BPS Pro Qualifier/Johnny Morris vs Gloomis/StCroix
I have john morris and extreme from BPS and have used for years. They are good rods. This past year I decided to move up to Loomis IMX rods. I now have four. The short answer is yes, there is a hugh difference. If some is telling you there isn't they don't own both and are probably suffering from rod ***. Yes Loomis is not cheap, but neither is a 747, but it is better than a piper cub too. So, if you want to step up to the next level in rods then do so. You will be happy with your purchase.

polarized strength
Yes, to make it simple. In polarized sun glasses you get what you pay for. I like Costa Del Mar. Get the best you can afford.

G Loomis Escape Rod
I have four Loomis one peice rods and like them very much. I am in the market for a travel rod. Has anyone used the Loomis escape seires rods and what are your thoughts? I am looking at the 7 foot med. spinning matched to a 2500 stella.

Trouble Casting Crankbaits
You didn't say what size cranks or line weight. That also makes a difference.
-
High Visability Lines
Ditto. I used the Power Pro yellow and have not seen a real difference in numbers. I use a fluro leader with soft plastics because I always have? I don't think it makes a real difference though. But with hard baits and wire baits I tie directly on.

Rod selection...
Try tackle direct on line. They have about the best price on Loomis rods and free shipping on 200.00 or more.

Am I expecting too much
I have the chronarch as well as calais. You should not be "hearing" the reel work.

Grades of graphite rods
There is a huge differance in rods. Most high end makers have thier own blend of resins and graphite. I up graded to Loomis IMX rods about a year ago. ( yes it costed me some extra overtime at work)( one day maybe I can go up to GLX) Now I will never use anything but them. I was amazed. You really do get what you pay for.

Raul and guys: New Reel

Shimano Chronarch/ St. Croix Avid
I put a Chroanch BSV on a 6-6 GLX med/Hvy for an allaround combo. It works great and I can fish inshore and freshwater.

pond fishing
I agree with rooster tail. Try chartrues and silver, yellow, white. 1/8 oz. to 1/4oz. Try smaller 1st.
-
Braided line and fluro leader
Double you braid when you tie the uni. This should stop the braid from cutting the fluro.
