Walking the dog with rod tip high
I start from a long cast with rod tip high to keep most of the line out of the water, as stated, than as I get closer to the boat I lower the rod tip. sc

Cranking Elbow?
Thanks for all the response. I had a chance to see my brother-in law the PT. His advice: Advil, ice, and cut back on the activity. The first 2 I can handle but for the 3rd thing the best I can do is give my spinning real a little more time in the saddle. I've never been near as accurate with it but who knows with a little more practice.

Cranking Elbow?
I'm getting some tendinitis in my left arm from cranking. I started thinking I might have to start using my spinning reel more which I don't like the thoughts of. Has anyone had this problem? If so, has anyone tried alternating a lefty\ righty baitcaster for some relief? Steve

Which do you enjoy more???
It goes like this for me: #1 Catching fish, #2 Using quality equipment (casting/ retrieving), #3 Researching new tackle to buy, #4 Buying new stuff

Should the drag slip on hookset?
If you are still getting a good hookset a little bit of drag pull, should let you know everything is set properly. My $.02

Tungsten weights
It took me a while before I decided to spend 1-2 dolars per weight, but they are a distinct advantage, no question. When you think about it you spend much more for other lures so why shouldn't your T-rigs top notch. Fact is I don't really LOSE that many weights they just get beat up. I've been using BPS havn't tried Tru-Tungsten. Are they smoother?

Lure Detailing...Is it an advantage?
I was sitting here at work thinking about fishing and found myself looking at the new Dawia lures, Lipless crankbaits specificly. It got me thinking. The way these lures are presented, vibrating many times per second, does it really matter to a bass whether it looks like a work of art or a very utilitarian Rat-l-trap? My thinking is that if it has the right flash & rattle you've got yourself a fish on. What do ya think?

Trouble Casting Crankbaits
I can comfortably get about 40 feet out of a cast, a little more if I want to risk a backlash. I adjust the thumb screw until the lure just starts to fall with the rod horizontal.

Trouble Casting Crankbaits
I thought I would diversify and learn how to use crankbaits, so I ordered a selection of Bandits. These things hardly weigh anything. I am using a standard low pro. baitcaster with a 6 1/2 foot med. graphite rod. I can't get any distance at all, am I missing something here? :-/

$1 spinnerbaits at Wal-Mart
All I can say is sharpin the hook before you tie it on. I lost a 4 lb'er and a 6 lb'er (est) right after. I refuse to use them anymore. You get what you pay for.

flipping bass into the boat
I lip everything but the big ones with a mouthful of treble hooks I use my boga grip. I'm in a kayak so flipping them into the boat would not be pretty.

My First Quality Rod
Started bass fishing about a year and a half ago with a couple of $29 BPS rods. I thought to myself, it seems as though I am officially addicted to this fishing stuff so I might as well upgrade my rods. Bought a GLoomis IMX worm rod and WOW everything they say is true. I can feel rocks, sand, mud, sticks and FISH. Not to mention it's dead accurate to cast. How do they do it? There's no question, you do catch more fish with a quality rod. :)

AMAZING day on the water!
I had one AMAZING day fishing yesterday! I was out in my kayak hitting some of my usual spots and had caught a couple med. fish. I threw a worm across this hump 5' deep that falls off on either side to about 10'. Got a bite, pulled in a decent sized one. Cast it out again, pulled in another fish. This went on for a while so I thought, I'll try a cranckbait, WHAM. Long story short, what ever I cast out over that spot I got a bite. I ended up catching around 20+ fish off of this one hump. If I would hit a spot a few feet on either side, nothing. It's like the bass were lined up on that one spot to take my bait, any bait. I've only been fishing for about a year now so maybe some of you veterans will tell me that this happens now and then. All I can say is it was like being in a fishing dream.
