Help with baitcasters
I jsut got a new bait casting reel and I can't figure out how to use it without making a big bird nest. I've been trying everything I have heard or been told but it just doesn't seem to work, I am begining to think that I am trying too hard and that I am making things harder than it should be.If someone could help me and give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sun piranha
Hey hutch, I don't know if you get the Juniata sentinel but if you don't pick one up and check this out. It is on the second page of the sports section. Some guy caught 2 piranha, he kept the smaller one and threw the big one back-- Why I don't really know unless he was scared of the biggin ;)he he he. Oh yeah its in todays Juniata Sentinel (July 11) Check it out it is scary but true as far as I know. Actually I'll just put the article on here so that yall don't have to buy the paper just to see this.It says "though shown after being in his mothers freezer for a week or so, this red belly piranha(theres a pic in the paper) was caught on a worm byRichard HeckJr. while fishing at the mifflintown access to the Juniata River on Memorial Day evening. The Piranha which measures about nine inches long was the first of two Heck caught on the day. He threw the second, and bigger one, back into the riverbefore he realized what he might have. The next day, someone from Van Dyke Research station told him it was a piranha and Heck was told that there are ten to 15 cases a year of people catching piranha in the area. At leats one other case of a fisherman hauling in a piranha has already been noted in the county, so anyone else who reels in this red bellied fish shoud wait until they're sure it's dead before trying to remove their tackle." But I would wait until its dead and then throw it away so that it doesn't come back when you throw it into the water if you catch any.

Sure shot bait for catfish?
The best thing that I have found up to now is live bluegill or other sunfish. You hookem in the back and let'em swim around out there. You will probably catch fewer cats but you should definitely catch bigger anyway.

Firearms Refresher Course
FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE 1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject. 2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone. 3. Colt: The original point and click interface. 4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control. 5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords? 6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words. 7. "Free" men do not ask permission to bear arms. 8. If you don't know your rights you don't have any. 9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither. 10. The United States Constitution © 1791. All Rights reserved. 11. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand? 12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others. 13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday. 14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians. 15. Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety. 16. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive. 17. 911 - government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer. 18. Assault is a behavior, not a device. 19. Criminals love gun control -- it makes their jobs safer. 20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson. 21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them. 22. You only have the rights you are willing to fight for. 23. Enforce the "gun control laws" we ALREADY have, don't make more. 24. When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves. 25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control. 26. "A government of the people, by the people, for the people..." I totally agree with every one of these points. We shouldn't have to fight to keep our gun rights, they should be a given because it was said that "all men have the right to bear arms and that that right cannot be infringed. That means it is set in stone the only problem is that antigunners think that they are above the law and that they are better than everyone else ... Hey did yall hear that they are trying to get a bill passed that would require that you register every gun that you own once a year every year. Thats not so bad but they want us to pay 10 bucks for each gun we own--every year >.Now I don't know about all yall but thats a lot of money each year. All of mine won't be registered and if they wanna fight about it I got plenty of ammo

ethical killing?? (your thoughts)
I think that if you are going to eat what you kill it is just fine to kill something but I also think that if something is going to cause harm and effect more people/things than it is worth then it should be killed. Where I live that is the case so I think it is just fine to kill starlings. Plus I need a little target practice every now and then. Also I would eat a starling if someone would cook it for me cause I can't cook for crap.

Sun piranha
Sounds like a good idea Hutch. We should do that but uh where is cotters hole. I have only lived here for three and a half years so I don't know that much about the river because me and my buddy generally fish the tuscarora. Also , sorry no I don't know of any pictures of the ones that were caught out of the river but I would sure like to see one of them. We should go a weekend and fish for a while for piranha then fish for some bass while then when it gets dark we can fish for some kittyfishes. The captain

Fishing in Thunderstorms?
I sure hope there ain't nobody that stupid around 'cause thems the guys that die and give anglers all over the place a really bad name. Now I ain't the smarest either but I knew enough to stay on the bank as much as possible( We had no boat and had to keep moving)It was fun-if you can't already tell I am mobydicks buddy that went fishin' with him. I would have never got into a boat in that kind of weather though. Call me crazy but it was fun and it was probably the craziest thing I had ever done up to that point or at least in a good while .

Sun piranha
One of these fish was caught in mifflintown somewhere and it was eventually determined to be a type of piranha.

Fishing in Thunderstorms?
Even though we got wet (I needed a shower anyway ;D) we still had fun but didn't catch any more dang fish after it started thundering. We had a few hits even after it started raining hard but no fish to show for it. I had 2 on and lost them both, just small smallies--barely big enough to hold onto the spinner hook.

Cold Water Bass Lures?
What are the best lures and other baits for bass in cold water.I've only been fishing with a real purpose for a couple of months so I don't really know a whole lot about this stuff. Before this I've just fished when I felt like it which wasn't very often but now my buddy is trying to teach me how to fish so i am getting more interested in it. But he doesn't know everything either.
