My First Quality Rod

Featured Replies

Started bass fishing about a year and a half ago with a couple of $29 BPS rods.  I thought to myself, it seems as though I am officially addicted to this fishing stuff so I might as well upgrade my rods.  Bought a GLoomis IMX worm rod and WOW everything they say is true.  I can feel rocks, sand, mud, sticks and FISH.  Not to mention it's dead accurate to cast. How do they do it?  There's no question, you do catch more fish with a quality rod.   :) :) ;)

Ain't it sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your equipment.  I had to learn the hardway about the quality of equipment.  On all of my good rods, I can feel everything and have never missed a fish, but anytime I take some "bo-bo" cheap o with me--I want to have a foot attached to my back so I can keep kicking myself for being stupid.  I guess I will tell this story in the tournament section.  Congrats.

Congrats man. Hey, I wanna join the Loomis posse too. 8-) I'm leaning towards getting my first Loomis at the BPS Spring Fishing Classic in about 3 weeks. I can almost afford an IMX rod .... MBR783C sounds reeeal good.

I just got my first loomis today. I pick her up next week tho. I got a Crankbait Series, 6ft 6in M action. Expensive but worth every penny.

It's cheaper in the long run to buy quality..... 8-)

That old bionic blade will never feel the same.

Say hello to Mr. Baitmonkey

Pulled the trigger today after weeks of debating which rod to buy.  And my first quality rod is ....... a ....... G Loomis IMX MBR843 as my all purpose rod.   :)  Oh, happy day.   Can't wait to try it out this weekend!!

I handled a few Loomis models paired with my reel and this one seemed to have the best feel for me.  Also, where I fish, there is not much heavy cover so I opted for the 3 instead of 4 power.  Thanks to the forum guys who gave me valuable information and helped me with my decision.  I am psyched!!

And the epidemic spreads a little farther... Congrats on the new rod. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

  • 1 month later...

After about a month of buying my first Loomis(IMX MBR843 mentioned above) and using it about 10 times.  Gotta say.......I LOVE IT.  Got it paired up with my best reel, Daiwa Luna 253.  It just casts so smooth and has real good sensitivity.  I'm so happy that I got that rod.  I took my 7 yr old daughter for some bank fishing and she was amazed at the distance I was getting......

Check this out as a side note.  I've taken my daugher fishing a bunch the last 2 years.  All bobber worm fishing.  Today, I let her put on a Yamamoto dual tail grub, root beer color cuz she was getting real antsy watching a bobber.....first cast ever with a lure of any kind.....bass on the end of the line.  It was a small one but man, what a great moment.  She followed that one up with a 2 pounder.  That is what fishing is all about right there.

Congrats on your new rod!I got my first GLoomis a couple of weeks and it makes a huge difference than any other rod I have used b4.I feel every thing,it's powerful and nice and light!
