  1. Bunch of fish tonight. A 4.9 (pictured) and a 4.0 were the biggest. 14 in all. Amazingly only lost one. My hook sets are getting better which has been a challenge in this 12ft canoe. I had to lower the seat just to be able to fish out of it. Best thing about it is it only weighs 33 pounds. Not very comfortable though. Caught them all on a plastic worm. Love fishing these summer nights!
  2. Last minute decided to go after work tonight. Lost one easy over 6lbs at the boat. It blasted my spinnerbait just a few feet from the canoe. Got a good look at it. Fought it for about maybe 30 seconds then came up out of the water and threw the lure. It was Big. Been having more chances with bigger fish lately, no rhyme or reason. The pond I fished tonight is very small and no one fishes it anymore, probably because it gets so choked up with weeds and pads, it's kind of forgotten. Almost every time I go there I spook something big. Twenty years ago I caught a 7.1 and 6.3 in there on the same night, fifteen minutes apart. Tonight I did end up landing a couple around 3 and a few smaller ones so not a bad night considering.
  3. Caught this 4.0 tonight on a plastic worm. Made up for last night, was all but shutout except for a scrawny pickerel
  4. Last Friday did well, biggest being 4.8. Caught all on plastic worms. Then last night went out to find that the entrance to Indian pond is now gated off complete with sign and surveillance camera. Could be tough to fish it now as other access might be private property. Was really a great spot back in there. Ended up driving out to a small bog pond I hadn't fished since last year. Slow going for a while then caught a pickerel that was probably close to 4 and the biggest perch I've ever caught. Finally found the bass. They were up against or possibly beneath these small floating mat like islands that seem newly formed on the edge of the pond. Some looked like a mat of muck and roots? Others had plants sprouting on them. Water was maybe 3ft deep. Caught five fish. The biggest two where 3.7 and 3.6. One on a worm the rest on spinnerbait.
  5. Fished a pond after work tonight until it was dark. Within the first 10 minutes I hooked a very big fish. Beast came flying out of the water and hit plastic worm. Set the hook and this fish felt like lead. Not tugging, just heavy and running deep. Had him on for a bit and then it broke my line. Tough one. Just don't get many chances hooking big fish like this. Rest of the night was a blur. Caught a bunch, maybe ten, 2and 3lb range and one that was 4. Lost or missed just as many. All caught on plastic worms. Nice night though, wind died down and water was glass. Fireflys were out.
  6. Went out this morning to a different pond that I was told has had some big fish caught in it. This was the second time there. Caught a few small ones and this weird mutant pickerel on the shorter side but huge around. Missed easily the biggest one of the year so far. I was snaking a large plastic worm along the surface near some grasses and had just a massive wake building up behind it. It had this slow but steady momentum, I was sure it was going to strike. I was running out of space as it was getting too close to the boat so I let the worm drop down. There was a huge boil but it never hit it. Be thinking about this one for a while.
  7. Incredible night fishing. Caught maybe 15 or so.. lost a bunch as well. The majority where 2 1/2 -2 3/4 almost like I was catching the same fish over and over again. All seem to fight beyond their weight. The water was warm sky overcast, some wind. Caught all but 2 on a Spinnerbait. Just kept firing at stumps and pads, They were on it almost instantly. Near dark I caught the 2 biggest 4.13 and 4.9 also lost a beast that twisted off on some pads.
  8. Nice night. Caught a bunch including this 5.1. Welcome change not to be knocked around by the wind.
