  1. I’ve had better luck will the Bellows Gill than the Cover Scat !! Please tell me what size and how are you fishing it - Weightless ? It seems to take forever to sink
  2. which Alphas ? Alphas SV TW ? Alphas Air ? the other 2 are older reels I believe as a hard core Daiwa guy - I’d say consider the Aldebaran BFS if you wanna throw true BFS
  3. That’s very helpful… Thank you guys I got the new Aldebaran BFS and put it on the L and fished it today… Did really well using exposed hook Neds- as well as a little 1/8 spinner bait the L is a really great feeling rod - definitely gonna keep it - but I want the ML too now for things that need a harder hookset FWIW- after using a stock ALPHA AIR TW for a bit - the ‘22 Aldebaran BFS casts light stuff MUCH better IMHO - just saying Once again - thanks again for the advice. Such a helpful community here. Dano
  4. After some research, I bought the Phenix Feather LIGHT ( by mistake ) -I thought I was ordering the medium light. But I was having a hard time deciding between the two, so I figured I would just try the light I don’t need true BFS - I mostly just want to throw a TRD / Ned on a 1/16 Owner Blockhead. once I got it all rigged up, I could cast it very well, and was pretty excited. However., I lost all four fish because I could not get a good hook set. My hook is “tex-posed” but this has never been a problem with even a light spinning outfit I went home and re-rigged the reel / line on my NRX +842C . Obviously, it doesn’t load the rod very well, but I landed every fish that bit. my question is for those that have both the L and ML… Is the medium light considerably more stout in the tip - compared to the L ? I will probably keep the light for small swimbait and open hook presentations because it had a nice taper, but just not enough strength to get a good hookset FYI… I had a medium light shipped to me and it arrived this afternoon — with a broken tip. !! ??‍♂️ I heard they were fragile, and I was frustrated enough to ask here first - instead of just exchanging it what say ye ? thanks !! Dano
  5. Use the Owner Blockhead jig heads I use the 16oz and the hook up ratio is nearly perfect
  6. Hahahaha- I’ve never seen that quote, but it is SO true !! I sold high-end audio here in Nashville for a decade
  7. lifelong guitarist here - im also lucky enough to have my day job be building 50s-60s style aged electric guitars ( DANOCASTER ) Here’s a “lace paint” finish I love to do - using fabric as a stencil
  8. I hear they’re terrible, though… Like most of them aren’t even usable… Academy sports has them on clearance already ??‍♂️ I was going to give them a try, but the reviews I read online allowed me to kick that bait monkey off my shoulder
  9. Awesome… Thank you guys. Appreciate your experience.
  10. I have all my gear to try an A-rig but need to select a reel. I have a new Zillion 1000 Sv TW ( 6:3:1 ) will that handle it ok - at least to try and see if I like this thing ? Or do I need to buy a heavy duty reel ?
  11. It’s not just casting… As a right handed person, I have a lot more power in my right hand to set the hook with my right arm also, the small motor skills like twitching, jerking etc. it’s just much more natural in my right hand than it is in my left
  12. that’s helpful… I will definitely try more of a Ned rig type of hooks at. Honestly it’s more what I’m used to they are not attacking it but I think they are getting it because they’re having to jump out of the water to unhook themselves and really shake it free but they may be swiping at it - and my hook set is just skin hooking them once again… What an awesome forum with so much experience - thanks ?? Dano
  13. thanks - I’ll try the 783. I have a newer 783 spinning rod I can dedicate to the 110. BTW - I LOVE the 783 MBR - I have a casting GLX and NRX + !! FISHTANK- don’t you also have the Conquest 783 ? I’m wondering if it’s better than the NRX/GLX in anyway ? I’m tempted to buy one and have three 783s ?
  14. That may be part of it as well - my zillion’s drag has a clicker sound that I love to hear ? I’ll dbl check that too
  15. Thanks - I’ll leave the 110 stock for now im getting them to bite - but they are just easily jumping off the trebles maybe I need a harder hookset ? I’ll keep throwing it and gain more experience you guys are a wealth of knowledge !! ??
  16. Thanks Aaron - new to jerkbait - Ill keep at it !! ? the stock treble hooks on the Vision 110 are just fine ?
  17. So… I need your help. I lost two fish last week on my first outing with the vision 110. I’m new to fishing this bait so I thought maybe it was a bad hook set then again today… Same thing but with a much better fish… Likely 4/5 pounds i’m using an NRX+ 842 MBR - 30 pound braid/15 pound Tatsu leader do you think the rod is my issue? So far I only seem to have problems on this particular lure… I’ve tried other jerk baits but had no bites so I have no other reference - but I have no problem catching fish on single hooks or crank baits on this rod I also have an NRX+ 783 MBR - as well as a NRX+ 873CRR… But I’m about to post that for sale any tips or advice ?
  18. I use the Tatula 6’8 Med with a 3000 Tatula LT Reel for the small Keitechs landed a 6lb LB a few months ago handled it like a champ
  19. i’ve read that too… I think it was on BR somewhere. …but the rub was the Luvias was lighter. I was looking at both also
  20. I bought a 7’10” Field and Stream 80 from Dick’s for $200. Slides into my Toyota RAV4 and closes. It’s nowhere near as roomy or equipped as most - but I’m on the water paddling away while my buddy is still unloading. I clip the paddle in and carry it with one arm - 2 rods with the other. It’s working great for me. 27 lbs Feels a little hairy in the deepest part of Percy Priest ( Nashville ) but I usually fish shallow and it hasn’t stopped me https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/field-stream-blade-80-kayak-20fnsubld80kykxxxpsk/20fnsubld80kykxxxpsk
