way out til I left in the dark.

Been using Zoom trick worms lately in black, junebug or watermelon. 3/16 weight and 5/0 wide gap hook.
